Now, I don't really like google; mainly because people use it as a verb, but at least they're not trying to cram 50 ads down my throat everytime I load the page. Well, one thing I do like about IE is that is DOESN'T have a download manager. I hate that damn thing. I want to be able to see each window for a download so I know exactly when each finishes. Maybe put a way to have both? That would be cool...
Firefly was awful, it was cancelled, why did they make DVDs? The theme song alone made me want to change the station. I hope they lose money on the DVD sales...
Chess is won by a computer using brute force... now, when a 9dan Go player is beat by a computer, then i'll believe computers are more intelligent than humans. Stupid chess people....
Well, a lot of anime nowadays is pretty lame. But there are still a few good series that come out. I do with that they would show it subtitled instead of dubbed, but I guess its better than nothing. Also, the main post on/. said that you could have Samurai X all the time. Well, Samurai X is a horrible name and only the OAV's are called Samurai X. A different company did the series (I own all the DVDs) and they still call it Rurouni Kenshin. Changing titles is even worse than doing the dubbing bad.
Firefly deserved to be cancelled. I mean, the intro song made me want to turn it off and the series was even worse. I downloaded one episode so I could say that I was bitching about it for a reason and I wish I hadn't wasted an hour of my life. I mean, cmon, it was definetely not worth cancelling Dark Angel over (2nd season wasnt amazing, but it was getting better at the end). Screw FOX, they suck.
I've been making those since I was 12. the first one I made was a large 4" diameter pvc pipe about 18" long connected to a 2" diameter pipe about 36" long with a grill ignitor on the side of the larger end. It would shoot a potato about 100 yards. (We tried onions too... they went farther but smelled really bad!) Our second attempt was more successful. It was in the shape of a gun (http://sano.dnsalias.org/server/spudgun.jpg) That one went about 200 yards. Our third one was a variation on the second one and it was so powerful that it blew the PVC rubber cement we used for the joints clean off! (Well, after about 30 or so launches) and then finally broke one of the joints that held the different sized PVC together. That one destroyed even the second one at about 300 yards. We would easily lose it in the sky just seconds after we launched it.
I'm not as old as many of you (19) but I remember my first computer was an 80386 with a 250MB HDD. I have no clue what it cost (I was 7) but I never thought I would ever fill that thing up. Then, when I was about 12, I bought my first hard drive on my own. A 2.1GB Seagate (when 30GB drives were $20,000) for $220. That was heaven. Now, I have a 30GB internal and 45GB external on my laptop and I backup stuff on DVD's.
And what is all this, "How am I going to back up a TB?" Didn't you all read the post (I think it was on slashdot) about the 1.5TB DVDs coming out in 2010? Man, you have to pay attention more!
