If I was to put on your conspiracy hat and "follow the money" I see trillions of dollars and power going to government agencies, scientists that "study" the problem are getting more and more funding. Western governments desperately need money to pay for social programs that are unsustainable, and "climate science" is a perfect excuse to tax more.

I don't want to step into your disagreement, but the funding of science and research is several orders of magnitude below that spent on health, defence and social security. You could argue that it would be in some scientists' interests to overplay this threat to improve their funding, but the amounts involved are trivial compared to other government expenditure.

When you have unlimited data available, you are free to click on any youtube video, run your own server, seed torrents etc.

But when you know there is an upper limit you have to monitor it, and ask yourself every time "do I want to expend some of my allowance on viewing this youtube video"? In particular, you can't leave a music streaming site open, and netflix probably isn't viable unless you are on one of the highest usage plans.

I think you are incorrect on this point. Modern electronically-controlled transmissions will over-ride user inputs to prevent damage to the engine or transmission - but I believe that is limited to not downchanging until the road speed has decreased sufficiently, or not upchanging if the car is going too slowly. Perhaps also not changing into reverse while the car is in motion.

I don't know if the car will ignore you putting it into neutral - I suspect that would be left in as a safety feature. You wouldn't immediately damage the engine by shifting into reverse since it should also have a rev limiter on it.

So the procedure of shift to neutral, brake and slow to a stop, then shut off engine should work. And not cause serious damage to the car.

There is also the issue of deployment.

Once there is a defense system in place on a target, the attacker can switch targets relatively easily, but the defenses cannot be readily redeployed.

This is the other side to asymmetrical warfare.
