    I used the same thing. However I didn't get a clear sequence of morse. It was more of a constant tone interrupted by breaks. I couldn't make out any detailed signals that would be letters.

    Oh I'm not disputing any of that. Personally I think this whole deal is a load of shit that is more illegal than what they claim is illegal about file sharing. I was just pointing out that Kazaa existed on the Mac.

    There are several programs for the Mac that will connect to Kazaa, therefore that's not a defense.

    Ok, I take it back. But the dumbass is on Apple then. It clearly states on the main info page 10.2.7 which was only released for the G5's. Hell, the 64 bit support needed for the G5's is the only reason there was a 10.2.7. Apple should get its info straight.

    Why wouldn't it be for G5 owners? From Apple's description:

    "This software updates Mac OS X 10.2.6 or 10.2.7 to version 10.2.8."

    G5's are the only computers with 10.2.7.
    Why don't you try researching your information next time before posting something in all caps.
    You won't look so much like a dumbass.

    If you have an MX700 you have to get some of these batteries. They last more than twice as long as the stock ones. With these you can use it for 2 or 3 full days before needing to recharge, which is awesome.

    s this true? If so, it makes setting the password useful just for keeping out casual interlopers, it's of no use in protecting data in a stolen laptop.

    There has never been a solution to prevent that. It is impossible to secure a machine from anyone that has physical access to it.

    Right. But if you run into this boot issue you will need to do this, as you won't be able to start up your computer to run the program.

    Why was my post modded overrated? I'm serious. All you have to do is take out or install new ram, (basically just change the amount of ram in the machine) and then reset the PRAM 3 times. That clears the Open Firmware password.

    The average American consumer is still oblivious to the erosion of privacy that has occured over the last decade. Only radical action and broad support will stop this continuing trend.

    If you have access to etc/passwd, then you most likely also have shell access in which case you could just do nidump passwd . and get the hashes just as easily.
