This has also been my experience. I get viruses in my emails but only once actually contracted a virus. I update my definitions at the start of each day.
They day I got a virus I didn't update my definitions before downloading mail into Outlook.
Norton AntiVirus has served me well.
Hmmm not all services, a number of companies have put in their own DSLAMS in the exchanges, yes they connect to the backbone but its reliable.
Its Telstras ADSL service that sucks, and you are right, some smaller ISP's just buy wholesale Telstra ADSL.
Some companies with their own, NextepNEC, iPrimus Metronet, these are only available in hi populated area's (wouldnt you if you were putting in your own nodes??).
Basically with so many clients on the network using ALOAH it would fall over and become grid locked due to the colision of packets.
Every time more than one client broadcasts at the same time the packet is dropped and resent, this leads to flooding of the network and it slows to a halt. Only one client can use the channel at a time.
Thats why CSMA/CD is used.
I think anyway... I proably should have checked these details.
After reading through this thread, I think a few people in this forum need to take a look at the news from services other than those based in the US. There is a whole world of perspective out there that should be considered.
That is not to say that there are not people here that open to other perspectives on issues and take the time to get the full story.
Would AMI disclose that such pressures were being placed on them, or would this type of fact be kept hidden from consumer groups or individuals, etc. until it was too late for us to effectively respond?
If they plan on hiding the pressures placed upon them they wouldn't disclose them to/. readers just because the questions being asked would they?

People will bitch about the fact that the .net CLR is so far abstracted that Windows now runs so slow its like using a crappy java app.
.net draw functions then compare that to the win API in pait.
Try this, use the
For the fill function I'm counting 4 seconds for 320x240 and less than a second for the Win32API call.
The cost of training people to use new software in business can be huge.
Event the same program with a different GUI can throw a lot of users.
Having said that, I think its not such a good idea to change the GUI.
Having a familiar interface makes the change over outlook to evolution much easier.
It may even be a deal breaker for using Linux at all. It would be nice if they provide a skins/GUI choice... more work though.

Hmmm I wonder how much conflict of interest there is with this appearing on the MSN?
Using 2 way sat solves the upstream issue of expensive calls on the cell phone.
You could always dump the landline and get the cell phone. For internet you could use two way satellite.

Look up GPhone... all both ends need is an IP, a sound card, a mic and speakers
Look here, this Australian company has licenced the technology that has even done demos. Check out this site: http://www.mediaworld.com.au/mwb.html
I fail to see how Apple is wanting to have "complete domination" over everything. Apple contributes to many open source projects.

Some current Apple open source projects are:
Darwin
Streaming Server
CDSA
CUPS
Open Directory
OpenPlay
Rendezvous
WebCore

Where in the artile does it say that the "RFID tags need to be printed on paper" ?
What it does say is:
KSW-Microtec, a German company, has invented washable RFID tags designed to be sewn into clothing.
