    This isn't any different than what Police do with "Lost" Radios If the police agency is on a digital trunked system (Typically Motorola) then they just assign the lost device to a specific talk group (lostRadiotalkGrp) and then constantly transmit a looped message to that talk group ("The radio you have is property of XYZ police, please return the equipment to the nearest station for a $50 dollar reward thank you")

    Back in the day of 486's my school wanted me to pay $80 for an "Approved" NIC to connect to the school's network.

    I couldn't afford it, I went dumpster diving, found an external Hayes 28.8
    after 30 minutes of using a little war dialing program
    I found a connection to the network
    I learned more about computers and networking that year just out of pure curiosity and a desire to NOT
    pay the $80....

    now they've jacked up the price to an entire laptop...
    why do universities put up more barriers to entry for those whom don't have mommy and daddy's checkbook?

    Why can people be more careful on how they test thier equipment/software?
    what's so hard about setting up a simple SMTP server in a seperate lab enviornment,
    configuring it to be vtext.com and making sure your software is sending the correctly formated "TO:" fields

    sending it off into public networks is just irresponsible.
    I'm sure some engineers sent messages purposely to NULL@vtext.com but shouldn't good programers at Verizon check for that?
    shouldn't there have been a list of restricted VTEXT alias? so administrator@vtext.com couldn't be registerd?

    There is plenty of blame to spread around here.

    the average open Wi-fi Network AP with the default Linksys settings will not have propper QoS settings to enable acceptable voice quaility.
    Forget it if they average AP has a file sharring application running through it.
    An average MOS score of 2.6 or greater would be an overwhelming surprise.

    You ever to PC work for the average home user?
    if you open a command line, the over 40 crowd thinks your a computer god, the 24 and under crowd thinks your some kind of uber hacker.

    you can buy a car without being a mechanic but you still need a license to prove you won't kill the cat backing out of the driveway, nothing like that exists for computers.. because you'll only harm yourself and you'll have to call one of 5 companies to help you

    AOL, Microsoft and others have spent millions of engineering hours to make sure anyone can get online and stark clicking everywhere they see something flashing, it reminds me of the senior citizen zombies in front of the slot machines at the casinos
    they have zero knowledge of what it takes to win...and believe in luck, just "max bet" and hit the 3 buttons....try again

    There is absolutley no need anymore for anyone to understand anything regarding operating systems, file structure, syntax, controls, etc
    br? I have a 512 usb flash drive with Mozzila/-plugins galore ad-aware/spy-bot etc. a couple of dos bat and vbs files. It takes about 20 minutes to get the average pc back into good health. You barter a good homecooked dinner or a bottle of something you like... show them the glory of tabbed browsing and not clicking anything that warns them that thier computer may be infected and to 'click here' to scan. You spend 15 minutes explaining how to use spy bot etc. Put a post it note with Dell/MS/Verizon/Comcast/ whatever tech support line. PS.... show them the help button

    I took the new Ted Williams tunnel via the southie access road in my new caah I banged a left and then hung a right threw the tunnel at the aiahport at terminal E, I met up with Sully, Fitzy and thieah fatha, they are all state troppahs and they said the camerahs are wicked expensive, they showed me a demo and it was pissah but with a database that laahge it's wicked hard to get it right.
