That's just false, and shows a blindness on your part to the overwhelming gender cues and conditioning that go on in society.
Next you'll be saying girls "just naturally love pink, it's biology!"
Further, saying "most choose not to" is a total cop-out. Why do they choose not to? Your suggestion that it's overwhelmingly biological is, again, just false and ridiculous in the extreme. CS environments are frequently unfriendly to women, and comments like yours are specific examples of why.
There is a reason for people thinking this: when WGA finds you have a "pirated" copy it flashes up a popup screen when you login that says "This copy of Windows is not genuine and is no longer eligible to receive select security upgrades from Microsoft".
Personally I would be *shocked* that Microsoft would limit security updates to those who they believe paid for them, but I would find it more likely that they're just trying to scare people.
But I digress, the main point is that there is a definite reason to believe the grandparents claims, since they come from Microsoft themselves.
Yes, but that's the point. The one time cost of new hardware will eventually pay them back because they get more computations per amount of electricity.....
There has actually been an effort to get GCC4 working on gentoo since before it was GCC4 (ie GCC 3.5). More details can be found here.
The work started a little less than a year ago, and it seems like there has been a fair amount of progress. Not enough for me to give it a shot instead of 3.4.3, which is still considered testing (the default compiler is 3.3.5) on an x86 machine.
This is not to say that I do not have faith in the court, most of the decisions listed above have been overturned or revised. However, I still believe it is healthy to approach the court with a certain skepticism.
"When asked whether the ten year long anti-trust suit had anything to do with choosing Corel's software, the Department of Justice spokeswoman- and I am paraphrasing here- replied 'Uh, yea.'"
I am guessing that the distcc build failed on glibc, and this can be caused by a few different things. Glibc includes a hardened USE flag because building gcc with a stack protector flag will cause the build to fail at a certain point, so the hardened flag removes the stack protector option from that part of the build. So make sure you're using the hardened version of glibc. It could also be that you're compiling across hardened and non-hardened gcc, as this will cause builds to fail. I have bootstrapped a few machines with distcc, so I am guessing it is one of those problems.
Hi, I was wondering where you got the VIA miniITX board? I have been looking for something exactly along those lines, but have had little luck. (I have'nt had time to look extremely hard, but I have been able to find them with normal searching.)
The websites I frequent most are ones that constantly update content, ie, Slashdot, Fark, Boing Boing, etc...
I have multiple folders of bookmarks with these sites, and use the convienent "Open all bookmarks in tabs" option when reading them. I think, however, that it would be more convienent if the tabs were ordered by how recently content on the site had changed, or by how much, or some sort of metric that would place newly updated sites further to the left or right, so that I don't have to view a site to know that its content has not been updated since my last visit.
Sorry, I have to call bullshit. This is obviously not the correct answer.
Having dealt with this problem myself, and seen my friends deal with it too, it has become quite obvious that if the "old broad" is making you give up activities you enjoy with your friends, that your relationship is not healthy to begin with.
As other posters have pointed out, the correct answer is to find a nice healthy medium. Would your answer to give up the video games be similiar if this question were "Hanging out with friends while not ruining a relationship"? I am sorry, but I find little difference between my friends and I getting together to play a few hours of Winning 11 or Chrono Cross or spending a few hours watching a football match. Socializing outside of a relationship does not lose importance or legitimacy simply because the collective activity is a video game.
This is merely the age old question of "How do I hang out with the guys without pissing off the wife?" updated to include video gaming, and the answer remains the same: there must be sacrifices on both sides. You don't get to play all the time, but you still get to play.
Trust me, totally giving up something you enjoy because your girl/boyfriend tells you to is only going to breed later resentment and is a symptom of something inherintly wrong with the relationship. Just as you should not spend all of your time playing the game, they should not ask you to remove an activity you enjoy from your life.

Yes, I'm sure that NPR will publish text articles from all of their shows, because they obviously have the funds and staff to do so, since the government gives them so much money./sarcasm
The cartoon designs (which I am quite fond of) are of characters from the ubergeek website. If you will notice, the creator of said shirts has his email directed there. I highly recommend the "Switch to Linux" cartoon, but then I just have a thing for evil fembots with a penchant for evil...especially when theyre running Linux.
I hate to be a RTFA kinda guy, but I will. Really, anytime you want to bash the RIAA is fine with me, but just get the facts right. This is in Britain not the US and the RIAA stands for Recording Industry Association of....(wait for it)....America
I would NOT recommend caffeine of any kind. In fact, stop drinking it all together. I used to have the same problem you did, and nothing seemed to be able to change it. There have been many threads on./ about the effects of caffeine, and for more information I suggest looking there. Basically, when you need sleep and take caffeine, the caffeine blocks your body from feeling tired, while still having all of the effects of drowsiness. You're brain is asleep, but your body is awake and you lose cognitive functions.
I used to be very addicted to caffeine, but quit because if i missed drinking coffee or a coke, I started to get horrible headaches, and it just scared me too much. As an added bonus, my productivity shot up quite a bit. It really is all about regulating sleep for maximum concentration. I highly recommend a normal sleep schedule and stay away from caffeine. hey now, its beta. i'm sure that will be fixed by the time the code is in production.
Who wants to set up a colo farm in antigua?

Gentoo will do parallel startup, though it is not set to by default:

Modify your

Yes, one helluva record indeed.

That happened, sort of.

I warn you though, it's not pretty.

You forgot (understandably so) about The Search for Youth
(Star Trek 9, Nemesis was 10)
Wow these movies are just getting worse and worse...

I think Slashdot should get an honorable mention for muzzling their webserver...

Well maybe he can't, but I ca-.......aww, crap....
No, you're thinking of a Slashdot discussion...
You forgot those of us who think Microsoft sucks AND blows, you insensitive clod!
