  1. Re:Can anyone here see a problem? on Sony DRM Installed Even When EULA Declined · · Score: 1

I would agree it seems that corporations get away with this stuff. But they don't have to. This case for example, a quick bit of research on Sony of America's site says they are based in NYC. So I would think that NY laws apply to the company. Under "Article 11 - JUDICIAL DISSOLUTION Section 1101 - Attorney-general's action for judicial dissolution." of the NY state code, it seems that if the States Attorney General wishes they can request that the company be put on trial by jury, for committing illegal acts. With remedies that include the company loosing it's incorporated status

If someone knows why things like this don't happen (other then the state wanting the businesses tax revenue and the potential investor outcry) I would love to hear.

It's not bribing, it's making it economical. Businesses will go to the best deal. (at at off shoring). Appealing to greed to get businesses to make the rigth choices, is largelly what the princeple of Enviromental Econimics is based. And it's been show that those types of approches are often more effective at inciting change then direct government regulation.

Yep your correct. ND has the largest wind potential of any state in the union. and it's estimated that if harnessed the state could provided 50% of the electricty needs of the entire country. The largest problem with establishing wind farms in ND is the states has not offered the tax incentives, that many other states have. This has made it more economical for bussiness to build wind farms in other states. The other issue would then be licencing wind rigths from the various farmers over the state. But if done on a co-operative level I believe it's fesible. I can just see it now my cousins sloloming the windmills in the combine.

And the airwaves are public property, any song that has ever been played on the radio has been transmited on a publicly owned media by a a person licenced to transmit that song by both the government (representing you) and the RIAA (representing the copyright holder). That song is now thanks to time and space shifting able to be recorded (albiet not retransmitted) The exact leagality I don't know, but I do find it funny that the RIAA takes advantage of a public trust/commons so they can advertise their product and in the end to make a profit. Since they are licencing Mine and your air waves, I personally feel they should be paying more then they currently are.

Sure the Hydrogen is clean, but you have two carbon atoms and an oxygen atom left as by products. Oh well just have to go check out the Journal.

Apple supports standards, it's not their fault if hardware developers/software developers want to "optimize" things for one OS/processors architecture.

If the developers would look at the open industry standards and follow them they would expand their available market share by 15 % (you know the size of Apple's Market share in the comp industry)

Actually, you can see and remove all the music from an ipod without any third party software. You just have to access it from a command line. It's just enough for the common man to think you can't do it. And they did do some other things to make it annoying, but it is quite doable. As for accessing the file system on the ipod, you can also mount it as a firewire drive you just have to make the selection in the ipod controls on itunes. Now to my knowledge you can't just drop songs into one of the music directories (they are invisible) on the ipod and expect them to play but then I've never tried so I'm not sure.

The real time recording is being used in connection with flight data that is being recorded. We need to be able to at least look at the ground clear enough that we can get some basic topographical details. This video is being used to cross check anomolyies in the data collected by our sensor. The reason for the data files is we have to time stamp everything and our flights are 3+ hours so standered DVM tapes are too short. At this point it accually looks like we will be going with hardware solution to the problem and For both the ease on our processors, they have other stuff to be doing. Thanks to those of you kind enough to give ideas.
