Well, thats what sony claims. From TFA.
"this rootkit was designed to hide a legitimate application, but it can be used to hide other objects."
Q: when is malware a legitimate app?
A: When it got a sony sticker.
Are you assuming that the person writing the letters if familiar with the English language? Is it possible that the terrorist could have come from somewere that does not use our standard alphabet? A foreign country with a reason for terrosit attacks against the US? Might explain the lack of "R" recognition. Just my.02 CAD
If you are taking Mysql's 'helping' to be indirectly assisting SCO's attack on linux, then you should also note that the publicity given to SCO by { your post, my post,/. articles in general} also add to SCO's attack on linux, as more people see SCO as a legit company who's being unfairly treated by Linux hippies who stole their code and are distrubuting it for free. ( note, I'm not saying that Linux did steal code, but a PHB isn't likely going to see both sides of the argument)
From the article... 4 cores with 4 Virtual CPU's. What a beast. And they even talk about licensing issues
we were curious if having eight processors (four physical cores + four virtual processors) would cause operating system-related licensing issues. After all, even multi-threaded operating systems like Windows XP Professional are sold with a "2 Processor" limitation. While technically the system still only has two physical processors, dual-core and Hyper-Threading technologies are certainly pushing this limitation further than Microsoft originally intended.
I find it interesting how, in a world of IP, somebody out there ( Intel ) can still 'cheat' the system by creating dual core CPU's which still count as a single processor, thus allowing for a system like this.
"It's democracy at its best" - We are talking about factual truths here, not common belief. In the 1400's, it was the beliefe of most people that the world was flat. Now, following your logic, if the majority of the people believe it, IE. a Demorcary, then it is true....
Its not the PSP sold at increadibly low markups that Sony makes money on, but most of their revenue is from their very highly marked up software, the same software that could now be pirated...
You really don't understand how his system works, it isn't that each password is 'coded' onto the paper, but each letter gets replaced by a value. So all the paper has to have is 26 fields with 26 values.
the new Windows media player will only play 1.mpg if it contains a header/footer with a checksum/certificate, then the media player will check the online database(s) and the local favorites. (purely my speculation, take it with a mole of NaCl)
I mean, to prevent media piracy, MS would have to prevent you from installing software...

When did Karl Marx say anything about being shot for not cooperating? True Communism should not rely on the military. However, recent implementations of communism have been corrupt. Communism is a political and economical system.
WTF! RTFS e-tax is a web interface for filling out taxes. It is only available to Windows users. There is no tax given to Redmond. Before you post your american troll, read the summary.
couldn't they just go like Gentoo and distribute the src. That way it would be platform independant ( and faster) If they could only find a way to speed up the compile.....
With the new CRIA law in Canada, and now the broadcast flag in America, it looks like the recording industry 'winning'. It's looks pretty bad for those fighting for digital rights.
Don't use Firefox, despite what they tell you, it's shit.
Best you use IE or Opera if you're so dead against IE (Which is a damn fine browser, by the way)
You are absolutely correct. The only reason _They_ are telling you to use firefox is because of "The conspiracy." The developers of Firefox have been saying that it sucks for years. The millions of users? All fake. The whole 'project' is funded by Torvalds in another one of his pitiful attempts to thwart the noble Microsoft. They aren't even charging for the damn browser! of course it is shit!
We've stumbled upon a great conspiracy here, not only are _they_ telling you to use a shitty browser, but to use Open Source Software. Don't believe them either, OSS is another one of Torvalds petty conspiracy's to overthrow microsoft. There can never be another browser, if there is, it must be shit.
Considering less than half of all movies produced (excluding movies from Bollywood) are produced outside of the US, yes it is.
Excluding movies from hollywood, less than half of the movies are produced out of the US, why exclude that large fact? Excluding the population of china and india, the majority of the people live the US. Excluding the 3 goals from Liverpool, Milan won. Your statement has to meaning
If I download a file, I haven't copied anything, as I've got the one and only file which I've ever had - the original, as far as I am concerned. Ignorance of the law is not a defence. ( ignorance of the fact is). If you did not know that you connected via p2p and downloaded someone elses files, then could could try to use ignorance of the fact. However, saying that you didn't know it existed elsewhere will not help.
How popular is it? I honestly have no idea. How does it compare to AAC or the rest of the proprietary formats? Also, what would they define as popular?

If you do have to use 40 passwords, then yes, and encrypted file would be best. ( USB thumb drive perhaps?)

Support costs money.
Indeed it does. Until MS nuts realize that MS products need support as well, this arguement is not valid.
According to Netcraft, /. is ranked 33, while Wikipedia is ranked 117.

I was making a point that the exclusion of Bollywood destroyed his statement. I used an analogy.
