Here's a thought...if the customer really doesn't need your product or it's not worth what you are charging, maybe your product sucks. How about hiring better engineers that can develop a product so good that sells itself instead of paying top dollar for slick sales guys that can talk executives into buying crap.

Living is about what you experience. Everyone's risk-to-experience tolerance is different. Some people only feel alive and free when they sky dive, while others think it's a silly risk. Some people have full and happy lives doing nothing more than playing scrabble. Space travel is a huge risk for an amazing experience that only a handful of humans have. You could die, but the dead don't feel regret for failing to take a chance on a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Racism still exists because of people like Rev. Wright. In order for color to be a non-issue, it has to be a non-issue. As soon as "leaders" start spewing nonsense about retribution and outrage, I stop listening to everything they have to say even if they have a legitimate argument.

Any tool can be considered a "crutch" if it's misused. I don't think anyone that put men on the moon would want to return to sliderules, but a calculator is only a crutch if the user doesn't understand the underlying fundamentals. Debugging tools are just tools until they stop simply performing tedious work and start doing what the user is not capable of understanding.

Actually, recruiting top talent may be the end goal of this and the botnet announcement. The best people in this field will go where they can work on interesting things. Everyone is figuring out you can't do what they want with the money they are budgeting, so I suspect this is all for PR. Get everyone to associate the Air Force with high speed high tech computer hacking and security so that they have a better image for hiring. On the other hand, this could be the Air Force grasping at anything to make them look relevant while the Army and Marine Corps are getting all the attention in the current war.
