Ok, this is too great of an opportunity for me to pass by. Despite the fact that I've got a PC, a PS2, and a library of unfinished games, I've got to pick one of these up.
Question: other than the new Zelda and Metroid, what are the best titles out there for the Gamecube that I can't get on my PS2?
Hey, it could be worse. Comcast has no newsgroups. They provide each broadband account with a 1 GB/month account from Giganews.
While Giganews is a great service, I would prefer the unlimited newsgroup downloads I had when I lived in an area where I had Cox for cable modem access.
Comcast is currently rolling out digital cable boxes with DVR functionality in test markets. A coworker who lives in Arlington, VA pays $10/month for the service, and is impressed with it so far.
Thanks to SETI@Home, my AMD processor has been at 100% utilization almost continuously for the past 3 years. The CPU is fine; however the stock fan has occasionally needed a drop or two of 3 in 1 oil recently.
Right now I've got Sprint PCS as my cell carrier, and broadband for internet access. As long as I'm on the Sprint network, I pay no roaming or long distance charges for calls inside the US.
I will be switching to Verizon as soon as Cellsocket announces their new models. I am tired of Sprint dropping my calls, and being in spots without coverage.
My grand plan is to get a Cellsocket with external antenna, disconnect my home phone wiring from the phone company, and use phones throughout the house, with my cell making/receiving all the calls.
It's times like this that I'm glad I don't pay the local phone monopoly ~$40/month for the "priviledge" of having a landline.
Ever since I've used my cellphone as my main phone, my phone bill stays consistent month to month, I don't pay extra for long distance (or get screwed in intra-state charges), I get no telemarketing calls, and I have one number where I can be reached.
If you're in the IT field for the money, maybe you're in the wrong field. Why don't you do something that you enjoy? (That leaves more jobs for us geeks:)
I totally agree with you, but... here comes the cynicism... DirecTV has money. People/corporations with money influence how government works.
American society is based upon greed. In general, it is too greedy to properly fund our public schools, instead focusing on protecting the wealth of the rich.
I think it the visualizations add a certain coolness factor if you're not just sitting down and listening to music. For example, you're at a party and the music is on in the background.
All we need to do to stop spam is to find the personal contact info (home address and phone number) of the people running the companies. Once their info gets posted here and they get maildotted, maybe they'll realize how irritating and intrusive spam really is and decide to use their evil powers for something else.
I dropped my landline and started using my cell phone as my primary phone about a year ago. How many telemarketers have I had call me in the past year?
Zero.
Not only that, but I'm not paying the local phone monopoly $40 a month for the "priveledge" of having a home phone.
Now I realize that it's not possible for everyone, some people are on dial-up or like being listed in the phone book. But I'd highly recommend it.
At any point in your incarceration, did the government approach you with a deal to drop the charges against you if you worked for them instead? I'm sure their computer security/fraud division could learn a thing or two from you.
Ahh, the memories... my friends and I built slingshots out of Construx and rubber bands, and would shoot Construx "arrows" at each other!
Wait... isn't that what happened to Shawn Fanning?
Wow.. quite a collection. :)
:)
I'll probably just pick up the new Zelda, Metroid, Mario, and possibly Viewtiful Joe... then hope I have enough time to play them on vacation.

Gee, that sounds like Northern Virginia already.

Don't forget accessories (margin is usually upwards of 75%) and... financing! I know Circuit City has their own credit card, not sure about Best Buy.
Plus, he didn't say "nucular."
Every time I hear him say that, I think of Homer Simpson.
Why so little RAM? Memory is dirt cheap these days; I'd consider 256MB the bare minimum that should be shipped with a new system.

Cut your landline if you can!

I agree... it makes me sad when I go to a government site and their information is in .doc format. That's my tax dollars at work. :(
I would be much happier if it were pdf or plain text.

From the privacy article:
Engineers are now developing cameras that employ low-level radiation to "see" through clothing, walls or cars.
Wasn't there a Sony camcorder out a couple of years ago which could see through clothing in night vision mode with a special filter?
That would work for informed users such as you and I, but what about the other 95% of P2P users?
However, you could implement a server-side block on the centralized P2P networks. It would be the opposite of the Metallica-induced bans from Napster!
