This is a huge issue I have with Firefox. A lot of the extensions only work with certain versions of Firefox, some with.8, some with.9, some only with 1.01 - 1.04, and then some only with 1.5. I recently download 1.5 and tried installing the Web developer extension, but that was no go since it only worked with 1.01 to 1.04. Fun.
You don't need an extension for that. Download privoxy and you can get rid of ads and do all sorts of other things, both with IE and Firefox (and Opera and any other browser). Privoxy works under Windows as well as Linux and is open source to boot. Great stuff.
Come on, they didn't steal anything. That's like saying Firefox stole tabs (cause Opera had them before Firefox did) etc. It's this kind of progress we all want. Fi., we don't want one browser patenting tabs and the idea of extensions.
The story is really bad, the acting is worse, but it certainly doesn't portray any single group as the bad guys.
I don't agree with that assessment. Yeah, the story is so-so, but the acting, in terms of voice acting, is really top notch. The textures leaves a lot to be desired (this is *especially* noticable on the hi-res Xbox360 version), but you really can't fault the acting for that.
I think Gun is a rather enjoyable game. It does have a fair number of design flaws, but on the whole, it's not that bad.
Seriously, have these guys even played Gun? The main character survived through the aid of Apache indians (the character named "Many Wounds" saved his life as a baby), and several plot points rely on aiding or receiving aid from the apaches.
Record sales ($11.84 billion), net income down by 2%, but net profit up by 5%. I don't see how these numbers are killing Microsoft, sorry. And that last paragraph was swedish, not norwegian:)
Yes, well, but this time Sony's not saying 299. All they're saying is that it's not going to be cheap. And there's no word on when it'll be released. So, there goes the Saturn analogy.
MS has shipped one and a half million xboxes already (in the period Nov 22 - Dec 31), so there are a lot of boxes out there already. Could be more, of course.
Well, that's certainly true. I could only play this after my kids had gone to sleep. I too miss the old fun adventures -- I grew up with Infocom, Sierra and Lucasarts, and I think it's a shame none of them exist anymore (the Lucasarts that lives on today is so removed from the Lucasarts of old, it's a whole different company.
Thanks for the link to this game. I've never heard of it before, but I'm downloading it now and I'm excited to give it a try. If you get the chance, check out Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy for PC/PS2/Xbox (I'd go with the Xbox version due to the controls being better on that platform). It's a modern take on the adventure genre, and it's a pretty good effort.
Actually, it didn't. I did check that one too. I haven't tried actually installing it with the 32-bit version, though, but since it's a completely separate application, it really shouldn't matter one way or the other.
The thing that really annoyed me about GTA:LCS is that it's a huge step back from Vice City and San Andreas. It's cool to be back in the original GTA3 universe, but losing most the improvements made in VC and SA is really annoying (no stats, no swimming etc.).
That said, this lawsuit is insane. I think now would be a good time to buy Take 2 stocks.
Ok, fine, it's 1080i. I'm shooting for a PS3 when it's released in year or two too (in Europe). It doesn't really matter that much, though. It's not like the 360's got a HD drive anyway.;)
I really doubt I'm the only one that doesn't have a buggy unit:)
It's when you get the games on high def (1080p) on a 150" screen (I'm using an LCD projector) that you really can enjoy the 360. I guess this will be true for the PS3 too. All the games I mentioned looks and plays extremely well.
Of course, you could say the same for the PC. I have one of my computers hooked up to this setup as well, and Half-Life 2 on hig res. with high details is quite astounding.
The first month, I had my 360 hooked up to 32inch TV (non-HD), and believe, it's two different worlds.
Sorry about the non-expensive thing. The 360 is one of the least expensive things in my setup, so I guess I'm biased.
You really can't compare 1983 with 2006... 1. There are rehashes, sure, but there are also tons of original titles (Shadow of the colossus, darwinia, fahrenheit etc.), and the "rehashes", by which I suppose you mean sequels, are often well done and better than their prequels.
2. No one went to college to be game programmers in 1983. The idea would be laughable. If they did, we'd have better games back then.
3. As in no.1, lots of original games are released, with heart and soul gone into the making of them.
It's expensive, buggy, and doesn't really have that many good games available.
You're full of crap. I have had it since launch, and I have not seen any bugs creep out of the woodwork, nor had any problems with it what so ever. I think the launch lineup is rather good, with two very good racing games (NFS and PG3), a very good horror fps (Condemned), a spiffing arcade/adv (Kameo) and a couple of other noteworthy FPS's (Gun and PDZ).
I wouldn't really call it expensive either. A decent graphic card for the PC would cost as much, and deliver much less.
If anyone can revive that shoddy franchise, it's Bethesda. They made the only good game based on the Terminator license back when T2 was big, so this is good news indeed:)
Sure, and that's why people prefer Quake 2 to Half-life. A good story is becoming more important, especially if you're going to reach out to non-gamers.
For the record, Sierra always had good, fleshed out stories. And so did Lucasarts, and Infocom. It's with the FPS's that the good stories seemed to take second seat to graphics, but this has changed to, with Half-life 2 and Halo getting credit for good back stories.
Hehe. I was thinking the same thing after reading the above posts. Well, my bad I guess. Anyway, obviously I was wrong, but it doesn't mean that all these appliances doesn't draw a lot of power. Combined. But if you don't live in Califonia, it's no big deal.;P
Very true. I have three work computers and one server in my office and this is enought to heat me entire office, even during winter.
However, the article talks about appliances that is just onm standby, like VCRs, DVD players, TVs, etc. These generate minimum amounts of heat when in this mode, but still draws a lot of power. This doesn't compare to having computers on all the time and is in fact very little energy efficient.
Yeah, but Firefox didn't have all these things first. Other browsers pioneered these concepts before they were included in Firefox.

Seriously, I agree with you. Hope it's not yet another swords and wizards MMO, though. :)

To add to this, I'm also seeing this, and I'm on Fedora Core 4. I don't use Firefox anymore -- Opera is now my primary browser on this machine.

And yeah, that Atari logo is really stupid.

Any connection to the single player game that was supposed to be out in 2005? http://www.stargate-thealliance.com/index.php?flas h=1

Installing works fine, but it's gone when I restart the browser, and there's no sign of it in the View->Toolbars menu. Bummer :(
Freud should have seen that one...

I predict your prediction is bust.
