That's really excellent to hear.:)
I got a new issue of the UK magazine Retro Gamer in the mail yesterday and it had a huge feature on Sam & Max and Telltale. It's worth reading if you can find a place to pick it up.
Well, as a big fan of the original controller, obviously I don't agree. I never had problems with the button layout and the size was just right IMHO. The slim sized version was worse in every way, but the 360 controller goes a long way of redeeming the flaws of the S controller. If only it were a little bigger...:)
The point is not spending three minutes with your kids, it's the wasted time. When you want to watch a movie, you don't want to pop in the DVD and then wait for several minutes before you can push play.
It's even worse when you have these kids DVDs that show the loud "you're a thief"-commercial in the beginning. (You wouldn't steal a car blah blah blah). The noise and the imagery is actually quite scary for kids. I'm forced to "pirate" this movie to remove the fricking anti-piracy message from these movies (along with several minutes of commercials -- some Disney movies have 10-15 minutes of non-skippable commercials before the menu starts).
By the same token, you should boycott Nintendo as well. Hmm. Maybe you can look up a used Amiga on ebay and get some games for that one (though many of the great ones were made by EA, and many more were distributed by EA, so I guess you're better off just passing on gaming altogether until a shiny and untarnished new corporation appears that will make a console to your liking).
Well, I'll certainly agree to that, but are the games even scheduled for the 360? The online shops I use doesn't give any info about a 360 release for Black (which is the only one I'll consider, really), and no info about the Godfather whatsoever.
Every time an article about EA is posted to Slashdot, every EA hating slashdotter immediately registers his disgust with EA, usually complaining about lack of support for x game x years back, or the simplisitude of their recent 200x sports game.
Give it a break, will 'ya. EA cutting prices on anticipated games such as Black and The Godfather is a good thing for anyone who's been waiting to sample these, and for those who think they will suck, well, let's wait for the reviews, shall we?
Sure, EA has published a fair number of crap games, but they have a long legacy of producing good stuff as well.
Even if all that came to pass, there's nothing to stop the alleged pirates from hooking up the dvd to a projector and copy the output from the canvas.:)
I'm not surprised by these numbers, though I'd point out that the report provides only rough estimates of the costs to build the units. Still, Sony is building this unit with a new unproven processor, a first-to-market Bluray drive and some expensive ram kits, on top of everything else, so I'm not really blown away by these numbers.
Of course, to stay competetive, Sony will never sell the PS3 for what it cost to build it, but this really does put a question mark on how low they can afford to go.
The report also speculates on the ramifications for other companies, such as Nvidia, ATI, EA and others. It's a good read.
Sure. It happens here all the time, but with the obvious editorial okay. With digg, anyone can promote an item to the top if you've got enough user accounts (this time, 10 diggs was enough to push it to the top). I usually browse digg on the "digg for stories" page, which shows you up to the minute added content. There are lots of interesting things that doesn't get promoted up to the main page.
Yeah, well, they're still experimenting with it. It's like the leaderboard on Condemned, where game time is the crowning achievement. Some dudes have clocked several hundred hours in the game, probably by keeping the game on and not turning off the console at all. Topping that list is both uninteresting and stupid. In other games, like the marble blast game or robotron, the leaderboard is phenomenal.
digg is cool and all, but it's got a lot of crap on it. Just now the top article is as follows:
Seagate 250GB 7200RPM 8MB Buffer Hard Drive $69.99

Damn. Now I'll never know which Linux app can replace Dreamweaver...;)
This is good first step -- I want better apps available on the Linux platform. Personally, I'd like to see a good file manager ported to Linux (comparable to Directory Opus 8). So far, every file manager I've tried are either functional copies of DirOpus 4-5 or that old Norton Dos-app.
It's sports - they don't need a live human being to ask inane questions such as: "How many medals do you think we'll win the olympics", or "You just scored the winning goal, how did that feel?".
Now, I'll sit up and take notice if they'll replace a news anchor with Morbo, but I don't think that'll happen any time soon. (If you don't know Morbo, you're not with the in crowd on Slashdot.)
Seems like this is a point to Nintendo on this match. Their games will look good with what people have now, boosting sales over those whose games do not look good with what people own.
I'd wait until Nintendo actually releases anything before I'd start distributing points...:)
I also started out using a non-HDTV with my Xbox 360. King kong was a bit too dark, I though, but games such as PDZ and Kameo looked all right, if not exactly impressive graphic wise. They looked like ordinary Xbox games, but with a lot more potential (more enemies on screen etc.).
I gew tired of using the 32" TV, though, so in january I bought a HD LCD projector. This projector can display 1080p in any size up to 300 inches. I currently display around 100-110 inches on my wall. The difference is truly astounding, with the above mentioned games now looking sharp and gorgeous. Even the Xbox Live Arcade titles improved a lot (except for Geometry Wars, which doesn't really seem to be hi-res).
Sure, mr. anonymous. You got me alllll figured out.
I'm a platform agnostic. Yes, I have an Xbox 360, but I also have a PS2, a Dreamcast, a CD32 and a fair share of other consoles and computers (and I use Linux (Fedora Core 4) AND Windows XP 64 - what does that make me? A Windows shill or a Linux Power User?). I will get a PS3, and the new Nintendo console, somewhere down the line.
I said the same thing with re. the Xbox 360 launch. The best games for that machine was not the launch games, which ranged from ok to goodish, but the ones coming a year or two from now. If you *really* read my posting history, you'd realise that, but uh no, you just wanted to take a cheap shot at the Xbox 360.
yeah, yeah, blah blah. They're first generation PS3 games - they'll be first generation quality. The Xbox 360 titles will be more interesting because they have been in development longer and will take more advantage of the console.
Oh sure, I agree with you that they didn't handle the launch very well with regards to meeting demands, or creating demand, as it were, in Japan. In their earnings report, they also say that the Xbox 360 is sold at a loss, but do not specify how much it costs to actually make a unit, or whether the loss includes promotional activities etc. So yeah, it's going to take time before they earn money directly on the box (the SEC report doesn't say when they expect to do this).
The languages is very similar, but there are some noticable differences. Fi. the letters øæå are pronounced the same in both countries, except in swedish, ø is spelled ö, and æ is spelled ä. There are also differences in grammar and dialects, and of course, swedish sounds like bork bork bork all the time. We also think they're a bit dumber than us norwegians.
And yes, the countries are connected from north to south, and they do drive on the same side of the road as we do, although they haven't always done this. There's some info on this here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rules_of_the_road. Norway is the tiny country just above and to the right of UK. Heh. So that explains the seizure inducing flashes you always see in Pokemon and Anime stuff.

Haha. That's actually rather funny.

Huzzah for your comment. I feel exactly the same way.

If it sounds like an ad, that's because it is.
Yeah, and that's what I meant when I said old Dos style file managers. ;) Give Directory opus 8 a try (dopus.com) and you'll understand what I mean.

Nah, that's just the title of Steve Jobs upcoming self-biography.
Come now, you're just trolling. I've had the original Xbox since it was launched, and it has never crashed or needed patches. Nor has my PS2.
Yeah, that was a stupid moderation.

Yep. If you've got spare Xbox, PS2, Dreamcast or GC controllers, you can use one of these: http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=29&produ cts_id=4532& or
