Is this system actually relying on MAC addresses rather than SSID's? Otherwise how can a system like this rely on a property that is often left set to the factory default or could change at any time?
Also, I guess this relies on the Google Toolbar to work since I assume there's no way for a browser to collect information about nearby SSID's (or even your SSID), right?
By the way, the above questions aren't me being worried about any of this. I'm just curious about how the system works.
That sounds more like a phobia than common sense precautions. Sure, some of the things you mention you do while driving are just good common sense but saying in on holidays or making sure you live near your job seem a little excessive. So if someone invites you to a New Years Eve party you actually say no because you're worried about getting in an accident? Sounds paranoid to me and your letting your desire for a perfect driving record interfere with your social life.
Not that I wish any harm on you but wouldn't it be ironic if a drunk driver crashed into your living room on New Years Eve while you were home alone watching the ball drop?
Removing the "fundamental force" label from gravity is an insult and shows just how little respect these young physicists have for the universe. Next thing you know they'll be ignoring it completely while they sit all smug in their floating universities.
Is this some bullshit attempt by Intel at a viral marketing campaign? There is ZERO science behind this and the other "shape-shifting" video they released. Glass spheres manipulated by electric fields? What? That makes no sense at all.
First the guy waves some rather mundane-looking actuators in front of the camera like they're somehow related to this idea. Then he wows the audience by holding up two different blocks of material and making the controversial statement that each has the same amount of material in them. HOLY SHIT!! WHAT!?!
Seriously, what is going on here? Why are they pushing this silly concept so hard?
Sorry, but this stuff angers me because so many people are eating it up like it's real science.
Honestly, it's not even practical to attempt to work around software patents. Especially if you're a small software company or an individual. It would be impossible to verify that every feature of your project wasn't violating some patent and if you did try to comply you would never write a line of code.
Hiring a sys admin is not realistic for most small companies. Ours for example.
A trained IT person would probably demand 2 or 3 times the salary any of us make. There's no way that's going to happen so the role of IT falls to the most computer literate person employed here. There's nothing rigorous about the approach that person takes and it's all done on an as-needed basis and as a result it's not always reliable.
So externally hosted services can be a boon to small companies.
Not really. Star Wars didn't use Mausers and Tiger tanks (although the baddies were snappy dressers) while Firefly characters wore chaps and carried revolvers.
I watched Firefly based on similar recommendations to yours. 3 or 4 episodes was all I could handle. I think it was the horrible dialog combined with the silly old-west theme that ruined it for me.
The wild-west space - a genre-crossing adventure with the idea that not everyone will have golly-gee technology
This alone is why I couldn't watch more than a few episodes of Firefly. And I suppose not liking Firefly will keep me from liking Serenity (which I watched 30 minutes of and turned off).
As someone who attempted to jump into that system that night I don't agree with your account. I was unable to log in after hours of attempts (I always waited until it kicked me back to the character selection screen...I never aborted the login process) and I finally gave up in frustration and went to bed.
However I really can't refute your assertion that the server gives priority to people jumping into the system over those already in system since I don't have intimate knowledge of the code behind the game. I had never seen this this mentioned before this particular clusterfuck.
Large solar collectors are required and the material needs to withstand 1500K so I don't think it will be useful for those applications.
I bet he feels dumb for posting this article now, eh?

It would be like standing in front of the Death Star's planet-killing laser. How's that?
He's saying it's your fault you were even there. You should have been at home, perhaps hiding in a closet.

I was horribly scarred by a guy back in the 80's when he showed me a fax of Linus using his blanket to snap Lucy's clothes off and then fucking her.

The new image is 2.4 arc-minutes wide according to hubblesite.org
So now that Geocities is shutting down does that mean your marriage will be annulled? Check the TOS. I'm pretty sure it does.
Sucks, dude. :(
No, actually I thought...glass.

Because I thought Android was already open source. Wasn't that the whole point from when it was first announced? What was all the hoopla back then?
Never mind particle physics. How will this researcher's "VR" system react when I pick up the teapot and hurl it against the wall?

Of course that would be fine by Microsoft.
Based on his or her wording I'd say he or she was mainly fascinated with his penis.

Hell, that's cheaper than Boston's Big Dig tunnel and that's only a few miles long.
Seriously, though. Why would anyone balk at even 20b for a tunnel connecting two continents?

Of course. But saying PCBs are "made of silicon" is akin to saying the oceans are made of hydrogen. Accurate to a point but also misleading.
Ah, no. More like fiberglass. I've never heard of a silicon-based PCB material.
I laughed. Even if no one else seems to have.
