  1. Re:What is this? A tabloid? on Xbox 360 Very Unstable · · Score: 1

Good thing someone had the balls to come in here and say it. Someone further up also made the comment comparing MS to Sony and said that Microsoft simply rushed the product to market to get it out there before the PS3. On Slashdot, when the other players bring products to market first (Apple, Sony, etc.), MS is accused of being 'behind the game', or just watching to feel out the market first. To that I say, "well, duh!". Whether the company launches quickly or slowly, it's called STRATEGY. Be assured that it's thoroughly calculated. In this particular case, the launch of Halo 3 is probably more heavily weighted than the launch of the 360 itself. Therefore, in order to time the Halo 3 launch to preempt the PS3 launch, MS probably measured how long the 360 would have to be available for it to saturate enough of the market for the Halo 3 launch to actually have maximum effect towards its goal of preempting the PS3 launch.

Agreed. You might be able to say you're not spending a dime on the front end... and that will put a smile on their faces....for now. But they will, eventually, figure out that their revenue stream is compromised by the lack of productivity on the part of everyday employees, who are too busy adjusting to an entire infrastructure overhaul than actually working. So although they may be happy with you now, if they're able to directly relate profit dips to your ingenius overhaul plan later... is it really worth it? Furthermore, the argument that it's "ok to make all the changes you want. they'll thank you for it later" is pure rubbish. You HAVE to put monetary value on every aspect of the changes you propose - including average Joe employee's adjustment to new technology time. Any decent project planner will require you to submit these values LONG before the plan is actually executed.

...is like turning on your TV, we will know that MS competitors free-but-advertisement-laiden services have transformed the web into a platform. Remember, the Google business model centers around advertisement, and so do the business models of most major television networks. That's not to say that software as a service isn't the new paradigm... but service as a platform is quite a ways off, and if it sucks because it's just like television, we should have seen it coming.

It seems the trend is that companies hire similarly.

But when you walk past certain points, these ghosts come alive directly in front of you. In combination with that sound - the whispers being played backwards...... oh man, the very first time I played that level and reached that point, a ghost appeared in front of me and I screamed, fell off my chair and on the way down kicked my keyboard straight up in the air and broke it.
