That would be kinda cool. AOhelL and MSN secretly install DDOS trojans on all the machines of their users. They then launch attacks against each other trying to take down the others network, thereby taking down the internet, or at least their portion.
No, I do believe that this was supposed to "revolutionize the way cities are designed" and other bs crap like that. Everyone was supposed to be astounded and estatic about these stupid ass things.
I'm not so sure about the 14th ammendment, but as far as the 1st goes you have to look at the context also. When the Constitution was written, the monarchy in England was closely tied to the Church of England (in fact wasn't the head of the royal family the head of the church? not sure about that). The founding fathers wanted to guarentee that it wouldn't be possible for the government to establish any one religion as the "Official" religion of this country. This does not mean that there can be no God in the government. For that look at our laws. They are all based on judeo/christian ethics.
I use the pgup/pgdwn keys constantly all day long. It's a helluva lot easier to scroll through code with them than pull my hands of the keyboard and use the scroll bar.
Freaky rock-holding melon farmer? Wow, why is it that I keep getting called that. Besides, if the guy had net nanny on he wouildn't have had any reason to bitch. So in that case he either didn't have it on, or just wanted to bitch.
How the hell (beg pardon) can you read slashdot and not expect to see falgrant use of vulgarities. C'mon now, you can't pick on one and not pick on the rest.
On my machines I run Sygate Personal Firewall. I have it set to block traffic based on application, not port number (although that MAY be possible also). If an application doesn't have defacto permission to access the internet it will ask me. The I set it to allow my most used applications through without prompting. Works quite well actually. It is amazing the amount of stuff that is trying to call out all the time.

Sorry for the rant. I get sick and tired of people bashing to US. No we aren't perfect, yes we have a lot of problems that need to be solved. But damn, we can't be perfect.
I may be wrong (god knows it happens often enough), but isn't the SCO license only for the portion of the code that has allegedly infringed on their IP claims, and not for the entire kernel.
This brings up another point made last week. Whoever was to buy this license wouldn't get to find out exactly what the license was for until the code that has been supposedly stolen was released in court.
It is not the consititution that is an untruth, it is the fact that we have willingly elected officials into office that are willing to tread all over the Constitution. I'm not only talking about the Patriot Act (put forth by conservitives), but also the limits that goverment is trying to put on gun rights (put forth by liberals). Another problem our country is facing is thef act that the judicial system is now MAKING laws, not interpreting them like they should be doing. Only the Legistlature (be it local, state, or federal) is supposed to make law. Enough of my rant.
Then why don't you go move to the wonderfull socialist state of Cuba, or China maybe? It may not work great, but our form of goverment (which is a REPUBLIC, not a democracy) is still the best game in town.

How much will a few dead skins cells affect the thermal performance? I want to know how many degrees of cooling I will loose. I think I will start putting my heatsinks on in a clean room now.:oP

I just encountered an error with mapquest this past weekend. First one ever though.
Why can't we just put our cell phone on the do not call registry?
As long as they are dolphin free tuna with friggin lasers on their head.
You only see those in the UK.
Crap, sorry, just realized this was humor. Serve's me right for posting to fast I guess.

Nothing worse than an ANONYMOUS zealot.

That sounds like some new form of VD or something.
Yes I can expect them too, and if not the ISP's should shut off their pipe (but only theirs). I'd also expect your sysadmin to do better too.

The image with both Jupiter and Earth was amazing. Seeing our home as just a tiny blue speck on a field of black was humbling.

As my post above stated I have used Sygate, nothing else really. Not everyone one slashdot is a sysadmin :o).

This is off topic and I would probably know it if I had been here on /. longer, but why is there so much animosity(sp?) between BBSpot and /.?
