As for server costs, We are in the process of a migration from CF5 to BlueDragon. Because of the hardware we run on the servers with CF, we would have to pay 8000$ each machine for a CFMX license... whereas we picked up some Bluedragon JX licenses for 500$ each last June.
So far no major snags in the migration.
But one rather nasty one. int() rounded to a 16 bit number, and not a 32 bit, as does CFMX. (this will be fixed in 6.2 - due out forth quarter, I'm told)
At work, we use several of openstorage's products, tape enclosures etc.
So far their dual SDLT35000 based tape rig has proven itself. We also use a few of the Omega scsi arrays.
If you just want flat out space, I'd recommend this: http://www.openstore.com/disk-atabeast.htm The atabeast! It has a pentiumII of some speed in the box, so the raid is all handled in it, and it presents itself as scsi drives, just as you would expect from a raid enclosure.
Trying to convince people at work this is the way to go. About the same price as a raid card for the sun machines.......
I recently bought several 24 port switches off of ebay. There was no way to reset the password, but calling up tech support, and providing a small amount of proof that I did in fact buy these switches, they provided me with the backdoor username/password.
It's documented on their website that they do have a backdoor password, and what you need to do to get it. For me, it took a single email (ebay end of auction), and a 5 minute phone call to get the backdoor.
This would be fine, if the backdoor only worked on the serial console, but nope.. Works fine with the web interface too:(
pretty simple to get kde on openbsd.
1) install openbsd via whatever means
2) as root: pkg_add ftp://ftp.openbsd.org/pub/OpenBSD/3.5/packages/i38 6/kdebase-3.2.1.tgz
3) edit/etc/rc.conf and edit xdm_flags from NO to ""
4) echo startx > ~/.xsession

Clean North is running a recycling even in Sault Ste Marie a week from saturday.
They are accepting donations of used computer equipment, and are recycling the useless stuff. Reusable stuff is being put up for sale that day.

I own a scsi/ethernet device, it's a DayanaPort SCSI/Link-3
theres a 10bT/10b2/AUI ports on it, and i used it once on my classic II in os 7.something to copy everything on the classic at the time off.
the sucker takes a 12V DC plug
No idea if it will solve your problem or not.
However there has been traffic on the mailing lists about Speedtouch modems.
IIRC there were speed related issues, but people were getting those things working in the 3.4 days.
Take a search through the misc@ archives. You can get to the archives through the main OpenBSD site.
No, it's not unavailable, but it does make it impossible to do a networked based install over one of the intel wireless cards.
What concerns about Atheros were those? ath man page

One of the guys who left a while ago started making foobar2000. The interface isn't anything close to winamp's, but the player itself is BSD licensed.
Works one newer chipsets. It dosen't work on my Compaq with a BX chipset. Get some weird error about MP: specification not found.
However, on the newer machines, it zips along. Don't expect HT chips to show up as two cpus though.
From the hackathon, they were saying that a quad opteron was compiling the Open kernel in under a minute.

Microsoft recently sent me a cd full of patches, a firewall, and a bunch of other crap I'll never use. Didn't even ask for it, just showed up.
The angle is 23 degrees :)

Nope, proximitron isn't free. If you want to register it, you need to buy a shonen knife cd!.
But the author didn't bother writing me back asking if my Shonen Knife LP qualified XD
