    I just learned it was, maybe not all that surprising, western nations (GB and France) who made those nations/borders in the first place..

    The enemy of peace and stability have likely often been western military powers interfering and destabilizing regions.

    Thats a very bold accusation, coming from someone who admits to being one article away from complete ignorance on the subject.
    The British and French were trustees of those lands after the collapse of the Ottoman Empire. They had promised independence to the Arabs, for supporting them in WWI. What were they supposed to do? Leave the Arabs to sort out a diplomatic solution amongst themselves?

    The British don't drink their beer ice cold.

    Not that old myth! What you and I call beer, the British call lager, and drink it chilled like everyone else.
    But there is an extra option: if you go to a real English pub, and order a traditional ale, it is served at cellar temperature.
    These days, lager is much more popular.

    Now the question is, how many other NSA contractors / staff / moles / spies have been doing the same thing, without Snowden's intention to disclose their behavior?

    I'm sure the NSA assumes they have moles, and none of the data Snowden released is a surprise to the Russians or Chinese.
    The NSA was just not prepared for the truth to leak to their real enemy - the general public.

    If you don't want a party leader to be prime minister, don't vote for the party.

    You are far more likely to affect the result in your local seat than in the nation.
    Would you vote for Craig Thomson because you dislike Abbott?

    The final straw that gave them away was that they were trying to print $100 bills, but they came off the press as $89.95 bills.

    whereas real US bills are $121.50, with tax and service.

    You don't get to vote for him at all, unless you lived in his electorate, which is a safe seat anyway.
    It is the inner party who chooses the PM. Sounds bad, but do you really want a direct-election system like the US?
    I think its kind of nice when the government can actually pass laws.

    Even for non-hackers, it had substantial advantages over the iPhone 3GS at the time. This was the days of IOS3, when copy&paste was considered a cutting-edge feature, and multi-tasking was only allowed for Apple's own built-in apps.
    Only later when the iphone4 with retina display, and IOS4 came out, did the n900 start looking old.
    Of course there was a price in thickness and weight for all the extra hardware features of the n900.

    How many Europeans know only one language? How many Indians or Chineese?

    Huge numbers of British and Chinese (from regions where Mandarin is the first language) for a start.
    Studying a foreign language in high school is a long way short of being bilingual, but it does help you understand your own language, and human communication in general, in a way that Perl does not.

    Yes, the bible is very clear on that. Heaven is a physical place above the clouds, where Jesus, Mary, a few others and the angels exist in material form, and more human bodies will join them come judgement day. Beyond the firmament of heaven is the waters above.

    Don't confuse the questions of "should I wear a helmet" with "should helmets be compulsory".
    Same with drugs - laws can make things worse, despite good intentions.
