If I had moderator points today I would mod you up. Your post is rational and sane unlike many of the rabid paraniod scrawlings elsewhere in this thread today.
By the sounds of it this hosting company is not a pargon of virtue and light in the first place and if the FBI are investigating a crime then they need to take whatever measures they deem necessary to protect the information they will need for a criminal prosecution.
I really don't see how they would have any alternative in a scenario like this.
All this paranoia is clearly coming from some kind of deep mistrust of the FBI which if it is concerning you then you really ought to do something about it, you really need to be able to trust your law enforcement services !
I was in the station last week waiting for the ATM behind some guy who was spending ages just whacking the buttons and putting his card in and out of the slot.
After 5 mins of this he asked me how the machine worked because he couldn't get any money out of it just his balance because he had chosen the wrong option at the start and didn't know there were other menu options he could have chosen or how to go backwards.
"Regarding Guantanamo, I have no problem with the US holding combatant terrorists for as long as they deem necessary. These terrorists were not fighting under the accord of any acknowledged UN/Geneva conventions of war, thus they are not privy to the protections of said conventions."
Presumably you'd have no problem with concentration camps then either provided your government said it was OK. What the US is doing in Guantanomo is clearly illegal and morally wrong
First of all if the US picked them up off a battlefield where they were fighting American forces then that sounds like they were fighting a war to me and so they should be treated as prisoners of war.
If they are not prisoners of war then the US is presumably extending it's authority to Afghanistan and arresting them in which case they should have access to a proper legal process.
You're are holding a lot of people who you claim are terrorists without actually having proved that they have had anything to do with terrorism at all. The place to prove that is in a court of law.
You are trying to say that they are 'illegal combatants' which is phrase which has no meaning outside the US at all. How have you proved they are illegal combatants ( whatever that is ) without any kind of court hearing or legal process ?
Also so far as I remember the US invaded Afghanistan ( did they declare war first ? I don't remember ) and these people were presumably living in Afghanistan and fighting against the invading US forces and I don't see anything 'illegal' about that.
I often need to request Admin rights to my machine because without them I can't set up any ODBC connections or install most of the software I need to do my job.
It's a fair point that most corporate users don't need to do this but I do on a regular basis which is a pain in the neck since it seems to take 3-4 days for them to grant me the necessary access.
I'm sure Linux has a better system of permissions which would allow me to install the programs I need and modify those aspects of the system configuration which I need to modify.
I've just started playing ET and think it's great. Generally I am pretty crap at on-line FPS and end constantly being killed by people I never see.
However with ET if you start out as a medic you can hang around at the back, automatically heal yourself and get the hang of what's going on around you.
All the maps are fantastic, the objectives mean everyone has to work together for victory and with evenly matched teams the game can go right to the wire before someone wins.
Also the punkbuster thing does seem to ensure fair play and the other players are mostly pretty cool towards new players and will tell you what you need to be doing with the minimum of "f*ckin lamer noob" comments.
I'd definatley recommend ET to get started with, the Fuel Dump map is fantastic.
Are you wanting to install KDE on Windows ? If so I imagine this is a less than straightforward process and you would have to do a lot of reading to understand how you could do it.
If on the other hand you want to install it on Linux then it is easy and a lot of people have gone out of there way to make it easy for you do it.
First of all you should avoid compiling the packages from source code unless you know what you are doing because this can be problematic depending on your setup. The tar.gz packages on the KDE Download site are source code which means they are only text files containing the text of the program. In order to turn these into a working version of KDE you will need to compile them into executable binary program but in order to do this you will need some extra programs and libraries which the compilation process will rely on. Although most of the necessary stuff should already be most current Linux Distributions you may need to track down and install various other libraries etc yourself which is why this technique is not recommended for casual users.
The easy way to install things like KDE is to use a package management system, if you have one of the major distributions of Linux such as Red Hat, Debian, SUSE or Mandrake it will have a package management system. All you need to do then is find the KDE packages for your distribution, download them and click to install. Because KDE is so large there will be more than one package you need to install the whole thing so the only thing you will need to be careful of is installing the packages in the right order, your package manager will tell you if you have not got things in the right order.
Right now Linux is just as easy to use and configure as Windows the only thing which may hold you back are specific Windows games or niche applications because almost everything else is available on Linux and just as easy to install and use as it is on Windows.
Capitalism also makes it easy for the ruling class to gain the most power as is clearly demonstrated by the amount of money it takes to run for office as the US President however I agree that a lot of dictatorships have been nominally communist regimes.
I'm still curious though about which countries have exterminated tens of millions of their citizens in the last 20 years or so.
Please show me any society which has exterminated tens of millions of it's own civilians and explain what that has to do with communism rather than dictorship governments.
"Wait. They did not fully cooperate. They kept balking and stalling at the inspection sites. They even went as far as to kick out the inspectors a few years ago. If they had fully complied, the inspections would have been completed 10 years ago."
They were probably just getting pissed off with hoards of Americans wandering around with cameras making a nuisance of themselves
"No, it decided that it would retaliate against Iraq unless it stopped terrorism and complied with the cease-fire requirements. It gave Iraq plenty of time to comply."
No, it's quite clear the invasion was going to occur anyway regardless of anything Iraq or Saddam Hussain did. You only need to listen to the ever changing series of justifications being pumped out by Tony Blair to see how they had already decided on the action and were just looking for the justification.
Also Iraq has never been involved in Terrorism ( no more than the US was anyway ) so how could it stop doing something it never did in the first place ? This again is just an example of some kind of justification being tacked on to the events in order to sell the idea to the public.
"It gave Iraq plenty of time to comply."
No it didn't, the evidence the US was looking for was evidence of WMD, since these didn't exist in the first place there is no way they would have ever been satisfied no matter how long they waited - it was just a sword of damocles hanging over Iraq's head.
Face the facts, that war was fought for control of the Iraqui oil and the benefit of the US Oil Industry. Goodbye Karma
Yeah, we have a similar company policy. I just ignore it and install what I like because it seems that they have no way of enforcing their policy and still allowing people do do their work.
Some people are just weird, for example my colleague here at work spends hours each day moaning about how slowly sites load on the Internet and cursing web designers for designing such horrible sites.
I am using Opera and everything loads beautifully quickly and I've showed it to him and he agrees it is much faster so I say why don't you install Opera, it's free - go to here and download it or I'll give you the installer here.
He is by no means a technical dummy, he has a Computer Science degree but he just refuses to even consider something which isn't made by Microsoft, he's worried things might "go wrong", he's scared of the wonderful tabbed browsing, basically he's just weird.
I like Opera on Windows and Linux ( it's identical on both ) but I've only briefly tried Firebird on Linux before going back to Opera.
Opera is a flawless replacement for IE, any links you click in other MS Software open pages in Opera rather than trying to load up IE.
Under IE it takes around 20 seconds for our company Intranet home page to load ( yes that is a stupidly long time for an Intranet page ) but in Opera it takes around 5 seconds.
Opera popped up a nice box saying I was about to go to a site using a Username and then showed me the actual URL I was going to go to. No confusion for me !
How amusing, you are moaning about someone pointing out that the "World Series" is a stupid name for a competition which doesn't involve anyone else in the world by saying we shouldn't concern ourselves with Americas "Internal" sports.
I'm not sure if that was ever a Maglev, in any case I think it only worked for a year or so before it was shut down for years and years and years now it has re-opened and is pulled round the track by big cables - it's definatley not a maglev any longer
All this would as nothing without paying to use my patent for "balancing on one or more legs removing the need to use one or more arms in contact with a surface when stationery or moving"

You'll work harder with a gun in your back for a bowl of rice a day.

Even worse a number of pubs I have seen latley actually have ATM's next to the bar, danger - danger.
I think that if you can't declare war on it then it's probably not a good idea to fight a war with it either.
Presumably you'd have no problem with concentration camps then either provided your government said it was OK. What the US is doing in Guantanomo is clearly illegal and morally wrong

I thought they spoke Portugese in Brazil ?

I think the term you are looking for here is "Windowlickers"

Well "Holly Fuck" certainly sounds like an intriguing concept but you should probably have just left out the rest of your comment.
Please show me any society which has exterminated tens of millions of it's own civilians and explain what that has to do with communism rather than dictorship governments.

That's right in English the word is pronounced Jag u ar ( like it's spelt really )
I guess that will about the same time Cricket takes off in the US ;-)
I think you misinterpreted, they split when the cop saw them waving their antennae. The cop had no antennae of his own.
