American workers work stupidly long hours and have less holiday compared to their European counterparts but I don't think that's any kind of acheivement to be proud about.
"If those ppl want american jobs, then they should live in america...blah, blah, blah"
I think you must mean "jobs currently being done by Americans", the point is Indians don't live in America and they don't need $70K salary to live on. There's nothing you can do about that and companies nowadays are International and can employ people where ever they are cheapest.
I disagree, this is perfectly professional. SCO are wasting his time, he would like them to stop doing that so "Please stop wasting my time" is a perfectly reasonable request to make.
The guy has obviously received 2 letters from SCO already, neither of which offer any reasons why the guy should take any notice of them at all so they are obviously intent on bombarding him with pointless timewasting letters, it's right that he asks them to stop doing this.
It's amusing to see die hard fans become increasingly bitter and trying desperatley to justify their love of Star Wars and it's even more amusing that it's their hero George who is putting them in this no win predicament.
I agree completely, most people I know saw the first film when they were 7 or 8, they went to the cinema for their Birthday or they were allowed to stay up late and watch it on TV and they liked it.
I think the whole Star Wars thing is mainly a nostalgic thing, the first 3 films weren't really anything exceptionally special - Indiana Jones is much better but it reminded people of their childhood and liking Star Wars and collecting the figures and playing Star Wars games in the playground became a habit, a habit which has unfortunatley persisted into adulthood in a lot of unfortunate victims.
It's no wonder the last couple of films have been derided by nearly everyone except the most fanatic die hard fans because everyone was expecting to have a cinema experience similar to that first time all those years ago - when they were 7 or 8 forgetting that they are now in their mid to late 20's and not children anymore.
The new films were rubbish which didn't help, what I can't understand is how come anyone is interested in what George Lucas is doing when it's perfectly obvious all he's doing is generating vast amounts of cash for himself.
That was a rant and I apologise, I don't even know why I am reading this story.
If I were to copyright the unique prints on my hands and then could I charge the company for keeping a copy of my copyright in their database or refuse to let them use it ?
We could write a text which is recursivley interpretable unless you accept the idea that if you want to know what a text is about you read it ( but only for yourself and on the behalf of 'everyone' ) and if you want to know what the author was trying to say when he wrote it you read his diary or other notes explaining this.
I've had a look through Groklaw to see if I can find the comment I read, it was very detailed and provided an excellent explanation of what seems to be going on.
This comment is also a pretty good read for all the people on here saying how they are going to short stock
Groklaw Article I must sleep now but if anyone wants to try and track down the info search Groklaw for things like "thinly traded", "high closing price", "short squeeze" and it may turn up.
I've been reading a lot about SCO's stock, following a lot of interesting links on Groklaw.
From what I can see the vast bulk of SCO's stock appears to be owned by either SCO or people and business from the Canopy group so the small amount of dealing going on from people not in those groups is pretty small compared to the dealing going on by people in the groups.
This means that it's quite easy for Canopy and SCO to keep the stock price pretty high by simply trading it amongst themselves, specifically a lot of people have noticed that the stock begins to dive in the mornings but then before the close a number of trades will be made at very high prices leaving the stock with a high closing price.
Anyone interested should look for the links and commentary on Groklaw since my memory and understanding isn't perfect.
This has specific implications for anyone thinking of shorting the SCO stock because basically SCO and Canopy have pretty good control over what the stock does and that's bad news for people hoping that it will act as though it was largely owned by members of the public.
AFAIK in the UK Banks have to accept anything as a cheque provided it includes all the necessary details to complete the payment. Or at least this is what an old Economics told me, you can write checks on the hide of a skinned cow if you so desire, apparently.
Rubbish, I think any kind of bank or currency exchange place is going to make very sure the currency they are accepting is real. I mean seriously how is that conversation going to go?
"Hi can I exchange 1000 Transylvanian Vlads ?"
"Hmm, well I have no clue what that looks like..."
"Oh, it's genuine alright, look here it says 'Genuine Vlad' in that biro font in the top corner"
"Umm, yes I suppose it does but still I think I ought to check it's real before I accept it..."
"Check it ? Look, I'm the customer here and I say it's genuine - what more do you want to know ?"
"But it feels awfully like tissue paper ?"
"Oh yeah, that's normal all Translyvanian is printed on tissue paper - it cuts costs."
"Printed ? Most of this looks like it's written in Biro and drawn in Crayon..."
"Ah, when I say 'printed' I'm speaking technically, all Transylvanian banknotes are rendered individually by craftsmen to ensure their validity - each of these notes is unique and can be traced back exactly to the Master Printer who crafted them. It's a security measure"
"Hmm, well OK then but I don't seem have any record of this currency or what the exchange rate is"
"That's OK, look here I've got the latest bang up to date exchange rate written down right here. It's $1000 for each of my Vlads"
"$1000 ? That seems awfully high, I thought the $ was a strong currency"
"Yes, a lot of Americans make that mistake but I can assure you it's 100% guaranteed accurate"
"I see, well even though I've never seen one of these notes before in all my 20 years of working on this currency exchange desk and despite the fact that there is no record of any exchange rate and this note is not listed in my bang up to date book of all the worlds currency and it looks to me like a very dodgy fake I'm going to take your word for it. So here's your cash sir and have a nice day."
Australian money is excellent, I remember the amazement when I was on holiday there last year and discovered you can go swimming with a pocket full of bank notes and they are absoloutley undamaged when you get back to the shore.
Also it's cool that you get so many of them for each English Pound you have slaved away so hard for;-)
So far as I can see IRiver provide excellent support for their players.
Back when I bought my flash player a year or so ago there was nothing offering support for OGG but IRiver said on their website that they would be looking to support OGG soon.
Sure enough we now have OGG support for the players which does prove that they are company who take their commitments seriously and do listen to what their users are asking for - there is a very active forum on their website.
Also they are a proper multinational company and not some fly by night operation.
When I have 90% of my music collection in OGG format it is nice to have a portable player to play them on !

Not all that free, the US subsidies it's farmers and Steel Industry which make it impossible for other countries to trade with them in these areas.

I think the copyright notice at the bottom of the page should give you a good indication that this is in fact run by Mandrake.
I've never had a problem ordering CD's from Mandrake but when I bought my Club Membership they took the money and loast all trace of my order.
However it only took 2 e-mails from me for them to sort it out, they said
"Sorry, we don't have a clue what happened with your order but here are your membership details, welcome to the Club"
So I think 0 marks for their ordering system but full marks for their customer service and helpfulness.

I think he even mentioned a demon wearing a turban being crucified on a cross
Well how about I register the copyright and then wait for God for to challenge it ?
If I were to copyright the unique prints on my hands and then could I charge the company for keeping a copy of my copyright in their database or refuse to let them use it ?
Yes, it's available for both Windows, Linux and Solaris.
That's an interesting article, why on Earth was the parent modded as Flamebait ? His was a perfectly reasonable question.
You call it Greed but all they're trying to do is make money for their Shareholders, many of whom will be based in the US.
Or the Scodown as I like to think of it.
So it's defined in the dictionary then ?
I've never heard the word "authorship" before, is this a kind of floating content generation system ?
