the best we can ever hope for is automated freeway driving no pc can handle in town driving theirs just to much stuff to factor in then. for a full system to work it needs to be a mix of gps moton sensing cams and other stuff.
someone hitting a spike strip or losing a tire the human factor takes over on the driver keeping the car under control and stoping it. even then it does not always work out.
i dont think they got arrested for owning the char but for driving it on puplic roads where something like that would not be legile to drive. be the same thing as driving a gokart or mini bike down the express way you would land a arrest and some fines for doing it.
didnt they get enough of that from sco and m$ the last few years. users dont need to hate linux becouse they ask nicely for a fix and normally someone be it coder or another user helps then get a fix. granted theres some driver issues none can currently fix but many people do try like all those oss wifi drivers. they dont need to sue sue sue to get something in or out of the os of choice.

i have had a few small pc fires in the past mostly due to the power supply or monoter. lucky in all cases the fires where small and quckly put out. and even the pcs where repairable. i own alot of electrical eq i always a keep a fire extinguisher rated for electrical fires to put anything out that catches fire. but its very rare when something does get that large to need it most pc fires as long as you cut the power put them selfs out. you would be surprised how many people spend tens of thousands of dollars on electrical eq for there home but doesent go get a fire extinguisher witch in most cases can be gotten for free from the local fire depot and recharging them is always free.
also note yes we still have coal burning plants. but something like 60% of the usa is hydro electric. hover dam can handle that much on is own. i wont disagree the other 40% thats not hydro and coal burning is very bad. nuclear power on the other hand back in the 60 and 70s was rushed out despite the people who made it warned of the dangers of meltdown and the unsafe reactor desines. we knew it when we built them but we wanted another large power source like are hydro plant to badly to care. protesters then had a real reason to protest and we paid the price for it as well. but this is today not 40 years ago the newer reactors that have been thought up are alot safer and friendly then the ones from 40 years ago.
if you brick the boot.ini in xp it will still boot in most cases. its normally used in xp to boot more then 1 windows os. however if your pc is rendered unbootable you simply insert the xp install cd go to the recovery console and type fixboot c: or whatever drive xp is on. it will then restore the boot.ini to system defaults.
tazers are not even ment to be used more then once. that can kill you. so its the cops misuseing them not the company. if a tazer failes you have to eyther call for backup or move to more effectiv means.
sometimes patching dosent always work as a old dev i knoe this. i had one program with a miner bug that plaged it no matter how mutch i tryed to patch it it would not go away. a patch i orginaly figured a cuple days would up being a cuple months. couse i had to rewright the entire program for the bug to finnly be dead.
acpi has always been buggy for me. it loves to turn off my pc fans and not turn them back on then the system would go into emgery shutdown due to overheat luckly at least that works right. so i add these to grub. acpi=off apm=off noapic. that totaly turns off linux power managment noapic may or may not be needed i had to otherwise my usb mouse wouldent work.
deal with the devil and you get burned. novell has lerned this lession the hard way. the so called patent is a weak one and was shot down in the 80s aruldy. rember it was m$ apple vs xerox and xerox lost.
raoches die rather easly they go squish. problem is there numbers 1 roach normaly means 10,000 more in your house. they also hide in walls in sewers or any dark cool place they can find. wile its true threre immune to short term radition at least all the forms that where tested on them i dont think they would servive long term. they can servive on very little food and water but what will they eat if its all radioactiv.

i dumped cable for dsl in my area and its alot better. the cable hear wanted abought twice as much money for the speed i have.
