Alex: There's no fleet, no Starfighters, no plan. One ship, you me, and that's it?
Grig: Exactly. Xur thinks you're still on Earth. Classic military strategy: surprise attack.
Alex: It'll be a slaughter!
Grig: That's the spirit!
Alex: No, my slaughter!
Grig: (makes some weezing sound thats supposed to be a laugh)
HBO just HAD to run that one over and over during summer vacation. Now I can't get it out of my brain, that and some Conversation Alex was having with Grig about "Caves above ground"
God, I hated the 80's
OK, for what ever reason, you can't switch all your users to a mozilla based browser for politics or whatever reason. but YOU should switch as should anyone with domain admin rights.
Asumming you have some control, your users have "user" rights. But YOU have "Admininstrator" rights too all \\workstations & \\servers...
All it would take is YOU clicking on the wrong link and bye-bye domain.
(as if your ego would allow you to assign yourself a meager 'user' account.)
I work at a bank. A lot of the applications used internally are web apps that require IE... Mozilla/Opera aren't an option because those apps require MSJVM (Microsoft Virtual Machine - no joke), Active X or other proprietary MS technology.
I'm not talking simple forms here, this for Foreign Exchange transactions.
Zinf has long allowed for the saving of digital broadcasts, from shoutcast at least. But I havn't tested it on other formats, like.m3u streams and what-not (and can't 'cause I'm at work)
7-zip also uses AES with a 256 bit cipher key for it's password protected file option.
I store my personal backups in the 7z format, as I've always had a bad feeling about WinZip's zip cipher scheme, so I wonder what issues the 7z's encryption implementation might have.
BEDEVERE: Do you think he meant the Camargue?
GALAHAD: Where's that?
BEDEVERE: France, I think.
LAUNCELOT: Isn't there a St. Aaarrrgghh's in Cornwall?
ARTHUR: No, that's Saint Ives.
( A muffled roar is heard. )
BEDEVERE: Oooooooooh!
LAUNCELOT: No "Aaarrrgghh... " at the back of the throat, "Aaarrrgghh... "
BEDEVERE: No! "Oooooooooh!" in surprise and alarm.
A computer science major can RTFM and get by where mosts certified vocational guys can't.
Being that I'm a vocational certified type, I need to differentiate myself by doing what the rest of the drones can't.
Sure! You can configure a router worth thousands of dollars, but can you build a linux router for under $800.00? Most branch offices under 200 people can live with a minimal router and a measly T-1, and they'll appreciate the savings,
Hey, if you think you can get a job after passing a test, (and keep it for more than a few weeks) maybe you should consider something closer to REALITY
-I Installed OpenOffice1.1 beta on a Windows PC without the Java runtime environment -Then copied the "c:\program files\OpenOffice" contents to a share on server.
To start it, I just navigate to: \\server\OpenOffice\program\soffice.exe and Launch!
Now I can recover corrupted MS Excel and Word files AND create PDFs from user doc's from any users PC in the orginization. (ok, the "export to.PDF" needs some work, but it's still cool)
Or if you don't want to launch the generic 'Master Document' thing, adjust shortcuts like so...
OK, it's not like I've used many of these (o.k., just e-gold). Also, they don't have a O'Reilly hacks title dedicated to them:
iKobo, Epassporte, e-gold, authorize.net, Yahoo! PayDirect, 2Checkout, iBill, Kagi, ClickBank, DigiBuy, VeriSign Payflow Pro® and Payflow Link®, Affero, BTClick&Buy, CCAvenue, CCBill, CCNow, ClickBank, DigiBuy, DigitalCandle, FastPay, ImagineNation, InstaBill, Jettis, Kagi, MembershipPlus, Moneybookers, MultiCards, MyPaySystems, NoChex, PartyKey, Pay-Line, Paymate, Process54, ProPay, Reg.Net, RegNow, RegSoft, Share*It, StormPay, SWREG, V-Share, Verotel, VolPay
I saw a weak outgoing attempt to 209.171.43.27, but nothing came back :-(
Better role the ol' VMware snapshot back just in case.

I read, maybe, a novel every other year or so, though the other text I go through doesn't seem to met the criteria for arts.
Hey! We can't all be libral art majors!
Help us Sony, Pioneer or Fujitsu!
Focus group's of American electronic companys say no one is interested in such things!

Certificates, multiple passwords, encryption...all moot
Now watch Paul Allen get his cheap ass and start funding his current vapor-ware project
What ever happened to depolymerization?
Just snagged some tunes from magnatune

Being the Chairman of the Appropriations Committee, I'm sure he'll get to the bottom of all this wasteful spending.
I hear he's a potential presidential candidate too.

Is it using Swing?

Same reason why people bring me broken staplers, since, after all, I fixed a corrupted database and debuged a ven-duh's code.
Policy makers, like users, are morbidly imbecilic and tend to clump unlike things together.
Broken code BAD! But Ken Fix
Stapler jamed BAD! Ken Fix code so Ken fix stapler too...(grunt)
It's a complete logic disconect.
If you like spaghetti because your house is made of bricks, then you to can be a policy maker.

In the last re-org, I.T. just got put under H.R.
I smell death.

Yeah, their is some lag. But it's not that bad.
You can even burn the program directory to a CD and it works, save the occasional write error
