If you do go for a Pay per Deliverable approach, make sure the deliverables are well defined. And make sure that there are clauses in the agreement that handle changes to these deliverables. Most software requirements are moving targets. You don't want to be in a situtation where you only get paid when you meet a certain requirement and that requirement keeps changing.
But the space program died out even after Apollo 13. The American public didn't want to support scientific exploration of space, they were only interested in beating the Russians to the moon.
I remember when you could call people and social engineer the number out of them
Hi. I'm Mr. XXX from Bell. We believe there has been some unauthorized activity on your account and need the last 4 digits of your calling card number to cancel the card....
Well put...
We tariff you, you tariff us, everyone is hurt.
We have lots of X, you have lots of Y, both countries jack up the price to hurt each other.
The US (and other countries) seem bent on keeping their status by holding other nations down by not allowing them to compete on an open market for products that are mutually benefical.
If western countries really wanted to help the 3rd world improve its standard of living, they wouldn't exploit them.
Products are made in Tawain and China for one simple reason: Lower cost of labour. Yet the west does little to improve this problem, we just send aid packages to ease suffering.
I'm not an American and have never lived in the US.
I am Canadian, and I'm proud to live in a country that has open immigration policies that allow people to try and make a better life for themselves.
I mean no disrespect to my southern friends, the US has proven itself as a powerhouse of innovation time and time again.
I believe all citizens of western nations should allow others to compete equally in the world economy.
However, in North America, Canada will rule... After all, we are bigger, and we're on top!:)
swaret works well, just be carefull of one things (at least I've bumped into this issue)
If it updates the kernel, make sure you run lilo before you reboot, or you'll be looking for a boot disk.....
What kills me is why the Canadian Government isn't creating their own software to do this, then giving it away free. E-filed returns must save them mega-bucks!
The least they could do is let me deduct the cost of the software...
Don't forget Deadlock Detection! I work with this every day.
My one complaint would be that the logging system is slow... Restarting with a lot of log files can take forever!
They should really change the UML acronym... Unified Modeling Language is very commonly known among software professionals.
Of course, it peaked my interest on how they were using UML as a debugger....
It'll be a year befoe we know. Unless I missed a year somewhere...
Little late to jump on the Linux Bandwagon isn't it?
Besides, $699 is more than VxWorks license costs!

When I was in school, the last thing I would have done is ruin a good sirloin steak with Coke. However, I would dissolve it with beer (in my stomach!)

That's not a power of 2. I guess you didn't read the article!
How about Aarh, Matey, have ye got any warez?
That's how it's done in the labs of Fiber Optic equipment vendors!
That's why you never give your real name to your girlfriend....

Maybe they could just hire some real people to do this. I doubt that actual operators would fall for the voice mail hack, although you never know....
Won't, Jesus Saves... And takes Half Damage be more appropriate here?
Hmmm... Linux, D&D, can it be any nerdier?

I thought the EU wanted their own version so they could get metric results? ;)
By using 40 bits, they save on the memory space every pointer uses... Using 64 bits, they would double the space used vs the current 32 bit system.

How many people have connected an ICE box to a JTAG port? Some days, that makes me volatile!
