Yes. Hellas is greek for Greece. It is the "proper" world for Greece and the one used from Ancient to Modern Greece by Greeks themselves (whe say "Hellada").
'Greek' is also of ancient origin and is the word that other European nations called the Ancient greeks. It comes from the Slav world "grex" (greek-latin conversion, sorry) , is a derogatory term and means "the imposter". There are other possibilities for the origin of the word but the aforementioned is the most convincing one.
So, Europe (and US) call Hellas as Greece and Asian counties call us Yunanistan (And that's another story:)
What percentage of the actors are big movie stars?
In reality most actors are starving , they are being exploited (big time) by the studios and then the studios (and MPAA) present to us their victims as our own.
If you are an aspiring actor, you will work for free for quite some time just to get your face on screen. Of course the guys who create the movie get money for it. I know because one of my Teachers is writing the script for a small movie and i had a very interesting conversation.
I suppose people think that all actors are the Hollywood million dollars actors but it is not so. (maybe that's why i've been seeing my comment modderated up and down for so long.)
What are you talking about man? You sound like you are forced to copy the "illegal" Linux , and apologize to SCO for decreasing their income?
Maybe it's a new kind of irony i don't understand?
But Linux is legal right Now, no matter what SCO says.Mp> It is also reasonable that they are selling you a Unixware license for legitimizing Linux. This way , when they Loose in court you may have a hard time getting your money back (after all you bought UnixWare.. not Linux)
Yes, im a sure it happens everyday to Slashdot readers.
Especially when it resembles a Windows UI.
I mean it's buying "Penis Enlargment" from spammers or something.
Oh! Great! It say "1 message waiting" I have a new message! Hooray!!!
If you need anything , you buy it at the time you need it. This applies for more than DVD-R/RAM/RW .
I , however , am a poor poor college student. I can not spare 200 Euros as easily as most people. Plus, i don't REALLY need stuff like that (even though i REALLY want it).:)
And the 2 year limit is relevant. I mean, my main box that i am writing right now is brand new, only 2 years old. and my other box is a 486 which , acting as an X-terminal , is perfectly ok. So, to me 2 years is nothing. To others 2 years i a life time. (Well 2 years is a lot to me too but i pretend i don't mind:)
Not to mention that i will have invested time and money in the media (the disks) that in a worst case scenario will be totaly useless once my device breaks and i can neither find support nor buy a new device.
Well, it's about time the scene begins to clear a little. Such reviews are generaly pushing people towards buying products that are praised by the reviews , and we may see a standard sooner.
I would really hate to buy now, and in a while be the guy with that "weird" DVD that lost the market war so long ago.
Well, here is a try.
Browser = fyllometritis (counter of pages) !
HTML = Glwssa shmansis yperkeimenou
Firewall = toixos prostasias (protection wall:)
Server = diakomistis (from "diakomizw" means transfer. So server = transferer):)
I really doubt, however, that it will mean anything. I suppose that it only seems funny if you are Greek.
A better example is:
Calling the "server" , "the contraption that undertakes the task of servicing other parties".. or something stupid like that.
If you this this is weird maybe you should listen to the Greek words for "browser" or "task bar" or many other computer terms. They are particularly bad because they were not made with simple translation in mind. But,rather, they said "Hey , let's show off how vast our language is". The end result is that nobody uses the Greek terms and everyone unless it is accompanied with a great dose of humour.:)
Too bad Greek uses a different alphabet and i can't give you an example.
Apart from that. Why is this so important? The French speak french , the Chinese speak chinese and the Klingon speak Klingon. What is so newsworthy about it?
I don't know how it is set up, but does it also take your picture if you put it back later? Otherwise the picture on the checkout will register you as a thief..
God , i would love to be able to make trouble about that. If you live in England , try it and if they mark you as a thief then unleash all your fury. (and i don't mean "Slashdot reader mode" fury. i mean "Quake 3 mayhem mode" fury).
In Greece there was a sudden supply of really cheap (i mean 30 Euro cheap) stolen Kalasnikof (or what's it called). This is a combat rifle , not a toy. This supply was braught by the uprising in the neighbouring Albania. So it is really safe to say there are many many "war" weapons in the hands of many citizens (and mostly criminals i may add). Do you know how many die from these weapons every year? No? Well neither do i. I can not recall the last time there was a murder.
So don't blame the owning of guns or the breaking of gun laws. Blame the society and the rules and values on which it is based that drive these kids to something like that.
Listen idiot. I am smart and i do have enough money for many P800's. That does not make it any less true that you find lots and lots of "bussiness" people and teenagers who love to flash around their new expensive phones. These people mock the safety regulations and have no clue as to what the "mode" in question is. Others, thinks that being a bussiness executive excludes them from the obligation to turn it off.
If you think i am wrong , great. You fly with one of the above mentioned people.
To be honest, i hope they don't. It really don't want to trust the average idiot who had enought money for a P800 and knows not how to use it, to switch it to the appropriate mode. Most likely they won't.
And i am afraid that there are far more of these devices sold to idiots than they are to geeks.
I took the picture from this site. I will show it to my friends and tell them "If you ever see me going to camping with a computer and a 21'' monitor, shoot me."
Seriously, i too love computer gatherings but isn't going to camping a little too much? (I think there is also a Userfriendly comic strip with this subject.)
I just don't understand why it is cool to do a Pc/Hacking gathering in a tent.. maybe i am getting old..
Microsoft was taken to court for bundling the IE in Windows because Windows was already a monopoly and using one monopoly to win in another market (browsers) is illegal. KDE and Gnome are no monopoly. So there is no comparison.
Ok. Ok. To all you who pointed out that Bruce Lee is Chinese. You are right and i was wrong. I guess i lost my right to go to Japan... I will unpack my bags now.
Dear slashdot. I am writing you to inform you that this will be my last post from my country (Greece) as i am now moving to Japan. Don't worry though as i will be acquiring one of those new hyper fast connection that i saw on your site a moment ago.
I will miss you while i try to settle to my new homeland and try to learn Japanese (Alas, whatching Bruce Lee movies has not been very helpful). I have to stop writing as my parents are coming to tell them goodbye (I haven't told them yet as it was decided 5 minutes ago.)
Naturally as an adicted Slashdot reader i will find a place to live by submiting an "Ask Slashdot " Story and browsing at score 5.
I don't know about SCO but i suspect that there is a good deal of Microsoft code. This is evident from the Animatrix where one of the features tells the story of a glitch in the Matrix.
I somehow feel happy it does not run Linux. We would never escape.
What we don't know is what percentage of users made this sharing. I mean is this 15 percent drop due to a few people doing massive shareing , or to many little ones that just got scared without reason?
I suspect that this must have affected only the US based mega-sharers. I , in europe, have no reason to fear any threats from RIAA.
This is slashdot man.
If it run Win XP, the article would read: Maniacal robot running Windows XP is unleashed unto the world. How long before it kills someone?
The article must be slashdoted because i can't get it.
The RPM/DEb ideas are really good. The main problem i have however , and don't really know how can be solved is combining binary packages with source code packages (eg. when you compile you own X). When the time comes and you want to update , let say Libc, then you will be unable to do so because the dependecies include almost every package.
Or when you compile a program that is listed as a dependency to another program , you can not install that other program because compiling from source code does not update the RPM database.
It seems that binary packages are only good when you stick to what your vendor offers you.
Using --nodeps is not the solutions because it defeats the whole idea of depencdency tracking.
I'd rather know if the girl next to me wants me.

These costs are coming out of the "starving artists". That's why they are starving.

Ofcourse this will happen only in the beggining. :
As people get used to MS quality products it will be more like
Mommy the TV crashed again? Shall i reboot?
Especially when it resembles a Windows UI.
