'Realize that this technology is inexorable, and come to the table,' says Hemming to our friends Hilary Rosen and Jack Valenti."
Continuation of blurb above... "'Realize that this technology is inexorable, and come to the table. Yes, operator, I would like to speak to William Smith in NY, NY.
Sorry, I dont think that idea would work. Too many mixups possible. Besides, have you ever had to change your number to prevent people from calling you? Admit it, its nice when you change your number and the "undesirables" somehow don't end up with your new number. This would seem to be a circumvention for that. (remember accordign to the above idea, the number can change, just not the name)
I would like to report that as a beta tester this new bios has served me flawlessly. I have 100 percent faith that I will never suffer any loss of data on its behalf. For all you skeptics out there I can guarantee....
I have a ghost image of my OS with all of the applications I like setup installed and my system configured the way I like it (made after a clean install and all apps reinstalled). I have two partitions, one for data, games, etc., and th other for my OS. Ghost file is stored on the data drive. When things get cluttered, I simply restore the ghost image. I get my system back to "like new" state, the way I like it, and the whole process takes at most 7 mins.
If this law passes, I bet a lot of people in California are going to turn their spam filter Off. I know for a fact I would. Hit those spammers harder and line my pocket at the same time!
On a different note, doesn't my DVD player necessarily decrypt the data when it displays the picture on the screen? Are all DVD players therefore illegal? Or am I missing something else, too?
The DVD player is not intended to bypass copyright, simply play the contents of the disk on your TV screen.
...that laster the US defense dept. has that they have used to shoot down projectiles with? Could this possibly be used and in part funded by the defense dept.? The next evolutionary step for military lasers?

And to go with this.. consider the home user.. Say on a cbale network. Attacking one person on a cable network will negatively impact all those on that particular node. A DDoS agains an entire group of people not related to this in any way. Lawsuit up da Azz..
Go blind?
Maybe, but you still get a wicked buzz...

In true geek sense, keeping track of all those ladies is supposed to be done via PDA.
Since when has it been illegal to shoot people who cut me off?!?! I've been doing that for a good 5 years.
.. and if the quality of games is any indication, being programmed by truck drivers is appropriate.

Redundant Arrays of Inexpensive Planets
You can tell google was a human design, it wants to RAIP (pronounce it as it is spelled) other planets.
This would require a 1000-km diameter storage ring
Oh, is that all? A mere 1000km storage ring. For you US folks out there, that is approx 600 miles.
On a serious note, what happens if you miss with this thing? It is quite interesting scientifically, however interesting never implies practicality.

Sounds like 1984 wants to arrive, just 20 years late...
Whoever coined the phrase, "better late than never", obviously did not have this in mind.
At a million dollars a pop, the US govt. sure gets ripped off on theirs.
I've already got a dog to do that, and it runs off of that biologically friendly Dad's stuff...
