Internet control by the MSM and Hollywood is going to happen. Maybe not this year. There will be a '9/11' like event or some other method but it will happen. Give it up geeks.
I can tell you that Lamar Smith does not care what you think. Congress has been paid $96,000,000,000 dollars by the MSM and Hollywood to enact this censorship. Money talks, the other thing walks.
Yeah 30 years in computers and electronics here also and the IT Manager for six. I let the boss know about the important issues that will need his attention. Otherwise I am just telling him about problems that he cannot do anything about. It is always the good news that should be passed on and let the bad stuff lay.
If you find yourself out of the loop just go and visit with the people. Nearly everyone will want to share what is on their minds, including all those nagging problems that have not been reported. The haters will always hate, but most people will want to share with you.
Man up time. I am transferring domains off of godaddy, writing and calling Lamar Smith, and will get support from our county and city governments. It is time to put a stop to fear mongering, corporate control proxy, and censorship by the federal government.

RE: SOPA 3261
I am the IT Director for (redacted, an entity in his district). I have 28 years IT experience.
Please cease and desist with the SOPA H.R.3261. To me the bill reads like a bad joke.
Thank you for your consideration.

I do not find this comment at all interesting or insightful or what ever the mod checked.
If you give the users hard, complex stuff they will not like. These 'computers' are really workstations. The users need to be able to accomplish work. Make it hard and for what reason?
Make the behind the scenes sound like a mix of rocket science and brain surgery but the workstations are for work.
Let HR do the dirty work that they are paid. If they need to monitor then let them buy cameras and microphones. IT should not be the Internet police, ever.
Any good manager knows the slackers. Just because the slackers can use the computer should not move the problem from HR to IT. Fine if they need to use the IT policy to fire. But that should be the end of IT involvement.
Well most of my users love me. At the annual party I get cheers. Everyone complements the IT staff work verbally and in writing. Once in a while a hater will hate. Really all it takes is to treat the users like people and things will work out just fine.
I figure that out of every hundred users there is going to be at least one hater. I have three haters. If you are IT and feel disrespected it is probably by the few selfish and self-centered people. Just ignore their phobia and treat them like adults. One day they will grow up or get pushed aside.
What bands did you use? I'm getting ready to buy my first HF rig, and I'm trying to figure out if I can go with an MFJ single-band right, but I don't know what's best for DXing.
I had to use bing for our county website for about a month. The google search broke after patching the slackware box with the latest Apache. I was surprised at how well bing worked. Of course I went back to google after finding the error in the script.
Much akin to the 80's and 90's where everyone was slapped with an engineer title. I was a Customer Engineer for a while but in reality an electronics technician. So an EE can now be a Citizen Engineer. Wonder who he knows/is related?
And they are shipping their economy to France. If they kept the power production in house it would feed their economy. This would be like the USA getting most of it's energy from the middle east....oh wait, we do.
Blocking the bad country IP ranges will not work. The bad guys simply buy botnets or hosting. User education is the only real fix.
From a technical point of view I would love to protect the network from everything. But the reality of human interaction is that the bad guys will get in by phone, fax, email, visiting in person.
Maybe if we call this a war it will give the users a bit more of a scare. After all the only effective way to teach something like this is to scare the users into compliance.
The only way to protect a network is user education. The bad guys will visit in person, call on the phone, email and find a way onto the network. Not even closed networks can be secured. Only a well educated computer user base will work.
That is all fine, until you send a drive out to re-cycle that was not wiped. The only way to be sure is to physically destroy the platters. I don't think a couple of holes is enough. The platters need to be shattered.
Microsoft needs to stay out of the electoral process. We need to use Paper ballots, scanned by linux (open) based machines. This electronic only stuff will end badly.
I am glad that this was modded up. There would be no need for paper logs, illegal receipts, or even electronic logs if each county would just let voters use paper. The ballot gets scanned and counted then goes in the hopper. Keep all the paper for recounts and you are all set.
How hard can it be? These are votes and each one is critical. It is worth the paper.
With headlines like this it would have been best to shut down for the day.

The MSM owners control this story. The only thing wrong with RIM is lack of MSM funding.

Looks like GoDaddy is about to get a RIM job. I am moving my one customer from GoDaddy.

This comment is 'right-on man.' Just look at Patriot. That act was in someone's back pocket ready to go.

Ten Meters was great and will only get better.
It helps when the sunspot cycle is on the upswing. During the CQWW last month it was almost no effort to work Australia and Japan from Texas.

Yes KeePass. Our 3 person IT office have used it for a few years, no troubles.
