..It can be implemented main-stream, for less cost and be more efficient that current processes. Until then this is all just intellectual masturbation.

The dude is in as root (via adb shell?). note the '#'. I guess he's still got a point about 666 on private files. As long as you have execute perms on the directory, you can read files tagged o+r.
anything novell is offering is better suited for use as an example of what *not* to use. sorry, but someone please kill mono with fire, and while your at it, drive a wooden stake through the lump under the blanket next to it - silverlight.
the vatican words this like the internet is some conscious body making decisions and choices of what people are or not doing. in reality, people are doing no less than exercising their free will. truth is, vatican, some people choose to do things the catholic church deems inappropriate. the internet is just a medium which peopleuse to represent whatever religeous viewpoints or perspectives they want to, without people getting burned or strung up for not complying with the dogmatic consensus. at least for now.
Add multiple screen support to your manifest file. 2.1 stuff seems pretty compatible so far, at least the stuff I've tried. Motorola and google only just released the honeycomb/xoom dev stuff a couple weeks ago. also, the price makes the xoom a bit out of reach for some.
it's really frustrating trying to learn guitar. Following finger positions is almost impossible at first because as you face the person everything is backwards and your brain wants your hand to move left, for instance, when you see the other person move left.
what's more is trying to learn guitar with guitar-hero and the like is like trying to learn sex through masturbation. You are kind of doing it, but there is way more going on with the real thing.
i 'll be checking this one out when it hits the shops!
I wish I could feel better about apple. Every time I read abut how they are worried they are going to loose a niche, I feel like I'm getting bent over.
Over the past 20 years i've written about a dozen pieces of shareware. Open sourced several programs too. The part that was important to me was that people find my software useful or fun. I do it because I enjoy the work, not because I want to get rich.
Why would I volunteer to use a government sponsored program that I may get charged for when I can just use Enigmail in Thunderbird, or gpg the message otherwise?
Second problem: "It will allow service providers to charge for sending messages".
Major fail. It sounded almost good until I read that.
Because a skilled unix admin possesses the knowledge to turn a downloaded iso image into a hardened firewall, web server, db server, reverse proxy, network sniffer, VPN, router, iSCSI target, computing cluster, spam filter, XMPP, SMTP, FTP, SNMP, DHCP, NTP, BOOTP, TFTP, SMB (ad nauseum) servers, and/or NID/IPS device. All without a Cisco, Oracle, Windows, Barracuda, Vmware or other site licenses, seat licenses, or maintenance contracts.
Most admins I know do not posses these skills, nor do they posses the interest in obtaining them. Perhaps there isn't necessarily a decline and fall of the system admin, but a rise in ubiquity of first-tier administration.
I used to record stuff from my hauppage card, remaster to MPEG-PS and then burn to R/W DVD. With my Boxee I just leave the recorded shows on a Samba share and stream them to the boxee over wifi.
All of my mp3's play on the boxee as well and the boxee has this little dancing-gfx-bar thingy on the music player application to give you something to watch while the music is playing.
The remote is cool with the keyboard on the back, but not something you'd want to surf around with all day. It does make keying-in passwords and accounts much easier (for pandora, netflix, etc). It's really nice to be able to pause/rw/ff my streaming content from the network too.
The way boxee aggregates all the internet content is really nice too and now having Netflix streaming available is pretty awesome. It was the best $200 bucks I've spent.

"Screwed by the USA and it's Mortgage Racket" counts.
No way I'd run it without antivirus.
been that way forever in some states. this is nothing new for some people.

Maybe create a little negative press for MySQL and in the process Oracle looks better.
Microsoft has become a douche. In Microsoft's eyes, anyone *not* writing applications for the Windows platform is a "Pirate".
Except the US is more sneaky about it than China.

when a future employer, coworker, s/o, insurance comgoogles me I don't necessarily want them to know everything about me.

Or rather, many more mistakenly, earth-like planets
Just wondering if these were mac, solaris, linux or windows servers that were cracked. Anyone know?
I've never been able to get myself to buy Hitachi drives after the deathstar episode.

The problem is people generally don't think things have gotten Evil until there is some sort of large-scale crisis.

The extra camera is nice and the added processing power is welcome, but still no flash or usb. I'll pass on it.
