They do sell a lot of their content, to other broadcasters around the world and in the UK on satellite. They also sell their programs on DVD and radio programs on CD.
Its an alternative way of getting programs that you just missed instead of hitting something like UKNova and bittorrenting the shows.
How many times have you been talking to someone and they mentioned something that was on the previous evening and you think D'oh! I wanted to watch that. This will allow you to watch it.
America has long had a policy of discouraging reprocessing of nuclear waste because it produces supplies of plutonium and other 'interesting' fissionable materials aswell as reclaiming a lot of reusable fuel.
The UK along with most of other nuclear powered countries reprocess their waste.
Primarily the difference is a company to point the finger at if anything serious goes wrong. There are others, but thats the main one. Same reason why companies use Redhat Linux instead of Debian or other community distributions.
Not really. If the companys motto is "Do No Evil" and then they behave in an evil way - threatening and hassling a legitimate domain owner, then they are definately not sticking with their motto.
A bigger Google was always going to develop more evil.
Two UK cities also made the cut - and I neither are on the list of places I would want to live, and I have visited and spent considerable time in both.
Some people need to know their exact dose though - those who work in the nuclear industry have their dosage monitored very tightly. So X-rays and such add to their allowed limits and so means they can't work in hot areas if they exceed their allowed monthly/annual dosage.
Instead of limiting the awarded damages, get the patent holder to put up a bond of a few million per target when they lodge the case. It should limit them a bit if they loose a few million every time they lodge a troll case.
Why rely on piracy when you can claim the tax back?
They can send thousands of CD to the countries getting the OLPC and claim the full retail costs of Windows as a charitable donation and so tax deductable.
Also since Novell has the Microsoft Agreement, then Novell users won't get sued for using the MS OpenXML format. Anyone else who includes and uses Microsofts copyrighted & patented technologies risks a visit from the lawyers.
What about guests of students? Or people trying to find a student to pass on a message? Or those helping a student with something?
There are plenty of reasons to be in the library & lab and not have a card, just so long as they're not using the resources and leave as soon as they are done.
Passing enough electricity through a wire so it glows to provide light is obvious - AFTER someone else thought of it. Its so obvious someone else did and Edison bought the patent off them.
During the Falklands Conflict - the British Harrier pilots used that tactic to great effect against the supersonic Mirage jets of the Argentine Air Force. The Harrier being the original vector thrust aircraft with the ability to 'hover'.
Can motor when there is no wind - is the only one really. Sailing yachts can go faster than 5-7 knots, they;re more eco-friendly, they look better. Oh yeah, you need a clue to be able to sail them (although modern ones have reduced the need for proper cluefulness).
I'd like to see a move BACK to sailing ships. They're more eco-friendly than making a whole load of solar panels, which could be used in places where the need is more pressing.
Spamhaus provide a special version of their ROKSO database to law enforcement (if requested) which not only contains all their details, but logs and other information to backup the claims that they are spammers.
The court case was probably done in the States because they knew Spamhaus would not contest it and then they can turn round and say "we're not spammers and have won court cases to prove it".
Unfortunately, everything is computerised and you have to provide ALL your details to the airline who forward it all onto the US government agencies to check.

The kids have always had the extended family of the Zoo staff. There is more footage than just the crazy stuff of Steve, there is a lot of him being a caring father during the filming of the TV series. Who else would be laying concrete with a toddler?
But then it is mentioned on the BBC page about the program, and we know people don't read the articles :-)

But fast boot times have been available for years.
My car stereo (www.empeg.com) has been able to fast boot linux from flash for over 7 years.
Anyone looked at the list of patents Microsoft has and checked them against GNU/Linux (Samba & Freetype being the most likely to infringe).
They claimed "good quality" scans, but unfortunately all the scanners currently available aren't that good :-)

The sweaty fat kid at college had loads of mass and no one interacted with him. :-)
Perhaps neutinos are similar.

It would help if the article was quoted properly.
Freeserve was the UKs first FREE ISP (only pay the call costs).
It was not the first ISP in the UK.
Well its more believeable :-)
