There's a Mac OS version, supposedly, so you could run it on Basilisk II on x86, or run it under Mac OS on a real Mac (can OS X do 68k code, which I strongly suspect it is?)
Actually, I've seen (US) Windows 2000 ISOs that take a slight modification of a French W2K CD key, and barf all over regular US keys.
Now, as for XP, the OEM CDs rarely have the same content as the retail CDs, unless your PC manufacturer is a whiteboxer. Notice on many newer computers the icon right below Run in the start menu? Dell puts "Dell Solution Center", I've seen Averatec puts something there, and I'm sure others do too. This is something on the CD. I know, because in a pinch, I had to grab a Dell WinXP Pro CD for an HP, and it worked, but showed the Dell Solution Center in the start menu. (Reminds me, I need to crack that copy still - it's never going to touch the Internet)
Slashdot could self-destruct their servers and blame it on a power fluctuation, so that they lose their logs...
Also, go through, oh, Freeshell (they're probably not going to give you up), Anonymizer (or something even better), and a few zombie Windows boxes... Then, you'll be less traceable.
Actually, those aren't the primary reasons. A Google app can be perfectly stable, and still be in beta, because "beta" for Google means looking for a way to make money off of it.
Now, I don't have a problem with that at all. Also, I do agree that in this case, Google has GMail in beta for other reasons too (maybe not even the making money off it part - AdWords has been adapted to GMail, so they might already be making money off of it).
And THAT, my friends, is why.cum should be the pr0n TLD. If my hands are misaligned on the keyboard, I might just type.cum instead of.com. (It's happened to me that I'll get misaligned, but I'm still typing other stuff correctly on other rows with the misaligned hand)
Well, I've been considering implementing my website as a wiki. Basically, the wikiengine that I use would have to be simple, run on Freeshell with an ARPA account (preferably a USER account, so I don't have to pay up), and allow access control. I might end up getting an offline wikiengine for now...
Keep in mind, though, here's the versions I've used of each distro:
RedHat 8 (didn't seriously use it, just played with it, and didn't like it one bit) SuSE 8.2 (HATED that thing - RPM hell in the worst way - then again, if you aren't RedHat or Mandrake, there just aren't any packages for you) Mandrake 9.2 (liked it, and I didn't even have URPMI working right (didn't know about Easy URPMI)) Mandrake 10.0 Community (I do agree that the GUI tools were slower, but this is between an RC and a Gold Master, so making impressions from it isn't fair - URPMI is nice, though - just type "urpmi" and the name of a program, and it's installed)
I do know that RH has yum, so that's available. However, I've never liked RH.
FWIW, you don't need cable TV to get cable internet, or we'd be on... nothing, as we got cell phones to avoid getting a phone line, and DSL (let alone naked DSL) isn't available in our area.
People can SURVIVE without communications. They NEED food, they NEED clothing in some climates.
Of course, it's almost impossible to have a monopoly on food without government involvement (wait a second...), but if it happened, we'd be slaves to it.
Cingular+AT&T Sprint Verizon Alltel (they DO have national coverage, anyway) T-Mobile US Cellular (I know they exist, but I think there are large areas where you can't buy their phones (where I live, for one). They still work, though - we looked at US Cellular when trying to find a good actual plan (we were on prepaid)) Nextel Tracfone (does that count, though?)
Virgin Mobile and Boost aren't listed - they are really Sprint and Nextel's prepaid services, and Boost is most definitely not nationwide.
And then, eventually customers will get pissed, and the company will collapse (unless the Republicans get corporate welfare in). The only time where that won't work is if the monopoly on essential products (food, clothing, etc., etc.)
On a (somewhat) related note, my purchased (OK, free after instant rebates) NEW Nokia 3588i (Sprint) is losing Menu, 1 and 6 (especially 6 - I have to take the faceplate off to get 6 to work).

What, like my school, in which about 75% of the computers have genuine FCKGW Windows XP Corporate?
Granted, these FCKGW copies got licensed after the fact, but they still started out pirated...

No. Considering the FCKGW versions were leaked, I'm taking it to mean "Fuck Gates, William" - Bill Gates.

Nitpick: MP3 had been around for a few years when Napster came out...
FWIW, here's the generations of P2P:
Generation 1:
Napster, other services with the files being listed on a central server
Generation 2:
Kazaa, with many servers with apparently seamless integration
Generation 3:
ED2K, Emule, Gnutella, etc., with many different servers, no centralization (except for stuff like the ed2k server list sites)
Generation 4:
BitTorrent, with centralization down to who your friends are and Google's ability to find torrents

I like Mike.
FWIW, I HATE Bush AND I hate Kerry (note capitalization, though).
They showed a picture with it worn on the back of the swimmer's head. The bone stimulator was cheekbone-mounted.
I'm thinking that would cause lots of drag, the way it looks.
IMO , they're a LOT better than SuSE or RedHat.

What was the bit? They're using a long, high-speed bit, not a cutting disc.
Basically, of the Big Three Opteron Providers (IBM, HP, and Sun), they're the cheapest for dual-CPU workstations.
Anyone remember Cray?
Why, yes, I do. They learned that lesson too, and are now using Opterons...
FWIW, Java Desktop System (their distro) is SuSE based.
The HE and EE Opterons are the equivalent of the LV Xeons. One runs at about 35W (I forget which, though).
Time Warner is the actual provider.

Then how can consumers say that they won't get x because of the company that makes it, and that company is the only one that makes x?

I'll be replacing this with a Samsung SPH-A660 (AKA Vi660) as soon as I can get the rebates on it...
I don't think I can get away with warranty, seeing as there's physical damage to the faceplate and the antenna (the cap on the end is missing).

I saw "GNAA Last Measure" and IMMEDIATELY slammed the back button - before Opera's JavaScript, or hell, rendering, engines kicked in.
