    Though it still blows me away. I mean you can get a fantastic 35mm film camera for less than 1/2 that of a digital. I don't know, maybe Nikon has a cheap D30 in the works or something, but barring that, the barrier to entry into the realm of SLR's is about to get a good deal more expensive.

    The touchpad is not compatible with Apple's Inkwell and it's a G4-based laptop. All that for a mere $1500? Save up another $500 and buy the new Macbook.

    IF you RTFA, they mention that while Linux may install on older hw, running it on a desktop will yield unacceptable levels of performance, and you can forget about running things like Open Office. They're not trying to say Windows is better on legacy hw, they're saying that, out of the box, Linux is just as bad as Windows.

    Though you can still buy players and people have a ton of tapes. I see this more as wishful thinking on the part of consumer electronics mfgs (who'd love for you to have to buy yet another player format) more than anything else

    Yesterday, somebody on a sysadmin list mentioned that at his ISP, they were seeing about 6 infected machines per day on /16. He didn't say how full the adrress space was, but even at 25% utilization, that's 6 out of 16k. Not exactly Melissa.

    Yes to both. And you know what? While I'm all for finding new, more efficient and cleaner ways to generate power, as long as my lights are on, I couldn't fucking care less how they make the electricity to do it.

    Passive solar collection (photovoltaic and otherwise) and wind power are really the only truly "green" power sources.

    The processes to manufacture these are also green? Ever seen a semiconductor fab? Clean? Yes. Green? I dunno, what color is arsine gas? If you smell garlic, it ain't the pizza joint next door.
