    I don't know where you bank, but my bank's website doesn't complain about IE being all patched and up-to-date when I connect. Actually, they also accept Firefox.

    Actually, it didn't. A lot of those retards hung on to their jobs while good people got canned.

    The biggest thing that changed and has not changed back is that before the boom, people went into IT because they liked it, the money was secondary. Now, there are many people in IT for the money and to them it's just a job, not a passion.

    Really? Doesn't that assume that you have at least 15% of margin to play with? A lot of business would kill for that much.

    It's a pretty common clause. Better go check. That's why it's best to list a bunch of exclusions when you fill out that paperwork. Most time, unless they are in direct conflist with what your employer does, they buy off on them.

    You are still bound by any agreements you have with your employer when you blog, especially if you represent yourself as an employee.

    On a slightly-related note: Has anybody else noticed that Information Week has been getting awfully thin these past few issues? Trouble on the horizon?

    Programming is primarily a self-starter job. You learn by doing, and by using free resources out there on the web. Why pay money for a book that regurgitates already free information for two pieces of free software.
