I don't know where you bank, but my bank's website doesn't complain about IE being all patched and up-to-date when I connect. Actually, they also accept Firefox.
Why would you let your SO attach an unpatched and unprotected PC to the Internet? Would the author let her walk SF's Tenderloin after dark in a halter, leather mini & fishnets?
Actually, it didn't. A lot of those retards hung on to their jobs while good people got canned.
The biggest thing that changed and has not changed back is that before the boom, people went into IT because they liked it, the money was secondary. Now, there are many people in IT for the money and to them it's just a job, not a passion.
"I'm willing to pay to attract a more qualified customer," Kosciewicz said. "It costs me 15 cents in advertising for every buck I get back in sales. That's a great margin in any business."
Really? Doesn't that assume that you have at least 15% of margin to play with? A lot of business would kill for that much.
It's a pretty common clause. Better go check. That's why it's best to list a bunch of exclusions when you fill out that paperwork. Most time, unless they are in direct conflist with what your employer does, they buy off on them.
You are still bound by any agreements you have with your employer when you blog, especially if you represent yourself as an employee.
On a slightly-related note: Has anybody else noticed that Information Week has been getting awfully thin these past few issues? Trouble on the horizon?
OK son, that's the big dipper, the little dipper, and over there to the right of the Cialis ad is Orion. No, that's not his schvantz, that's his bow son.
You are a marketing department's wet dream. They get you to pay for something and then you give them more business to justify having made your purchase. Think about it.
Programming is primarily a self-starter job. You learn by doing, and by using free resources out there on the web. Why pay money for a book that regurgitates already free information for two pieces of free software.
with a passenger? I have a hard time grasping that it takes more concentration because somebody is conversing via a hands-free phone. Perhaps we should outlaw talking while driving?

Don't knock a good gummer until you've had one. :)
WTF? She told me she was 18, blonde, slender and hot!
By and large, people who are passionate about what they do are very good at it, or at least try very hard to be very good at it.
Simple covers 2. I simplified. :)

Email can be logged and tracked. Hard to move 40Gb over the phone or on paper.
Any organization of sufficient size has untrustworthy people. Any.
A 40Gb writable device that easily attaches to one's computer.
If I said it once, I've said it a millions times, don't exaggerate.
If this isn't the first time he's spoken out against them, then why is it news?
