    I think it might only be you.
    The last time I was in Spain ( ten years ago), a bunch of drunken youths were sitting around in the town center throwing bottles, yelling loudly, and annoying everyone.I'm sure they would have fought us if we hadn't ignored all the shit we were saying as we walked by.
    An older local I knew believed that nothing was done because nobody wanted to go back to the days of Franco-Fascist-Can't-Do- Anything, which everyone hated with a passion,and as a result were tending to lean too far in the direction of letting the kids do anything they wanted to.

    Who sees Russian Sabotage in anything anymore? I haven't heard that statement in years, except for possibly in the recent Ukrainian blowup. Where, since Ukraine is right next to Russia and has/had one of it's main seaports, and photos show Russian commandos running around without identifying badges, seems a reasonable suspicion.

    Plus, regardless of what everyone thinks: Sucks that the rocket went down, everyone should hate watching attempts like this fail.

    I'm guessing, should I stand on the US Canadian border and do something dangerous, such as fire live rounds into Canada, that the Canadian authorities would "clench their buttcheeks" too.

    I've said this before: you CANNOT use Japan as an example for anything to apply to other countries.
    Japan is a seriously unique country, in Geography, history, culture, and attitudes of the people.
    Things that would work in Japan would fail miserably elsewhere, and things that work elsewhere just don't work in Japan.
    I've traveled on every continent, and lived on a few, and Japan is simply different.

    I think, in the end, everyone places a different line between what new technology is fluff, and what is useful. We're all fighting over that line.

    I think the worry, and it's reasonably credible, is that if you let the market decide, then even if it comes out half-working and prone to failure, lawmakers will point at it and say "See, that technology works", and mandate it's use.

    Your fallacy rests on the idea that guns can only be used for inflicting harm on others, which is entirely untrue.
    In my mind, I parse your statement as equally ridiculous as " Nobody who wants a pineapple should have one", and move on.
    Guns are well made pieces of machinery, capable of propelling small amounts of metal large distances. Most are extremely durable as well, and being able to handle them correctly requires patience and skill. Why wouldn't someone find them interesting. People like cars, coins, airplanes, all sorts of things.

    In other words, are poor black and rich black lumped into the same group?

    I've got a friend in Australia who I've known for upwards of twenty years. Recently I learned that she believed that everyone in the US drives around with a gun in their car, and most people carry them everywhere.
    I found this out when she asked where in my car I keep my gun.
    Misinformation is everywhere.
