    You should remember that the only holes concerning linux are the ones found from the kernel that has the name linux. Everything else is just software that can be run on GNU/Linux and many other operating systems. World isn't only windows and linux.

    Maybe because DSP is designed for digital signal processing, not to handle branches and stuff that ordinary CPU does.

    In Finnish nouns change too. We don't have prepositions like to and from so we have to append stuff to the end of the word to change it's meaning. School means same as koulu. "Koulu|i|ssa|mme|kaan" means about the same as "not in our schools." Welcome to learn Finnish :).

    What if the kernel used year 2008 is the Hurd? Is it still "linux". We should really speak about free unix like operating systems.

    What I have heard in irc the cracker had user level access to system and used linux ptrace bug to gain root. It is sad that this happened. Cracker probably used at least some of GNU tools to do his work.

    I am currently ircing on grand stand with WLAN equipment. The view is awesome, thousands of computers filling the partyplace. Assembly is awesome party and I recommend it to everyone.

    What is your "Linux UI"? There isn't one. Some desktop environments that are available for GNU/Linux are windows like because users have probably used windows earlier. If you meant GUI that uses X11 for graphics then you should try ion, pwm and windowmaker. Those GUIs have real innovation that isn't from M$.

    "to enable stealing their programming." But you can't steal anything that isn't a physical object. The author of this article uses misleading words. If I "steal" some of their broadcast how much they lose? A good question indeed.

    It wont be happen because plan9's and linux's licenses are incompatible with eachother. You can't use all the code that your eyes can see.

    Debian isn't a "linux distribution", it is kernel independent operating system. They have ports for netbsd, the Hurd and linux kernels. And the name of the whole operating system is GNU/Linux.

    Actually hurd supports partitions that are 2GB in size and it will support larger than that.

    It is interesting to see monolithical kernel systems trying to implement features which are basic stuff in multiserver microkernel operating systems.

    What are you meaning with that Linux environment? Debian isn`t limited to one kernel (Linux) and it can be run on hurd and netbsd`s kernel as an example. Maybe you meant Debian or GNU environment.

    After I got my new Duron 800MHz system I only had a pentium 133MHz computer. I begun to overclock it and and tried to do that pencil trick so that I could unlock the multiplier. After I had taken the cpu cooler off several times the cpu was ruined and all the edges weren`t sharp anymore. Then I tried to see if it worked and pressed the cooler with a screwdriver. It went there in place but I destroyed one component on motherboard. After that I took the motherboard to a local electronics shop for soldering. It worked fine after that.

    You can have different views to the subject. To someone the GNU system + all the other pieces that aren`t developed by GNU is the free operating system that Stallman decided to build long time ago.

    The operating system should really be called as GNU/Linux. You can read the reasons from gnu.org/philosophy.

    Sounds neat. We need more GNU/Linux hardware makers to make users familiar with the free operating system. I don`t know how free lindows is but bringing choice to users is important.
