You're right, Kilo means 1000 (thousand) and MEGA means 1.000.000 (one million) since ancient Greek.
Then again, Kilobyte means 1024, Megabyte means 1024*1024. It's all about CONVENTIONS.
The term "Kilobyte" thus, is inspired in the original meaning of the word "kilo", but it is not obliged to mean 1000 bytes.
Language is alive and evolutes. Since all the industry uses 1KB = 2^10 bytes, HD manufacturers should do so.
Not that this sue is right, not at all. I still find it ridiculous; just another case of abuse of the legal system, where the only beneficiary will be the bloodsucker lawyers.
Well well, isn't this funny...
USA is the most "liberal" and "liberator" country in the world when talking about why all other countries in the world should open their markets for US-produced goods and services, but when it comes down to lift their own commercial barriers, it's time to whine and complain, right?
Give me a break.
I asume your "Doing nothing" does include keep bullying the world just as USA always did since WWI, a behavior just related with the "hate America" consequence you talked about.
Ok, "AFAUK" seems to be... well, not that far, after all:) Let me remind you there is a WORLD outside USA. There are sovereign countries out there. Things actually happen out there. So, when you say things like "no city/state/province has run an all-electronic election, let alone an entire country" just try to be sure to specify you are talking about your world, i.e., USA.
Well i think you're missing a point too.
The mere fact than robots fulfill those robots doesn't mean that there will be 50% of unemployed people. Think of the classical example of machines taking the place of laborers in an assembly line. There WERE objections and pressure, but commen sense took place and replaceable workers were, in fact, replaced. But people displaced from assembly lines were then able to do other things that machines couldn't. I have no doubt that is the way things are going to take: just as the robots do all the things they can, people will do others things than robots cannot. I think workers will more and more become service providers. That's how society progress. New services will be provided from people who can dedicate to them, since they don't have to be cleaning or cooking. But of course this implies training and education.
I see a world where everybody do what they like, providing services machines can not provide, while robots do all the work they are able to.
And now, since Mutual Assured Destruction is not that mutual anymore, madness is back. Farewell Irak, Iran, Siria, Lebanon. North Korea? mmm i don't know. They might have a couple of nukes, and since American government just doesn't mess with someone who can strike back...
Or why do you think they're going for Irak, anyway? And for North Korea, after that? To stop Chinese growing, among other geopolitical minor things. They're going to stand on China's neck breathing and whispering "just look how close we got..."
It is not inmoral to ask them to pay you... unless he can't afford it. If you CAN save their lives but you won't do it unless being paid, you are pretty much scum.
Well, i guess that's why you are not into diplomacy.
Too bad that many or your political leaders are as narrow minded as you.

"and pricey clothes all seem to come before vaccinations, sanitation, and education."
What? I thought those were covered by the government.

By "citizen" you mean "a citizen of the united states", right?

If their claims don't concur with reality, they could hardly present proof. So i don't quite see your point.
Nobody mod up a sane, non-satyrical first post. Cruel world!
I mean it.
