The documentation that comes with the system encryption is sparse. I ran through the tests on my RAID-0 laptop and at boot time I get "ERROR: Insufficient memory" (I've got 2GB... and a 64 bit CPU) so it failed. Additionally the documentation is very sparse when it comes to features like Windows Hibernation; it implies in the docs that it disables hibernation but who knows:-/
Forums are down so can't see the rest of the users screaming (assuming they can boot, of course...)
Installation of anything under windows generally requires admin access and eve is no different. You don't have to run eve as administrator though.
Vista folks were (are) lucky but like most other OS' an administrator can pew pew any file they like. Don't blame Windoze any more than Linux (rm -rf / whoops)
I suggest if you haven't seen the film Das Leben der Anderen (Lives of Others) then it's well worth doing so. It's a work of fiction but afaik has basis in fact.
I'm running Ultimate on a few computers and can't for the life of me think what features are worth paying the extra for. Bitlocker - would love to use it but my laptop has a RAID-0 set of drives so bitlocker just hangs. Dreamscene - movie instead of wallpaper. Shame I have to open windows that then obscure it *cough* Texas Holdem - rarely play it Language packs - yeah - dead useful
>>Let's do some math, 10,000 packets, at a standard ethernet packet size of 1.5 K
>Sorry, what standard are you talking about? >If you're talking about MTU (which is 1500 bytes, not 1.5K), that's the maximum, not the standard.
It's a standard not the maximum. Most ethernal networks are configured with an MTU of 1500 bytes but it's common to see 9000 MTU especially if they are carrying database (NFS) or iSCSI (block) traffic.
You say "National self interest" as if it's a good thing. As the internet is helping demonstrate the physical soil borders we were used to in the 20th Century are outdated. Microsoft may be making money for "Americans" but it's also making money in each country that is taxed by those countries, and employing people in those countries.
OSS != free software. Free software != the best software. At least, not in every case.
I imagine that the next few centuries are going to be interesting as globalisation *really* kicks in - see AllOfMp3 as an example of what can happen.

As several of my teeth have gone the way of the fairy, I wonder how this "treatment" copes with teeth that have been root canal filled.
And what colour does the new tooth grow back at? It it's pure white - fantastic as it'll put lots of whiting products out of business, but bad as it'll have the pringles effect; once you start you'll have to have all your front/visible teeth done, even if they are just discoloured.
Ah - the land of the free - where disk space costs nothing.
Assuming a lossless CD consumes 500MB then I'd only be able to fit 500 cds (250GB) before I'd need to buy yet another hard disk. Then find somewhere to plug it into. Then back it up to another hard disk.
Since several people use the other "major" source - allofmp3.com - and it allows you to pick what format you like including lossless, aac, vorb, mp3.
I imagine most people pick mp3 because although it may not be the best... it's by far the most wildly supported. Conversion tools between "better" codecs usually mean worse sound quality than getting it in a format that pretty much every player can handle.
Try turning logging on in Windows for all files when you've got a few million of them. You won't have a storage logging space problem - you'll have a maxed out server problem.
Amazingly the advertisers could just put their phone number in the advert... and then people who care could pick the phone up and dial it.
I know it's a bit 80's but at the end of the day click-to-call just means that they'll end up calling you, so you'll have to get up and answer the phone anyway.
I found it amazing that it's got to 2.0 since being initially announced only a couple of weeks ago. There also isn't a "buy now" section (or even a price) on it's buy page: http://www.parallels.com/en/buyonline (found from the docs)
As for seeing what you're missing - I didn't see anything particularly unique about it. All I could think was... woo. I did notice that there wasn't mention of DirectX support, so it isn't exactly brimming with features.
Lastly - why buy from these guys since I can just buy an established product *that is known to work well* from VMware, or something that may be ok soon from Microsoft. Or wait for Xen and get it for free.

Assumption: this isn't dis-information designed to make us all feel safer about using Skype's encryption

err... that's it.
Looking towards the ultimate site - nothing happening of note: http://windowsultimate.com/Default.aspx
Yawn.

Last time I checked we pay 1% sales tax for selling things in EVE reducable by skills and standing.

Hmmm... 1970s porn track.... might look at the... ahhh... ok... back to WoW then.

500 cd's isn't a lot of music...

Hello. Nice to meet you.
Since several people use the other "major" source - allofmp3.com - and it
allows you to pick what format you like including lossless, aac, vorb, mp3.

mean worse sound quality than getting it in a format that pretty much every
player can handle.
And at 192bps MP3 is pretty darn good.
Sure - just reboot / reinstall Linux / Windows on your Intel PC and you're able to run VMware just fine.
Try turning logging on in Windows for all files when you've got a few million of them. You won't have a storage logging space problem - you'll have a maxed out server problem.
WhAT is WATS? Don't have none of that here.

Why. Make. Life. Complicated?
Yes, why don't you?
If it we're that simple...
Good to know that it's only the USA that has any concerns over use of power, global warming and all that.
God Bless America!

Grr...
Yeah, poor things. How do they sleep at night?
On top of a pile of money, with many beautiful ladies.
Doesn't sound very comfortable to me. Maybe try the other way around...
"On top of a pile of beautiful ladies, with money"
And who cares about money...
Where is the torrent? I don't want to wait!
> Google... may just be a one-hit wonder.
Sigh. And we still wait for the no-hit wonder, Microsoft, to do something innovative...
