I recently (last night, was bored out of my mind) played doom using LegacyDoom in OpenGL mode. Of course, the monsters are still ugly, and since you can move the mouse up and down (which wasn't possible in the original doom), some sprites are missing, but the whole thing just looks pretty damn good !
These people just all get sued and jailed ? I don't understand how can some people get away with theft of privacy and that kind of stuff in a country such as ours. I guess the temporary technological solution would be to create a special email account just for your resume, and ask people to contact you through email for more info... But I bet employers won't like that...
They surely can't be as bad as the Windows ones...
I thought I'd buy an ATI card to support the local economy, but the drivers are always wayyyy too scary...
Anyone got the old All In wonder Radeon (not 7500, original) working fine in 3d and with the tuner btw?
Yes, but with authentication, it would somewhat reduce the problem of open relays...
Altough I guess some people in some far far away countries would run it with a guest/anonymous login...
Therefore my point still stands, technology won't cure spam...
What would is if people never ever bought anything from spam, or got caught in scams.
It's pretty scary. Here in Quebec, our average IQ is so low that 23 people reported getting caught by the Nigerian scam for a total of 9 million $ !
That we need all these technicalities to try and fight spam...
But this is just like people trying to fight piracy, there will always be a new way to get around security.
Actually, what we needed was authenticated SMTP from the beginning...
Could someone point me to a good auto-scheduling application, that would make schedule according to dependencies and rules (mostly the fact that someone can't be at two places at the same time) for lets say, a school ?
I can't believe it hasn't been done yet...
This is indeed where I heard about it. Hmm I think I had seen it on slashdot maybe... But I have the Linux journal with this article right here next to me.
Good article.
As ink and paper is physical, while bandwidth and CPU time is not. I can't say what my stand is about that, because I don't think the fax law should apply...yet I hate spammers !
The GHCA (Greater Houlton Christian Academy) has a nice Linux based lab too. They say they saved a lot of money doing it this way, which seems pretty obvious... Their webpage is here
What if I run an Operating system and a firewall secure enough to keep them out. Will then I be guilty not only of pirating, but also of "protecting myself against legal privacy theft" ?
Fuel cells powered by the same oil used to cool down 802.11 infrastructures?
Gives a new meaning to the word "hot"spot!
..thinking about the RIAA, 802.11b streaming music possibilities, and the fact they're a leader in residential WiFi equipment !
If they used OpenBSD... Bulletproof security... *rimshot*
ThinkGeek has some non-ribbon IDE cables... But I'm thinking it's probably due to interference or crosstalk between the cables..
A few gigs of ram should be enough for any game !
It was an article on how to speed up GNOME Evolution...well...gonna buy some more ram then.
I use LegacyDoom, but I'll probably try jDoom tonight !

..let's hope Slashcode will support it for headline verification !
