In "The Handmaid's Tale" Atwood depicts a world where the religious right takes over. All non fundamentalist Christian relgions are outlawed. Homosexuality is a capital offence as are a whole host of other heresies like being a liberal and speaking against the government. Women are prohibited from all learning including learning to read. Polygamy is the law. Familes are assigned childbearing quotas.
You people elected this White Taliban, you live with it.
Firefox is next version opensource NS7.2 which few of you liked and you laughed at for having only 5 - 10% of the market. But Firefox is new messiah so logically it will conquer the world. I'm waiting for the mothership to take us all to the promised land.
You couldn't find 4 fucking airliners before they plowed into bldgs, George. Who the fuck are you to ratchet up yet more opppression? Fuck you and shit on your grave.
Tell me what you will do in 2-3 years when movie houses start interrupting movies to show commercials, when DVDs you rent are interrupted for commercials you can't zap?
You don't have to do anything - I'm sure you can't shrink your world to any arbitrarily small size, declare victory and go home. At point do you say to yourself you've had enough?
Jesus fucking Christ what the hell is wrong with these shitheads? What next? Is everything these retards do designed to alienate and piss off their own customers? First we can't record what we want when we want to soon we won't be able to zap the commercials on our own machines. It's bad enough that there is steadily less and less actualy content - what, about 18 minutes per half hour once you strip out the commericials the jingle, the credits? It's not bad enough there's a gigantic animated bug in the lower right corner of the screen and crawl across the bottom. Now they want to make sure that I don't watch the beginning and/or the end of any show?
What next? Super premium extra fee channels that compress everything into recordable timeslots?
I want them dead, I want them all dead. I want their women raped their children enslaved their houses fucking burned to the ground.
That dude's up to something I know it. I think OldBot and the toaster are planning to kill me. They think I'm senile but....shhhh shhhh... here comes the Roomba - shut up a sec.
la lalalala le li la la la - yo hey Roomba what's up?
"mmmmmmmmmmmmwhushhhhhhhhhhhhhh"
yeah cool.
So anyway I came home yesterday and I swear I saw toaster and Oldbot talking about something.... I think I better start wearing flipflops in the shower......
In IT about 75% of the lifecycle costs of a unit of 'something' is labor. Automation will pushed harder and harder into these environments until that number comes down. WAY DOWN. WAY WAY DOWN.
In autmotive, only about 8-9% of the total vehicle cost is labor. What IS enormously expensive though is pension costs. Pension costs cost about $1400/unit, more than the cost of steel.
In Defense labor costs are plummeting and pension overhang is enormous. Take a look at the stock performance of Lockheed Martin. In this war economy LMT should be printing money, but it's not because of it's huge pension overhang liability.
You dudes are not unionized and with the stroke of a pen your pensions can be eliminated. So companies have zero incentive to worry about retaining you and every reason to slash headcount by any means necessary. Couple this with the FACT, not the impression that most server infrastructures are used, at best, 30-40% on a rolling average basis and you start to see an enormous rationale for companies to reaggregate all their servers into big mega clusters that look like th mainframes of yore. Today if your support ratio is 40 servers per headcount you can expect that to increase by a factor of 10 as more and more server farms are collapsed into larger and larger servers with a large number of LPARs on each.
And those jobs will be sent overseas to Bangalore, Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea and eventually China bolstered by yet more automation.
I think 50% reduction in operations staff is a conservative estimate. I think it will be more like 90% in two decades.
The point being we really don't use routers anymore. We use switches because they can keep pace with the price performance we need to maintain. Routers work ok but up to a point, then the economics and complexity of managing ever increasing bandwidth, endpoints and whatnot makes routers, even free routers not cost effective.
Remember people YOU are the most expensive element, not the machine. YOU are.
It won't matter what school you go to if you don't have a clear sense of what you want to accomplish once you get there. Good schools are good because they offer quality courses but also a diverse range of studies. And there can be bad courses at good schools too. I can't tell you how many times I've seen college students grumble that they seem to be taking the same courses over and over under different names because the school seemingly doesn't do a good job of telling the students what the course is good for. And these are good schools too.
In the end it comes down to how much utility you will derive out of each of the courses you fill your schedule with. You ARE doing this for a practical benefit like getting a good job that will pay the Vegas gambling bills, mortgage and so on?
Because that's about the only practical use I can think of for a midrange performance PC that costs about $3000.00. Can I get it in platinum with spinner rims, neon tubes and a waterfall?
My old PC300 PL which has a value of 100-200 bucks today can run W2K SP4 perfectly well. It has 288MB RAM a 40GB drive and a P2-450. Stock audio/video and for laughs I've replaced the free onboard NIC with a RealTek NIC that cost $0 after rebate.
My even older PC750 with an AMD K62-400, 112MB RAM and 4GB and a 6GB drive, an AWE64 soundcard from the trash, stock video and another net zero cost NIC do a serviceable job for low end use.

Every PC sans Mac comes off the same half dozen assembly lines. They just vary the plastic wrapper and the name badge.

The magical invisible free hand of commerce will provide the optimal solution to this discontinuity. Libertarians rule, back to work you slags.
Humanity survived for thousands of years w/o pennicillin too. Do we really really want to take our ball and go home?

You need both of those plus CWShredder plus Bugoff plus Regcleaner.
And remember to run Adaware with the 'Deep Scan' option once in a while because it will find things that 'Smart Scan' does not.

Sure it's an interesting exercise to see one's own credit report but then what? When there are mistakes on it can you get them fixed?

Don't need none of that thar stuff

Amazing, this is the 6th time this post has been remodded.
You tools really need to stop taking yourselves so fucking seriously.
Hiring programmers who work in countries where people are still occasionally eaten by tigers.
./ and fark are the only places we see or hear or talk about you anymore.
After a hard day of abusing people in IT and treating them like shit. I go home and whack them for money. Hey it's a living.

That's where I usually find all the things I lose.
