The UK might, in fact there's a pretty good chance they will de-nuclearize because they simply can't afford it nor do they want the political fallout of maintaining it any longer. It's hard to see how this makes anyone safer. It probably doesn't make them less safe either. It's simply a political move for domestic consumption.
