I would consider this a second laptop not a primary one. So for me it's extra. I seriously have to wonder just how portable people will find a 9" screen PC once they have a reason to carry it around. For instance, the HTC Shift's spec sheet says it's 800g with the battery. That's more than 28oz which seems like an awful lot for a device that's supposed to replace your computer and your phone with a device that has the portability of a phone. Now if you're getting a 9 or even 7" laptop instead, AND you're lugging a phone, assuming you're not leaving your PC on all the time and running Skype to a BT headset, that's an awful lot of gear to lug.
With the effective end of the shuttle program already (we're down to what, one launch a year now?) it's clear that the end of manned spaceflight is in view. The Russians will continue for a few years more as they work down their inventory of ex-ICBM boosters to get people into near earth orbit. The Chinese and the Indians will have a few launches for national pride and zero engineering and scientific benefit. But by 2020 the era of manned spaceflight will be over and out. And in case you haven't been watching, unmanned spaceflight for purely research reasons will end around 2040 or so.
AVIRA has the advantage of NEVER needing a free license key renewed but they make you pay for it with an intrusive popup add for AVIRA Pro.
Bit Defender has the smallest RAM footprint of the three but updates are EXCRUCIATING and bog down your machine.
AVAST is the most complete of all of them, has the largest footprint, requires a 14 month free license key and some peculiar incompatibilities with one machine I tried it on, but it's the best of the three in terms of the actual work it does.
AVG is pure bloat at this point, and none of the other "FREE" applications are free - they're DEMOWARE.
There is NO reliable taxonomy for even what a virus is let alone what they can and cannot do to you. More often all AV vendors look for things THEY ARE ABLE TO FIND. And they ignore everything they are not able to find and declare them meaningless. Moreover you really don't even know if what they find when they find it meaningful. When I see a P2P file that 'exhibits traits of xxxxx.xxxxx.' and the tool asks me what to do, I kind of have to accept as an act of blind faith that a) they really found it b) they really found something c) that something is a virus d) it's not a false positive and e) they can actually control it.
Seriously, at this point wouldn't it make more sense to build a moisture-proof wrapper for your PC and just dump it in a bar fridge or small portable freezer? None of these systems are actually active cooling units, they're just more efficient ways to dissipate the heat that builds up. So why not actively COOL the systems down? How hard could it be to build a reasonably reliable freezer that stays at 0Deg F & that's big enough to hold a minitower? Can't possibly cost more than a $1000. Add a moisture-proof wrapper for the PC (a.k.a. heatshrink plastic sheet) and run all the cables and cords though a 1" hole drilled in the side an plugged up with foam and silicone.
It will always be an arms race but a very odd one that pits technology against lawyers. Sometimes the lawyers win the battles but in the long run technology always crushes its opponents.
Seriously, you want ruthless compliance then mutilate people who violate it. And while we're at it let's execute pornographers in the town square. In fact let's make all crimes capital crimes. What about all the GOOD things they do in North Korea?
Ok that's silly we'll still have money, but times will in fact suck and if the government can't process their own tax returns and screw it up there will in fact be riots. Well I guess it was good enough for government work and the Federal Contractors who got rich from it will have set up shop in Dubai with about a trillion of your dollars anyway, So yeah - screw those serfs screw them good.
The list of assholes I need to go power tools on is so fucking long it's exhausting.

Seems like not so much a bargain. But that's just me.
Sprint will continue to do what it does slow, weird, late and expensive.
Someone moderated my taste. Awesome....in a retarded way.
Might as well go to the source.

Who will buy these? Rappers? I want and CAN GET a 17" laptop for that price. You still can't shove a 12" laptop in your pocket.

Flamebait? You fucking posers. I bet all you faux Marxist assholes think privation is a day w/o your Xbox360. So fuck off.

Thanks for making my case for me you oh so articulate radical, you. Ooh pinch me, is it the Age of Aquarius yet?
Wait for it, it's coming.

Mold might actually kill YOU, not your electronics. You should be very careful.

Were the spawn of the devil. Oh they worked ok, but they were so damned slow I honestly did not care if they worked or not.

To get around on his Belgium sized ranches.
It sounds like some suits from the RIAA worked over the weekend to study the nuances of the RoR and narc'd the company to its own host.
Unless you'd like a room at the Hotel Gitmo.
Mod me a troll? Do you light your cigars with $20 bills or are you just inherently opposed to reasonable behavior?
Yours is the worst MS sponsored trolling I've heard this month.
And the swarthy outraged mobs can arson to their retarded little heart's desire.
