coupled with myriad ridiculous justifications and semantic acrobatics about how it's not really "stealing".
As opposed to the semantic acrobatics about how it really is stealing?
FFS, can we just kill this stupid meme and call copyright infringement copyright infringement?!?!! Or do you really want to spend yet another thread arguing this stupid point?
Just because a particular church does not have a denominational affiliation does not have any impact on if it's teachings are considered fundamentalist or not.
It is the fact that the church _allows_ other denominations that suggests it is not fundamentalist. Fundamentalism by common definition means believing the bible is 100% literal truth and as such precludes different/looser interpretations. Of course, the congregation could be all fundamentalist denominations and no non-fund. denominations in which case it could be (which is why I added "in general")
I am a member of a "fundamentalist religion", I grew up Methodist, and have been part of a non-denominational congregation since I was 15. That said, I don't completely agree with everything the fundamentalists believe,
Then you are not a fundamentalist. Nor would I consider a "non-denominational congregation" a fundamentalist church in general.
Is mentioning porn = good and fundamentalist religion = bad the way to get modded up here now? Odd..
As for the GP the answer is yes because it is true.
Since software patents are relatively new, and the only prior art search done is against the awarded patents database there can be no prior art on new(er) software ideas like XML. By getting this patent they can feel secure developing XML editors and whatnot.
Well, the article is down so I am not sure what it actually looks like. But it seems to me there is absolutely no reason to make this device look like a dangerous weapon.
Are any reasons given for why they decided to go with this flamebait (for lack of a better term) design? They could have made it look like a telescope instead I imagine.
Of course this is coming from somebody who used to think it was fun to sneak around and shoot frat jocks with bb guns back in highschool.
It really is a striking look-alike, but the original is just a rectangular thumb drive in the first place. Since there is no Apple logo on it I wonder how far they will get with trademark issues.
To me it seems ethically iffy but possibly letter-of-the-law ok (if they have good, expensive, lawyers).
If you're in the "OSS will rule the world" crowd, you need to understand that in order to succeed
I have this feeling that the "OSS will rule the world" crowd are not the ones actually developing the software. In fact, I am not sure where they came from...
So your example of bias is a reporter stating a fact (no answered calls) and another reporter pointing out that it was likely on the advice of their laywer?
Have you ever used windows in a business environment? What kind of crack do you have to smoke to see windows applications, hell, even windows components as having a consistent interface.
Open 5 Windows programs at random. Hit Alt-F in each one. Tell me what happens.
This is just an example but will still probably work unless you choose Winamp or something on purpose.

I would say that by the definition of "news" and "trade secret" that it is news. Ethical, reasonable, whatever probably not, but it is news nonetheless.
I think he's kidding. Congress tends to have a habit of passing laws when it comes to the internet. X is illegal, but congress still passes a law defining X online as illegal;)
You forgot the part where they make the punishment twice as bad in the process...
It is called ASCAP, look it up. They handle all of the royalties involed in radio broadcast (in teh ststes). If your music is on pretty much any label in the states (even the indies) you are already a member. I guess it would be possible to get yourself removed from the list but you would do so through the organization (in this case the Russian version of ASCAP) instead of with the broadcaster.
The way things are going, cities won't be able to provide this for their citizens. No one needs a network this big for personal usage; if municipal wi-fi is banned, it will be for naught.
If you could get enough people to stick these things in their upstairs windows you might not even need the city to provide municipal access. It would be a lot harder to pass a law to ban something like that too.
So if I all the sudden start selling software to others for pennies then tell people that if they just register with me I will give them a small cut it is their fault they are not getting paid?
Replace selling software with playing music and you have just described how radio works.

Why would the editors read the articles when most of the users don't even bother?

I wonder if air could be considered for common carrier status...
