    err...that is factually incorrect. The new beta is 17 megs vs. firefox 1.0 at 5 megs.

    When were tabs added to Opera I wonder. I was using tabs as far back as '96 with some browser I found on Tucows. (tab browser or something like that)

    Opera may or may not be a great browser depending on what you want out of it, but the whole "invented tabs" thing seems like a bit bold of a statement.

    while I agree that complaining about Operas licensing scheme is stupid, the economics of the situation also mean that it is hard to justify $40 (or ads) for something that is availible elsewhere for free.

    If these people really loved animals, they wouldn't be sterilizing the poor things. Most pet-owners are not animal-lovers, they're just selfish bastards who want to have companions that they can control.

    oh yah, because it is truly love to let you pet breed out of control. Way too many of those animals end up on death row, please learn a little bit of responsibility if you ever wish to care for an animal.

    It's only logical; the more people "pirate", the tighter the industries are going to try to clamp down. All at the expense of legitimate users who just want to watch/listen to what they paid for.

    which will alienate more customers and cause more piracy which will mean less money, more DRM. Hopefully these people will go bankrupt from this stupid stupid cycle.

    I violate all laws I disagree with with impunity. As a moral human I feel it is my duty to follow my own conscience before some arbitrary rule.

    As for the specifics of copyright law, that is a tricky one, but I will make my own decision.

    It may not seem plausible but unless he is stupid it is trivially verifiable. Hence why people don't believe in ESP, you don't have to understand it to know it doesn't work.

    Please remind why America is not at war with China? My knowledge on this subject is limited, but my checklist (based on the precedent set by the "justifications" for the war on Iraq) suggests that they should be:

    The same reasons as always money and power.

    Money: They are a good place to make it right now.

    Power: We would likely get our asses handed to us. If nothing else they could pull a wicked scorched earth technique.

    The sooner you realize that none of the options you listed are the reasons wars are started the better.

    Is it? The content provider is providing free content with a catch: you will view some ads. By removing the ads, you aren't holding up your end of this implicit contract. Don't like ads? Don't view the content.

    It is the advertisers right to send the ads from their site. It is my right to decide what gets displayed on the monitor I paid for.

    ...and I even run an ad based site....

    mods should actually check the link instead of just modding up because they happen to agree, informative? That article says absolutely nothing about global warming.

    In their study of "Global Warming" they found little or no data to support this claimed occurance and have reported so.

    uhhh...ok dude, everybody agrees that the planet is warming up. There is empirical data from the last hundred years to back this up. The ONLY thing up for debate is the cause!

    meh, there is a finite number of bits that you can fit through your pipe. If you increase upstream you will need to decrease downstream. And then the proles you are trying to protect will start calling up Comcast to complain that their internet takes a long time to load pages.

    There should be due process in letting out secrets of parties that have not been criminally convicted.

    This is an example of that due process in action. The judge is being petitioned to unseal the documents and will decide whether or not to do so.

    Here in King County, WA the damn scantrons machines are even made by Diebold! There is even some evidence of tampering from the primaries where 3 hours of the log is missing!
