R2D2 simply refuses to speak anything other than astromech droid because he's elitist/racist/facist. Same goes for all the astromech droids. Every time they tried to fix the 'bug' they'd get a droid that sabatoges shit instead of fix it so they gave up. Now go rewatch the original trilogy enlightened. If we could understand them it would probably be a never-ending stream of rants on how george lucas fucks up every computer related scene in his movies.
Our orbit isn't perfect. So maybe the counter earth would be visible in the sky just beside the sun. But would go behind it and reappear out the other side each time one of the planets passed perihelion. Is our orbit eccentric enough for this?
I meant to say bytes from different sources costing different. Bytes from different times of the day costing different only concerns me if it leads back to the first one.
Any ideas on why they need such a secret and stealthy UAV in Afghanistan for?
These are overkill for Afganistan but they need field testing anyway? The taliban got better at dealing with the current drones? More drones are needed to support the extra troops and the current models are end-of-life?
Perhaps the model of charging X amount for X speed is flawed then.
...
In Canada/USA/Europe and other locations the current model is broken.
You are misinformed, Rogers already uses a "data and speed billing model". E.g. Their regular plan has a 60GB monthly cap with overage charges. (I'm a customer). So now, with the cap system in place, they need to back the f*** off the traffic shaping agenda.
Seconding Web Server. It wasn't until I was finished with PC gaming that I tried Ubuntu as a desktop. Before that it was just easier to pirate windows.
I thought nuclear subs could wander under the ice cap. Would it be too hard to measure the ice from one? Or is renting a nuke sub just way out of price range?
Thanks so much for the tip. All converted now. I also took the advice of another comment here and created an account so I could turn off openDNS's search page. And I must say I'm astounded at the changes Rogers is making lately. And I don't think they're done.
I still think any standard will fail because game publishers will always lie about the requirements so as not to scare off buyers with slower machines.
So the box will look like:
Minimum System Requirements: 2008+ Class B
Recommended System Requirements: 2010+ Class B
But a sensible machine will be rated something like 2011+ Class A
Thanks to you and Wiz for spotting my mistake, I'll be canceling my LD post haste.
And I see/remember how it got like this. I signed up for the LD on condition that bell would waive the monthly $2.95 fee. They accomplished this by charging the fee then crediting the same amount. Then Aug 1, 2007 they doubled the fee. (profit)
Here's hoping us Canadians can continue this 'take charge' thing
I got my land-line phone bill today.
This is the cheapest plan advertised: Starting at under $20
Here is the bill for one of these plans:
Residence line 18.48
Network Charge 5.95
CITY CALLING AREA EXPANSION 0.50
911 emergency service access 0.19
Touch-Tone service 2.80
Long Distance Credit* -2.95
First Rate TM Worldwide 0.00
Total 24.97
I don't see any fees there that you can opt out of, but they still advertise a sub-$20 plan. The Network Charge is almost EXACTLY the same as the one that earned this class-action suit. *Don't ask me how I got this credit on my bill, I don't know. And don't tell them I have it either. Also there are no other items on my bill (long distance or otherwise) except sales taxes.
but they're asking for a $10 refund from a charity? Nice.
You're accusing the credit card companies of being cheap but they[visa, mastercard] havedonated to the Red Cross in the past. During the tsunami disaster there was a $1 million donation as well they waived transaction fees for donations. It was a similar story for Katrina.
I won't go so far as to say these corps have morals, these donations were high profile and probably cost less than a short ad campaign. But those donations do dwarf their refund of $10*700.

BitCoins! I have no idea what they have to do with the current discussion, just throwing it out there.
Spend much time at urban dictionary?

How about video of people being murdered in Lybia, you sicko? In all seriousness, I know it's newsworthy but nobody wants to watch stuff like this. I didn't hit play on any of these but if the captions are at all accurate: EXTREMELY NSFW

Will some bytes cost more than other bytes? That would be an easy next step, so I consider this a step away from net-neutrality.
Sounds like the perfect vector to introduce my mom to PCs
This exploit reveals your passwords to a website that you visit (although I have not RTFA), which is a bit different.
The slashvertized tool does not send passwords to a website. It reveals passwords to you when you run the tool locally. This is not news.
At the risk of putting this company out of business here's a 'cracker' for passwords stored by most browsers.

Somebody else here mentioned you can turn off the search redirect if you get an account. worked for me.

They've already made ink pack gadgets to protect clothes.
There are similar protective containers for dvds.
The cashier takes them off with another gadget of some sort (magnets?).
So solutions are near at hand with little/no creativity required.
That being said this is what *I'd* like to see:
A new package which is easy to open but makes a loud bang. Ever pulled a christmas cracker?
If the bang is hard to avoid thieves should be deterred.
As a bonus christmas mornings should get much more fun.
How tall would the masts have to be? Would the ship fit under the the golden gate bridge?
