Oh lordy please no... Vista GUI is awful. There's highlights and alpha masked layers to add extra glossiness everywhere. That couple with an unnecessary number of transparent objects and the whole thing is just tiring to look at. It's like the GUI is constantly screaming "LOOK AT ME, WON'T. YOU. JUST. STOP. AND. LOOK. AT. ME!" And if they ever achieve the shoddiness of 'XP Level' performance we can all rest easy knowing that Linux has 'won'. XP's the slowest OS I run (after Vista) and it's on the second fastest machine I own.
I agree totally - I have a Peugeot with 1.9litre Turbo Diesel engine which is a hell of a lot faster than my last petrol car (thanks in no small part to the fantastic turbo which kicks in at fairly low rpm to give a more even power band), but puts out anything from 50mpg upwards depending on how I drive it - and this is a 12 year old card with over 100k miles on the clock!!!
Audi put out a car half a decade ago that claimed 80mpg combined cycle.
The missus had a Toyota Corolla for a while that would easily do 70mpg at motorway cruising speeds (70mph) and around 50-60mpg at 30mph. She now has a Honda that has similar figures.
If people still have any doubts about the power of a diesel compared to a petrol engine they only need to look at the results for Le Mans 24 Hour this year (and the whole of the GT season) - dominated by diesels, with the top 6 positions taken by Audi and Peugeot.
...but make sure you don't vote either Republocrat or Demican. A vote for either of them is a wasted vote. Vote independent and you're voting for what you REALLY believe in!
This is very true - it's the myth that there's ANY difference between the Republocrats and the Demicans. They're all the same shit, just with different scents.
None of them represent the people, or even the country. The only people they represent are their rich friends and backers (and thus the corporatocracy as s whole).
Down with corporatism! Vote independent.
I think the greatest music/game experience I've had in terms of their interactivity has to be Rez on the PS2.
The FX are part of the music and the music reacts to your timing when your fire/move. The more accurate and on-beat your timing (including proper latino kind of push rhythms for more complexity) the more intense the music gets. It's fantastic - the more you get into it, the more you get back out of it... properly buzzin:)
For mood, I still think the music/camera angles of the original Silent Hill had to be some of the spookiest ever. That first intro part before your inevitable attack/passing out is scary as f**k the first time you play it with the music/audio building and building like a horror film. I think that had to be a landmark game.
For general madness, Llamatron was fantastic - just a complete cerebral assault!
And for the ultimate techno-racing soundtrack Wipeout rocked.
Exactly what I was thinking... I'm sure I saw this on TV a couple of years ago. You can dive underwater which allows you to do the 'dolphin jump' tricks, but can't stay submerged for long, because the cockpit only has a limited air supply. You can also barrel-roll this baby, which looks cool.
I feel the opposite. The Wii is quirky to play, but the majority of games just aren't there for me and the control feels poorly implemented (overly sensitive at some times, then not the least bit responsive at other times).
Most games I play are drivers, so the PS is king (still sticking with a PS2 though until they finally release the new Turismo, then it's hand-in-my-pocket for a PS3). I've played a few drivers on the 360 which is definitely better for the genre than a Wii, but it's still let down a bit by the pad design. Sure, it's better than a horizontally-held Wiimote, but doesn't come close to touching a PS pad for perfect positioning of every button (unless you have absolutely gigantic hands).
The wife feels the opposite to me though. She absolutely detests computer gaming in any form - unless it's in the form of the Wii - and then she adores it! I think it's the fact you're having to actually DO something or at least that's how she sees it - not realising the skill and effort needed to concentrate on a 24 Hour Le Mans race non-stop (apart from usual pit-stops) in real time on GT4, or an endurance race around the Nurgburgring!
The Licence fee covers all BBC services available to the UK (which doesn't include BBC America as far as I'm aware, and only recently included BBC World Service), and as part of the deal the BBC aren't allowed to sell advertising space on any BBC branded channels.
It's great for films as you can sit down and watch uninterrupted, but as some have pointed out, you have no choice in paying this 'tax' if you own any equipment capable of receiving BBC channels whether you watch them or not, which is totally unfair.
What's even more annoying is that old BBC shows are aired on the UKTV range of 're-run' channels inc Dave (formerly UKTV Gold) UKTV Food, UKTV History, UKTVG2, UKTV Style etc etc etc, but these channels have quite a LOT of advertising. In keeping with the BBC charter the channels have their own distinct branding which is completely separate to the BBC's, but I still find it annoying that these channels are broadcasting programmes the British public have already paid for as an outlet to sell advertising for additional revenue. I don't know the state of the accounts for these channels, but if they return a profit then surely that money should be issued back to the license-fee payer as a rebate on the following year's programme-making.
Thank goodness they thought to include a calibrator. Perhaps it'll actually be a Windows machine you CAN use for graphics, by correcting that god-awful and far-too-dark Windows gamma!
But let me get this straight. People moan about the price of Macs - but nobody's balking at the idea of spending 3 grand on one of these cheap-assed bits of kit? The only reason you'd want one is for the quad core. Consider this though - the MacBook Pro range is due for imminent updates and the rumours are that they're going to go quad core to reposition the machines where they're supposed to sit in the range, ie: above the iMac, but below the Mac Pro. We'll probably also see a price drop at the same time (there usually is), so my prediction is to expect to pay around this figure or less for a quad core Mac laptop soon.
How can 'jihadist material' be violent? Surely the 'material' is inanimate print or data, incapable of expressing actions or emotions?
Oh... I see, you mean it showed images of violence? So, pretty much like a lot of TV, films and video games then - quick, somebody set Jack Thompson on Al Qaeda's case heh:D
That's true. Organisational skills are beyond this lot, apart from organising death, death and more death.
Thuggish authoritarianism eh? Hmmm, sounds a bit mafioso to me. Hey, don't forget the nation is run by 'the family' (or a couple of prominent 'families'), so I guess organised crime fits the bill more appropriately.:D
I've patented a method by which 'justice' can be served in a 'court' and for good measure, also the phrase "I'll see you in court" (and all derivatives of...
You will indeed be seeing me in court mwuhaha:D
No, as I mentioned earlier, technically 'sans-serif' is a font STYLE (as you correctly point out - without the 'serifs' on the end of characters, but 'Sans Serif' is a type FAMILY (not just a font - there's a big difference).
Although in the case of displaying a font in a browser, everything else you say is spot on (where it checks specific fonts, then degrades to any available sans system font)....carry on, nothing to see here...

I think you'll find I'm a shade of beige on the inside - a similar kind of creamy-beige you'd find on a Vic20! heh
I'm not racist, stuck-up OR white. Oh wait, yeah I'm white - but my Mac aint ;)
Yeah - Amigas! heh ;D

You're right... but that's just amongst Republicans! hehe ;p

Check out this vid if you never played it

Pucker up then!
You mean an ombudsman. Easier to say and encompasses it all in one silly sounding word - lovely :)

Nope, it's certainly not art.
Art has no purpose, but this app DOES have purpose.
It's purpose is to say 'I am rich'.
Oh, that's OK then, coz I didn't post in this topiiiii...... DOH!

I think the phrase you were looking for was 'FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS', although what you'd be doing holding your own brain is as yet undisclosed ;)

Sod 'IP' - I thought HTML was an open scripting language? So how do you steal anything written in it?
