"Velvet Revolver's new album, 'Contraband', which is protected with SunnComm's anti-copying technology, has topped the U.S. album charts. The SunnComm and BMG execs quoted in the article say that they're pleased with the apparent consumer acceptance of the anti-piracy technology, but they have been hearing questions about how people can get the copy-blocked songs from the CD onto an iPod."
If you have auto-run disabled, the DRM doesn't work though.
I think Linux is great for government. As long as you standardize on something, that's all that counts, whether it's made by professionals at Microsoft or 16-year olds with a SourceForge page.
2) RE: Ellison vs. AOL
Harlan Ellison hasn't written anything significant since Babylon 5, and that was over 10 years ago in 1994. I wish this feud would just stop because it's a waste of Ellison's time, AOL's time, and our time having to read the news about it. Everyone would truly save money if they just bowed out of the fight right now and cut their losses.
3) RE: Hotmail's response to Gmail
Fine, makes sense. Yahoo also has pledged to provide at least 100MB per use. But the big news is that our friends (job stealers? (-;) in India have announced that the Indian site Rediff has announced the launch of Rediffmail 1 GB (gigabyte), giving virtually unlimited storage space of 1 gigabyte to all its free email users in India and worldwide.
I also get an "Alert: Document contains no error" window in this new release when I view Slashdot (seems to happen whenever the iFrame advertisement fails to load).
How do we fix this bug? It's INCREDIBLY annoying and IE renders the page fine.
I live in downtown Austin and have for nearly a month now. 802.11b and 802.11g get a lot of press these days, but don't forget about Bluetooth.
Bluetooth is just as powerful, as it allows true meshing of the virtual world with the real world around you, connecting you seemlessly with people up to 10+ metres away.
That not convince you? I hear some people even use Bluetooth to fuck strangers!
I use Bluetooth in Austin on the bus and have so far made two guy friends and one girl friend. In fact, she just called me up and we're gonna go grab a bit to eat tonight and then check out the new Lord of the Rings movie.
It's clear here that DVD is definitely the way to go if you want good storage size backed up quickly.
CD-Rs are still best for compatibility's sake (every CPU has a CD drive these days, but not all have DVD drives/software) though, and also for car stereo players.
When will people realize that viruses are just computer programs that trick you?
Might I suggest LINUX by the way to those of you who just insist on running Windows 95 with NO anti-virus software. Yes, YOU, the 40 year old women who come to my software/computer help shop every day with your 486s wanting to run Windows XP.
We need to EDUCATE users, not make fancy silly things on CPUs. After all, viruses are just programs, and as programs, based on the laws of software, they can do ANYTHING they want and circumvent anything (hear that, RIAA?).
I can safely tell you to expect a huge advancement from the research labs (UCLA specifically) by the beginning of next year, January 2005. Expect MUCH more power per volume compared to our current lithium ion batteries, and my friends at the lab have reduced production costs by nearly 66%.
Expect an formal announcement of the January date sometime early this summer (I was told June or July).
My Dad has a TV that my sister and I used to use for relaxing in between homework assignments. One night, I was writing a paper while watching it, when all of a sudden it went berserk, the screen started flashing, and the whole show just turned into this weird ad with some funky lookin computer for black people or something. G5. I mean, like, whoa. Maybe it was all lies, but it was a good paper! I had to cram and read thru the Sunday ads to buy a new TV cause the picture tube in the one we were watching broke. I think it was, like, the 64 bits or something of G5. Or maybe some rapper from D12 shot at the G5 while it was on screen and murdered my television? Needless to say, my rushed paper wasn't nearly as good, and I blame that TV for the grade I got.
I'm happy to report that my sister and I now share a Sony Trinitron. It's a lot nicer to watch the G5 ad on than my dad's TV was, it hasn't let me down once, and my grades have all been really good.
It's sized for a geriatric blind woman with a colostomy bag.
What the fuck happened?
Yes, it was covered on Slashdot:
"Velvet Revolver's new album, 'Contraband', which is protected with SunnComm's anti-copying technology, has topped the U.S. album charts. Our world is so scary these days.
Let's fix Iraq and then regroup and rethink things.
I love life and want us all to be happy.
No wonder Mozirra's #1!?
There is a REASON I dropped Netscape completely a couple years ago.
With Netscape, each version was much larger, a hell of a lot slower, and it crashed more often.
Mozilla actually GETS BETTER as it evolves.
It's like some dumb bird vs. the roadrunner.
Thank you Open Source: this wouldn't have happened with you, and the dedicated OSS community (Slashdot, ThinkGeek, SourceForge, Kuro5hin, Fark, etc.)
Here are my thoughts on the issues. ROR FP.

If we already fingerprint criminals, what's the big deal if we take a "biological footprint", if you will, of them?
DVD: 4.7 GB / 6 minutes = 0.78 GB / minute burnt to disc
CD-R: 650 MB / 6 minutes = 108.33 MB / minute = 0.11 GB / minute burnt to disc
It's clear here that DVD is definitely the way to go if you want good storage size backed up quickly.

Kuro5hin SUCKS.
It's barely functioning anymore. I gave it 4-6 months, TOPS.
We may have LOST the browser battle, but we have WON the operating system war!

Here are some awards we've won:
Best Free Multiplayer Strategy Game - 2003 - HappyPenguin.org
Favorite Linux Game - 2002 - Linux Journal
First post by a real office clerk, and a fan of Clerks to boot!
(And yes, I'm a coder as well for FreeCiv on SourceForge!)
It would be more funny if she actually looked like a woman.
;-)
Instead, I'm stuck here trying to figure out who's cuter, her or the boyfriend (narrator dude, I assume)!

There's gotta be SOME kind of law this violates.
Whenever someone does something cool with music or technology these days, it seems they get SUED by some American company!
C'mon. DMCA maybe? RIAA violation? It's gotta be somethin!
In combination with this earlier pizza story from tonight, this should make for an interesting evening!
Priorities, people. PRIORITIES.
But then again, I'm into that kinda thing ;-)
This is why I love America: Volunteerism, the true spirit of giving and love, much like Linux.
We ALL are great volunteers for being Open Source advocates and coders. I LOVE helping people.
We are GOOD people, and this is a GREAT cause. Thank you all.
I'm glad someone prominent like L Torvalds is voicing pro-support of this.
It's vividely overlooked by pros!
I wish he had touched a bit on how Linux and Open Source in general are going to be used with relation to national ID cards and e-voting machines.
Surely it's not going to be an all-proprietary system(s)?

Thanks, Apple.

She said she's proud of people who stayed behind and live in areas with unsafe levels of radiation.
I personally DO NOT think that is admirable. I personally think it's STUPID that these people are taking themselves out of the gene pool.
I'm surprised there's no cleanup of the areas, really, or attemps at revitalizing a bit for economic and narcissistic reasons.
The Soviets should be ashamed of themselves for what happened and the lost false dreams and lives that their repressive regime caused.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!
