How can they charge extra for a purchase version because it includes free software?
1. There is nothing wrong with selling Free Software, even stuff you didn't create. RTFGPL, as it explicitly states as much.
2. The download version is intended to be a very lightweight "Wow, look at me!" version, not a full distro. The purchase version is a full desktop, on CD, that comes with support. You know, that stuff that OSS people insist companies can make money off of instead of software?
3. Free != free. Get this through your thick little skull. Stallman's Free does not mean 'no cost' (which is another reason he should be punched in the throat, but it's hard to be sure if he has a throat behind that beard... OFFTOPIC).
Robocop 2 was extensively rewritten from his original script. "Mr. Spy Kids" is also, in case you've forgotten, "Mr. El Mariachi", "Mr. Desperado", and "Mr. Once Upon a Time in Mexico".
You're not hitting the water at 100+ MPH, dipshit. http://www.physicsforums.com/archive/topic/t-2576_ Hitting_Water_at_Terminal_Velocity.html
At 30 feet you're probably not even doing a fifth of that, PLUS you're putting yourself into a position where the surface tension of the water is broken by your hands. That's why divers put their hands above (below? whatever) their heads when diving. It isn't to look pretty, it's to break the surface tension.
Here's an experiment. Do a swan dive from 30 feet. Then do a belly flop. If you're still able to move after the belly flop I'll be around to laugh at your dumb ass.

Glass breaks easily, but not so easily that it won't slow you down going through it. Knock off sufficient speed and you'll hit the ground with a mighty THUMP, but you won't quite go SPLAT. Same with snow.
Water, on the other hand, has a large amount of surface tension. You know that slimy goop that you made in school using cornstarch and water? You barely touch it and it's gooey, you whack it with a hammer and it breaks like a solid. Same principle. You hit the water at 60 MPH you might as well be hitting pavement.
That would be a lovely idea, except for this thing called SURFACE TENSION which makes landing in water about as forgiving as landing on concrete. If he really wanted to be safe he'd fill in a lake with Crisco or something similar, but where's the fun in that>
I think it's safe to say that any developer that doesn't expect bugs in his software is an delusion, self-important, arrogant, total fucking dumbass. There will ALWAYS be a way to exploit every piece of software. The faster you learn this, the safer your software becomes.
I'll take this time to point out that I said Wings has a much better interface FOR MODELLING, and that I wished they would implement more tools (animation, real texturing, better rendering).
3ds max's UI is one of the best among the pro-level 3d apps. People that complain it takes too long to get anything done have most likely not set up their quad menus right (with the tools they use most on their own menu), and not learned their hotkeys. It's similar to Lightwave in that respect. Without complete knowledge of the hotkeys you're pretty much screwed on productivity. Maya and Softimage don't seem to have that problem as much, for whatever reason.
But don't ask me WTF is going on with Houdini's interface. I still haven't figured that one out.
So you're using a 5 MAJOR revision old example running on obsolete hardware to prove a point about software programmed almost TEN FUCKING YEARS LATER. You're right, nobody complains about Photoshop on UNIX having a similar UI... because NOBODY USES IT. Those that do are using it because of either the inherent geek factor of using old software on old systems, or they're hardcore SGI weirdos that can't deal with the face that Indy's are dead.
I've found that the overwhelming majority of people that actually like the Blender interface haven't used another 3d app in their entire life, or started out using Blender years ago and can't get used to other 3d apps. You can draw a parallel between Blender and BASIC. You start out using it, you're broken for life.
It's not even a question of cost. Wings 3D has a MUCH better interface for modeling than Blender. I wish they'd work on integrating more than modeling, but that would probably slow it down to unbelieveable levels of sluggishness.
Except for the whole part about them regulating frequencies so that the radio stations in bumblefuck nowhere aren't overrun by larger stations broadcasting on the same frequencies. Your stupid bullshit about the government "taking back all the frequencies" (umm... I thought the FCC was a part of the government, but whatever) smacks of 12th grade idiot socialist dogma. Seriously dude, shut the fuck up.
The key phrase has been highlighted. Your post is totally useless to this thread, but you don't seem to care about that.

If you can't afford $650 for tools, then chances are you didn't need them in the first place. My dad's a mechanic. The tools he uses probably cost $20-25,000 total. I'm a musician. My guitars and amps cost around the same. Dropping $650 on a quality tool is NOTHING if you actually make a living with it. If you don't make a living with it, chances are you'll find the GIMP satisfacory to your needs. It's that simple.

Dude, if you can't afford the basic tools used in your hobby/craft/job then you really should look for a new hobby/craft/line of work, because you obviously suck at what you're doing.
Though in principle I don't see why a video game retailer should sell to minors if the game is marked Mature.
Many of them don't. AFAIK it's only on a store-to-store basis right now, but the Gamestop where my friend works won't sell M rated games to anyone under 17.
Except that the prototypical tree-hugging smelly hippy is a pansy-ass wussbag. It's called a broad generalization. You have to learn to deal with such things once you leave your parent's basement.
So you pine for the days of the original six? The Oakland Seals and LA Kings were part of the first major expansion in '68, alongside the St. Louis Blues. I really hate whiny hockey bitches that don't know their shit.
Going by what IGN said, they spent 2 hours playing games likely to drain the battery quickly and spent 2:45 doing things that aren't likely to drain the battery quickly.
So you're bitching that they tested it under real-world conditions. That makes sense... umm....
