I don't know if you've noticed this on your own, but Linux developers are assholes across the board. It's a community made up of societal rejects that huddle together stroking each other's coding wangs telling each other how great they are. It's a community made up of people that can't even agree on something as simple as HOW TO COPY AND PASTING A PIECE OF FUCKING TEXT. It's a community that claims they're all about choice when what everyone ACTUALLY wants is everything done THEIR way.

In short, it's a bunch of jerkoff assholes that will never stop bickering because they're all childish tits.

In case you haven't figured this out yet, ESR doesn't give a fuck about a 'unified movement'. He's just another impish douchebag that wants things his way or no way at all.

No one thinks the term "Free Software" is a good one, the issue has always been that there's nothing better. I can't use Open Source since the term doesn't mean the same thing.
I've never understood why the fuck everyone doesn't just use the term "Software Libre" instead of "Free Software". You might have to explain what libre means, but it's WAY THE FUCK easier to explain than "Well, I mean free as in speech. Not like beer. No, see, you can use the code any way you want... yeah, you might have to pay for it... but that's not the free I mean..."

Much lesser foreign words have found their way into common English usage, why not this one?

Could you tell me where MS is losing money to 'pirates?' If I take one of their CDs, copy it, and give it to a friend who has no means of buying a copy, I've not cost MS anything, but I have extended their lock in. Nobody has lost anything, at least in a financial sense. The only ones to directly make $$$ at all out of this is the CD manufacturing company.
I was at a LAN part recently with some really hardcore nerds. $300 video cards, $200 cases, gigs of ram, more hard drive space than God... and not a single legitimate copy of Windows to be found. Every one of those dudes could afford Windows nine times over, but none of them bought it.

And please, get off this 'lock in' bullshit. You aren't even locked into a fucking thing you can hit the DELETE key and get rid of.
