I am conflicted! I like Bing's policy on retention of searches, and dislike their China policy. I admire Google's new policy on China, but dislike their privacy policies in the US.
Because that's how you get said netbook for such a cheap price. Same thing as getting a smartphone for $50. I was trying to make the point that you really can't buy a $49 netbook, yet.
That would be a subsidized price. You'd have to tack on a $60 a month data plan for at least 2 years in addition. A netbook with those specs is generally around $300.
Same deal here. I was supposed to change to a Blackberry, like everyone else. Fortunately Verizon coverage sucks where I live so I was able to keep the Motorola flip phone. Longer battery life, and all I get are texts from my systems. No email BS.
Pretty much the same with me. Everyone in my department has company issued Blackberrys. I have a company issued US Cellular flip phone due to crappy Verizon coverage where I live. I like the fact that the only "tether" I have is a simple phone. Holds a charge for a week, inbound texts only, and I don't have to baby it. It's bad enough with that. I'd hate for people to get the expectation I am available all the time. I only check mail at my desk at work. If I get a call about an issue at work, and I am at home, I'll vpn in and fix it. Also, I'll be damned if I use the phone in the car. I don't own a cell phone, because they allow personal use of it as long as it is not abused. It's probably used 95% for work anyway.
Right now, a director can focus my attention on something with focus, but in 3D that doesn't quite work. Either the whole scene is blurry except what they want me to look at (which can be confusing when your eyes can't pull something you look at into focus), or everything is in focus, so I can get easily distracted looking at neat thing X in the background, and not the plot point I am supposed to be focusing on.
That's what bugged me about Avatar. (aside from the inane plot and characters) I found the 3 worked best when it was used to add dust, mist or something amorphous like that to a scene.
Plus 1 on the Zenni Optical plug. I bought my self 2 pairs of close up glasses (computer use and reading) Cost me $45 shipped for 2 pairs. Very pleased with the quality. Better than the ones I got from the optometrist and paid $200 for 1 pair. Took about a month for the gallses to show up all the way from Hong Kong.
I wonder if anyone who got an i7 will try to make a fake fake to get another i7. Some one in Newegg's shipping will have to check the fakes to make sure they are real fakes. My head just exploded.
I really don't trust Google with privacy. I really wouldn't trust their browser for that. That being said, I like Chrome for the way it can applicationize a website. The only thing I use Chrome for is to run slacker radio as an app in linux.
Same here. Paid $250 for a refurb system that came with a dual tuner card and remote, and vista media center. Spent another $60 for a dedicated 320 GB drive for media center. No rental, no fees, and it's trivial to control with the xbox or copy shows to my mp3 player. That worked for me, but the real reason as I see it, is that they charge a large fee for tv listings.
What happens with someone like me that sweats like a pig? The camera I threw in my cycling jersey was dripping wet after a ride on a hot day. You'd think they would make them be resistant to that kind of common abuse.
That irritated the hell out me too! Especially since flash is a pain in the ass to update. You may install a new one, but old cruft is left behind that can be difficult to remove sometimes. Other than the flash issue, Secunia PSI is excellent.
That's the main reason I am not on facebook. No way to guarantee privacy. The way I understand it, even if you have no apps on your page, the apps would have access via proxy of their relationship with people who are your "friends" who do have apps, . I may be wrong, but the benefit to me doesn't outweigh the negatives of spewing my information all over the place if I am right, and I really don't want to invest any time or effort in it if I can't really delete it.
That is not unlike what I remember as a kid at a local department store. They didn't have cash registers, they had a table/desk with a tube endpoint on it. The clerk would take your check/money and a hand written bill and put it in the tube pod. It would shoot up to the 5 floor where the ladies handled the cash. After a short wait, a tube pod would come down with your receipt and any change you were due. It fascinated me and was always a treat to go there. It was also a treat because they had an elevator with dual doors and a guy that ran it.
Definitely no sympathy from me. When Bernie Ebbers drove Worldcom into the ground and I lost my job, I had no problem with the mortgage because I live within my means. Most of the people that are losing houses believed the banks and the realtors and bought way more house than they should have. I ended up taking a pay cut at my replacement job and was still able to pay my house off early.
Who was the genius there that had them using ink jet printers instead of laser? Probably the same genius that thinks this will save them money?

VS $2 for 2 rentals a month?

I don't watch enough movies for Netflix to be worth the cost. Redbox works better for me for the 1 or 2 times a month I want to rent a movie.

Thanks for posting that link. The 'tard quotient is high in that comments section.
That sounds Son of Sam-like. God told me to cut the end of your dick off.

On that note, Deal Extreme, which a a seller of various Chinese sourced items, has some cheap hearing aids. With a billion citizens, you need to make them cheap enough for those who need them. I would think they are worth a shot, given the low cost. The plastic might give you ear cancer though! http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.4326 http://www.dealextreme.com/products.dx/category.1002~search.hearing
I must be doing all right with keeping a low profile, as I was not listed, even trying a few variations on my name.

It's because 2012 is when they will have full power to create the black hole that will swallow us all up.

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play. How about a nice game of chess?

I don't know what this drumbeat is, but I keep having a tap, tap, tap,,,tap in my head and it's driving me mad. Can you hear it?

Now get off my lawn!
