of course everytime they released the full screen, they released the widescreen at the same time. So you really can't call them different versions. Most movies in this country are released in those two versions.
I've never been too hard on Lucas for re-releasing the movies. Since they were on VHS, they were always wearing out at about the time they were released.
I didn't get a ps2 to play ps1 games. However, in my media room I have: a reciever, a dual tape deck, a vcr, a dvd player, a cable box, a tv, a turntable, and a playstation 2. Not to mention the speaker wire, etc. I don't want another console clogging things up. In fact I was able to move the playstation upstairs to the bedroom. Now I can play ps1 games in two places.
I bought a PS2 because it has games I want to play. But remember how things are on the launch. There where about 2 games for either the x-box or the ps2 that I cared about (madden, halo, SSX). It made it nice that I had a huge library of ps1 games that I could play, rent, and purchase cheaply.
Lets say I have a PS1 and 10 or 15 games. I buy a playstation 2. Now i can remove my playstation from my media room (move it to a bed room perhaps?) and still play all my old games. If there's a classic game for ps1 I can still buy it and play it no problem. Used PS1 games are cheap. It's a great feature to have, and it's not very difficult to implement (at least not in the playstation), so I say go for it.
Actually microsoft has told intel they aren't going to support another version of windows. Intel has two choices, stick with Itanium or follow AMD's lead. It looks like Tejas is going to follow AMD. The reason Microsoft is going slow is simply because the OS isn't quite ready yet.
Actually they did have the wheel... but only on toys (if I remember correctly, but I could be confusing them with the aztecs). The research I've read says they probably never made the leap to the wheel because of their lack of draft animals.
I also fail to see why Disney, of all companies, would push for this type of product. My little brother, like many young children, watch(es) childrens movies over and over again. I can remember one point where he would watch 101 Dalmations at least twice a day for 3 weeks straight until we decided to restrict TV usage.
This is why Disney wants a format that you don't own. Why should they let you watch a movie 100 times for $20, when you can pay $3 every time you see it?
Not that I agree with that stratagey, but that's what the suits are thinking.
That's awfully expensive for the keg. But we generally didn't get things like Guiness. Usually something cheap mid-range (fosters, rolling rock, shiner bock, etc.). Of course now I live in the Pacific Northwest, and am totally spoiled.
Where are you paying $120 for your kegs??? I haven't bought one in a few years, but it was more like $60 - $90. there is a deposit, but that is waved if you own your own keg, and if you don't you get it back if you bring the keg back.
Because our carriers have enough money to pay our politicians to make it that way. They fought Number Portability tooth and nail. And most of the US customers don't know there is another way.
And it tastes like crap... I thought coke classic actually used beet sugar?
The think I miss most about dallas (now that I live in seattle) is that I can't get cane sugar dr. pepper here.
If that's what you meant by your post I apologize. But when I read it I took it to mean: "Why don't those doing fundamental research switch to applied research." My response to that was you need both. If every one did applied research, you would soon run out of things to apply. But if everyone did fundamental research we'd never get to use anything new.
Just remember that this is actually being developed by Spy Glass Entertainment which is a subsidiary of Disney. Saying that the movie will suck because of Disney's involvement is like saying that ABC and ESPN are horrible because Disney is involved.
Spyglass is the arm of disney responsible for The Insider, Seabiscut, The Sixth Sense, and Unbreakable among others. Now you may or may not like those movies, but I don't think they were especially Disneyfied.
Saying that this is a Disney picture is like saying Kill Bill is a Disney picture simply because disney owns Miramax.
They were just trying to copy the other schools in the Big 8: Universtity of Nebraska (NU), Universtity of Oklahoma (OU), and University of Kansas (KU)... I'm not sure but I would wager that Missouri is MU.
I already have two DVD players (not counting the playstation, my pc, or the mac) so That's not really much of an issue. The X-Box live stuff does fascinate me, but the most fun online games I've played on the console are sports games. The best sports games are EA. And EA games are only on line via the PS2. The only thing that could make the playstation 2 perfect for me would be if there was an online fighting game. My GF doesn't like VirtuaFighter, and I am quickly tired of beating the computer.
It would be the way to go except: The playstation has/had the games I wanted. Pretty much every game I wanted to play on the X-Box was available for the PS2 (the exception being KOTOR, and that's now on PC). The playstation on the other hand has the GTA series, Gran Turismo 3/4, Final Fantasy, SOCOM, and EA online. All things being equal the X-Box would be my choice. However, based on the games available and price I'd like my PS2 best, and if I wanted a second console it would be a Gamecube.
Well they're finding it hard to do the show. So much of it depends on no one knowing who he is. That was one of the reasons he came to the US, everyone in the UK knew him, making his bits difficult to do.

I would think that would be the least of their problems. Both cards are probably going to be developed using a directx variant.

When I worked at mcdonalds (albeit this was almost 10 years ago) we had a button for the quarter pounder and one for the quarter pounder with cheeses.

Although the commercial was funny, no one could ever explain to me what it had to do with Quizno's.
they never said you got to keep the reciept. A good system would have you put it in the lock box.

Mos Def actually came from the theater community before he was a rapper.

My first-gen PS2 developed the disc read problems (it would only read DVD's) and sony fixed it for free even though I was out of warranty.

Of course the online games I care about are all from EA. Which means the playstation is where it's at.
Sony doesn't loose money on the consoles. They break even in the begining and then start seeing a small profit as they slowly improve the process.
