I can never remember his name, but he was also the Druid guy in the Dungeons and Dragons Movie, as the Doctor he had Sarah as an assistant, and had a big affro kind of thing going with his hair.
I'm currently sitting just within the edge of this cloud on Clayton street. Of course, I have no wi-fi devices to play with right now, but who knows.... I'm kind of surprised this made it to CNN, it's really underplayed around Campus, you don't hear a lot about it. Also, I'm wondering how toe UGA infrastructure will handle it, they are notorious for poor network performance despite MASSIVE bandwidth.
They ARE good! The feature the best Doctor from the Doctor Who series as Puddleglump in one of them. They were very well done for their time as far as special effects go. And the acting is way better that what one would expect from them. I still enjoy them and my parents have the set on tape.
This may be a horrendously stupid idea, but if so I'd like to know why it is. But could we tether this thing to the moon with some serious cables, and use the differential to create electricity, that we could use to power installations built on the asteroid and on the moon? I dunno how feasible that is, but if nothing else it would be a step closer to a space elevator of we pointed the rock towards earth, tethered it to the moon, stuck some bigass nuke reactors on it with engines on them to make sure that if the tether breaks we have a way to fire it up and keep its orbit from degrading and falling on us... There's gotta be all kinds of good shit you can do with a 2km asteroid tethered to the moon.
There's also no garauntee that they will EVER license it in the US. So I either wait at the whim of the studios to see what gets licensed and hope it's what I want and that it doesn't take 5 years, or I get the fansubs now to tide me over until the DVD release. When I can buy, or even rent, english language subs here I'll happily do so, but until then I'm going to keep breaking their copyright.
Hehe, Yeah, I should have specified that. I mean third parties as in, people not running for office. So the Democrats and Republicans couldn't run big multimillion dollar TV ad campaigns for their candidate any more than the NRA could. Only the individual candidate can pay for TV spots and only with the money they receive from the election fund.
I'm aware of the illegality, but it doesn't bother me. I'm willing to pay for an american translation of the Anime, no one is offering to sell it to me, some people are investing their time and effort to do it for free, I don't see anything wrong with that. There isn't even a product that someone could be losing money off of involved. I'm certainly not going to buy a version that doesn't have an option for the language I understand...
Is the only fix to change how candidates pay for election expenses?
My proposal for this is that each state has an Election Fund, anyone can donate to the election fund, but you don't choose where the money donated goes. Candidates are welcome to donate their own personal finances to the election fund, but it will also get spread out to their competitors.
Every candidate who is running gets the same amount of money out of the election fund. This is ALL of the money they can spend on their election. They have oversight from an Election committee that makes sure they submit an itemized list of their purchasing expenses which is available for review. 3rd parties are not allowed to advertise on broadcast media for any candidate, print media is OK as long as it is clearly marked that the third party is paying for it. Not in tiny tiny text at the bottom of the last page, but in large text across the top of the front.
This way everyone gets an even shot. Do the same thing for Federal Elections.
This is a big part of the Anime fansubbing scene. I eagerly await the release of fansubs of things like Hikaru no Go, which haven't been licensed in the US yet, but as soon as a DVD box set is released (or hell, a single individual episode on DVD) I'll go buy it because I want to support the series and I really enjoy owning the higher quality DVD versions.
Half of the cost is Mcaffee. The.Mac thing includes Mcaffee viruscan and a subscription to their update service, which last time I checked was around 50$ a year. It would be better in my mind if they would let you do things like keep the e-mail addie for free, pay a small amount per year, like 5$ for the idisk at its current size, 15$ at the new 100mb size, another 15$ for some other new features, 50$ for mcaffee... Something like that, let you get just what you use...
Well, you have to remember that well thought out, well designed modules take WAY more time than any of the others. So they are going to be the last thing to surface. Also, many people with well done worlds that could be put into NWN also have real world gaming going on and may be dividing their time among several other activities. I for one have a well developed game world that might end up as a NWN module, but only if I can be assured that enough of my real world players will get NWN that I can run campaigns with my friends online.
So good modules will come, but it may take quite a while.
No one should get a life sentance for a Morally Questionable action though. There's no need for new laws to be put into place specifically to address some mythical activity that the government classifies as 'hacking'. There are already Trespass laws, theft laws, vandalism laws, and plenty of other real world laws that apply just fine to computer related activities.
The line is drawn at good faith efforts. Example: Swimming pool in my back yard. If I have no fence around it, and some 14 year old kid comes over one night to swim in my pool (Trespassing on my property) and drowns I am held responsible for it. If I have a pool with a 6 foot fence and a gate, and the kid climbs over it, and swims in my pool and drowns, I MIGHT be held accountable for it, but there is a good chance of being able to prove good faith effort to keep people out. And if I have a 10 foot tall, electrified, barbwire fence around it with a padlocked gate, and the kid uses rubber gloves and wirecutters to break in, and drowns I'm almost certainly going to get off scotfree..
Please provide a comprehensive legal definition for what encompasses 'Hacking'. Once you have provided such you will be elligable to be taken seriously, until then you're just flamebait.
You're killing yourself. Do you not notice that all the people you've put up as examples of common people who use linux are only doing so because *you* are taking care of the complicated pieces for them!
Ok, of ALL of the people I know who use Windows, My brother and I are the only ones who have installed it. I installed it for most of them, the rest got it preinstalled. The argument that haveing someone else install and configure your OS means that the OS is too complicated may or may not be a valid argument, but it isn't a valid comparison for windows/linux since most people using Windows had someone else install it for them. If I went and installed Linux/Gnome on my parents machine, stuck icons on the desktop that did the stuff they usually do, and made it the approximate same color scheme as windows they would probably never notice.
Question for you: Me (127lbs), my brother (135lbs) and my good friend (270lb weightlifter) go to the same all you can eat resteraunt. I have one heaping full plate and split it with my borther, our friend has 7 heaping plates plus desert. We both pay the same amount, my brother doesn't pay. What's wrong with this picture?
By your logic (And the way it works now) my brother stole food. Even though the two of us combined paid more for our food than our friend did. Something about that just doesn't seem right....
So farming is a BAD business to be in! Sell your land to a developer and retire. Yeesh. People act like it would be the end of the world if there weren't any more 'family' farms. Switch crops to something that you CAN sell for a profit. Whatever happened to Slashdotters objecting to the government legislating protection for a business model? If farming doesn't work then the farmers need to find something else to do.
Isn't farming a business? Aren't they supposed to be selling their food for money somewhere in there? If they can't make a living at current prices why don't they raise prices? Seems like they are voluntarily choosing to be poor for the good of humanity.
Hehe. The site was created in approx 20 minutes a couple of months ago. If you check the root site, kyrina.org You'll see that it's my wife's site. I am married quite happily, thank you. One of the things I do for amusement is RP. I also play video games, am a hardcore martial artist and amateur gymnast. I don't plan on having children for many reasons, one of which is that it would take away from my relationship with my wife, another is that I spent many years helping to raise my cousins and I've seen how stressful and time consuming children are. I am also a firm believer in Zero Population Growth, and since so many people are having litters of children I think it would be irresponsible for me to introduce any more children into the world. I also dislike people who value children higher than adults. People are people. They are all worth exactly the same amount until they do something to distinguish themselves otherwise.
I'm not saying he can't live his life that way, just that I can't understand it. If he's seperated from his wife, fine I can understand why he would value her less than the children. But if they are together, then I think it's fairly disturbing to value the children above her.
Who's bitter? or arrogant? I'm happy with the decisions I made and I encourage other people to think about their life choices and make concious decisions. I hate to see people ruin their lives by having kids at 16 or even 19 or 20. They don't realize that once you have a child you will spend most of the rest of your life caring for it. The odds of you performing any truly valuable service for humanity just dropped to near 0. Dedicated achievers almost always get complaints from spouses that they don't spend enough time with the kids. So you neglect your job, or you neglect your kids. It's a matter of choice. Having kids isn't for everyone. Some people can have kis and a career and do both well, most people can't. I just want people to think about it before they have children.
Your.sig says something about you. It's a statement that you want associated with EVERYTHING you say on this site. To me that makes it a fairly strong sentiment. And when someone is using that sentiment to devalue someone who they supposedly love enough to spend the rest of their life with makes me upset. Your children aren't inherently special just because they are yours. They could end up being anything, serial killers, rapists, idiots, bullies, geniuses, doctors, lawyers, programmers, anything. Your spouse should be cherished, loved, and respected. If all your spouse is to you is some guy/girl you met in a bar then I think your life must be a pretty sad spectacle. I love my wife dearly, I knew her for years before we got married. We don't want children and one of the reasons is because children would detract from our personal relationship. I just can't fathom the idea that a child, someone who doesn't even have a fully formed personality yet, could be held up as more valuable or interesting than an adult whom you are supposedly in love with. It's just wrong.
Having children is very expensive & well worth it. Having a husband or wife is almost as expensive & barely worth it.
Gee, I'm glad you value your wife so highly. Frankly I hope she's left you by now if you value you your kids more than you value her. It's rather a disgusting sentiment hold children in higher regard than adults.

And yet almost every movie released this year has made incredible amounts of money for everyone involved, even many of the movies that sucked hard. I don't think there's any danger of people not being able to make money creating music and movies any time soon, but the method of distributing the content is going to have to change. I'd rather just listen to the radio or a bunch of free techno stuff than pay 20$ for a cd with no more than 15 songs on it, 10 of which are total crap and 2 of the remainder that have been played to death on radio.
