Heck, just about anyone on at&t's network could have told you that, and saved you a bunch of time & money LOL.
Unless you have an iphone, your data rate gets squashed to 300k upload, unless you know the script to over ride it.
Until they mature, tablets are just a "toy" for the most part. Now that one airline is starting to use them instead of flight manuals, perhaps they will mature into a business centric device, but, I'll bet 90% of them are for people to read books, play games, videos and the like.
I have a Dell streak, 5" phone/tablet I use for work purposes, and is handy when you don't have an internet connection and need to quickly VPN into the company network or look something up online.
When I buy a new laptop, I set it up, then, shut down the computer, pop out the hard drive, put the
expiration of the warranty on it with a sticker. Pop in a clean drive and set it up the way I want.
If something happens during the warranty period, I pop the original drive back in, before sending it
in for warranty work.
With the kids coming out of the schools today, they should be keeping them in school LONGER, not less.
The best thing they could do would be MANDATORY uniforms, and DISCIPLINE.
Technology....vacuum tubes (valves), hundreds of feet of wire, mechanical connections to break a 5 rotor cypher.
Now, 70 years later, you can do the same thing basically with a small computer, laptop, tablet or smart phone.
I leave mine on 24/7...it just goes to sleep after 20 minutes of non use.
Oh, and about the power consumption? It's a product called electricity. I use it, I pay for it.
It is the "instant" gotta have it now" mentality that people from their teens to their 30's have these days.
Heck, get a bunch of kids around an old fashioned ice cream churn and tell them they have to turn it for
about an hour before they can have ice cream...they'll say screw it, and go to an ice cream store.
People can't wait anymore, no patience, no manors, rude, in a hurry.
Kind of like the old bull & the young bull sitting on top of a hill overlooking a heard of cows below.
Hey old man...lets run down there and screw a couple of those cows. Old bull says, yeah, or we
could slowly walk down there, and screw em all.
Personally, I'll wait a week before I update, if anything else (bugs in a x.0 release), I want my plugins to
NOT BREAK. Hopefully, after a week, the ones I use will be signed to work with 6.x
All of these idiotic ideas to "reduce the consumption" is nothing but BS.
Ok...so what happens when everyone is driving "green" vehicles? Did you liberal anti capitalist eco-nuts
ever thing that once you do that, there will be no "fossil fuel" taxes (oh pardon me...the "pc" term is revenue)
coming in? Ok, how are you going to pay for road repairs & maintenance? It's just like the stupid tobacco
taxes. You want those jacked up so people will quit smoking, but they have the taxes tied to "health care"
(everyone knows it doesn't go there, but, that is what they tell ignorant people who believe it).
There would not be a shortage of fuel, if the stupid EPA would just go kiss off and let the oil prospectors drill
where there is oil!
Well, subways pretty much are only in large metropolitan cities, and have been run by liberals for the past 50 years,
which explains why they are degraded. Money stolen from "the rich" and wasted lining the pockets of corrupt officials.
Explains why you see the FLOOD of people with MONEY, are leaving the cities like NYC, and heading to Florida &
Texas, where taxes are LOW.
Fire em! With the unemployment rate, I'll betcha there are hundreds that would move, to take those jobs.
Amazing...when the economy is good, unions want more. When the economy is bad, unions want more.
Hey, I haven't had a raise in a while, but, I don't expect one, because of the economy. I'm just glad I have a job.
Now, if/when the economy picks up (with the congress & the current president, I don't expect that happening),
I'll ask for a raise, if I think I deserve one, and if I don't get one, I'll ask what I need to do to get one, or, will look
elsewhere. Unions aren't getting a lot of sympathy from the general public, who, in large, see them as underworked,
overpaid, and worthless. About the only ones who care for lazy unions, are POLITICIANS who know those union dues
keep them in office, because most of the rank & file, who couldn't add 1+1 and come up with the correct answer, will
vote how their union leadership expects them to vote, or because "I've always voted for democrats".
Personally, I'd like to see elections revert to how they use to be...if you didn't own property, you couldn't vote, because you
didn't have a personal stake in the country. Too many freeloaders in the country, sucking off of the sweat of others.
Apple, for good or bad, knows how to build up anticipation to the masses of somewhat "drones", to stand in line to get their products.
They are, in my opinion, pretty good at the device, but personally, I can't see paying for their devices, when I don't use mp3 or video
that much.
Unless HP, or any other tablet maker figures out a way to overcome the "iFans", they won't be able to compete.
You have to give the ifans a REASON to leave their beloved apple products.
Most likely due to the fact that HUMANS, no matter how hard they try, will be biased in reviewing.
Most college professors are liberal. Not saying that is a bad thing or a good thing, it is just the reality of the situation.
If a professor is grading papers and comes across some student that instead of keeping quiet about his/her political
inclination, is outspoken in class, that teacher will even if they try not to, will be harder on a conservative student, than
a liberal student. It's just human nature.
A computer on the other hand, will not have that problem.
a Ubisoft representative said the company has seen "a clear reduction in piracy of our titles which required a persistent online connection...
What they FAIL to tell you is that "we've also seen a clear reduction in sales of said software with a persistent online connection LOL
DONT complain, if in a few years, the death rates start going up, because they will reduce the weight even more, on
vehicles, to achieve the fuel standards.
WOW Bill! You found out what millions of taxpayers figured out decades ago.
Throwing BILLIONS of dollars at something, 99% of the times DOESN'T fix anything!
Mostly, the money goes to lining the pockets of bureaucrats, building fancy buildings
so someone can have their name on it.
Teachers unions (for the most part) saddle some of the blame also. How many stories
do you hear about teaching being placed in a "rubber room", doing nothing all day long,
but getting PAID in full. All due to the union contracts.
Teachers unions try to stop any evaluation system that would weed out poor performing
teachers, and reward the good teachers. I know several teachers who have quit, because
they tell me the mentality of the school boards & teachers unions have no clue how to actually
run the school systems, and do not back teachers who want respect & authority in the classroom.
Thanks to endless red tape, roadblocks by the enviro-nuts, what power company in good conscience build a nuke
plant in the USA these days? Thanks to the stupidity of the average American, who thinks a problem at a nuke plant
will turn it into an H-bomb, coupled with Three Mile Island, The movie China Syndrome,Chernobyl people think nuke plants
are unsafe. Well, to quote a radio talk show host...I'd rather live near a nuclear power plant, than in a city with UNION
government school teachers.
LSD, Oxycontin, sudafed, cocaine, some of the drugs that use to be
prescribed, or used on a routine basis, until the "drug culture" found out that by
tweaking them, melting them into a liquid, smoking them in a pipe, you could get
"high". Prescribed CORRECTLY, they could cure a lot of symptoms. Yes, some are
highly addictive, but they did have benefits years ago.
I remember a couple of decades ago, you could buy surplus "atomic warning clocks" that would set off an alarm, if the country
was under nuclear attack. The power companies would switch the time base from 60hz to 50hz, which is what the box was
designed to trip on...that 10hz change.
I don't think a lot of really critical things still use the AC line frequency for a time base, but I wouldn't want to take the chance.
Heck, just about anyone on at&t's network could have told you that, and saved you a bunch of time & money LOL. Unless you have an iphone, your data rate gets squashed to 300k upload, unless you know the script to over ride it.

Schools wouldnt need police departments, if parents & schools could spank kids like they use to.
Can you imagine if a copper thief got a hold of this? They would be set for life ;)

I'm sure there will be the tin-foil hat people that will say big oil will block it, but, most likely it will be the %*#(%&@! EPA that will block it.
To collect them to energize the anti-matter containment field so we can get the h*ll out of here!

The "professors" comments paid in part by PETA, save the whales, tree huggers everywhere.
Look for the total cost to be at least double that. You ever know a government estimate to be anywhere close to the final bill?
