that they would drop the code requirement. Years ago, the maritime (ships) board dropped
the code requirement for ship operators. Heck, I think they use satellites or RTTY anyway.
With the explosion of computers in communications, morse will be gone in a few years, save
for those who still enjoy a good Q-So.
This new rule, is an attempt to bolster the number of people who use amateur radio frequencies.
If amateur radio numbers continue to decline, the frequencies available for their use will be
returned to the FCC, which will sell the "space" to the highest bidder. Some of the bands are
extremely under used, and there are a bunch of companies who would pay top dollar for their
own use.
Pulling the morse code requirement will enable some who otherwise would not be able to achieve
their license. I have mixed feelings. At least the theory requirements are still in place.
Unlike when the FCC dropped the "license" requirements on the citizens band (11meter)radios,
which caused the band to collapse under the weight of idiots, keeping the written exam will
help weed out the noobs.

LOL........never thought about that one. Sea level is sea level:)
All of this so called global warming garbage just makes me shake my
head. I guess no one ever cared to look at the output from the sun,
which, has GROWN (ie:hotter) over the last several years. If you
turn up your furnace, guess what? Your house gets hotter. What a
concept. I know that most of the hysteria surrounding global warming
is just scientist who are hell bent on maintaing their current level
of government funding (suckling at the trough), but, you would think
at least some of the public, would get their noses out of the entertainment
news, and at least use what is left of their gray matter and look at
what these enviro-wackos are doing.
Call me a racist, I could care less.....
When 80 year old grandmas start blowing up buildings by flying airplanes into them, I'll start looking at 80
year old grandmas. Until then, the PATTERN has been since the 70's, 20-40 year old MUSLIM males causing
all the problems, so you LOOK at those causing the problem. It isn't "profiling", it's called common sense!
All of my business is service related, my customers work 8-5, so I have to work 8-5......
No big deal, I'm in field service, I'm out of the office 80% of the time anyway.
For the most part, the "rich" EARNED it! They went out, took a risk, and made the money.
Yeah, there are a few "silver spoon babies" like the Kennedy's, but you look at the top
100 and I'll betcha that they started with nothing.
Lower your shields and you will be added to our collective.
Just give it up.....people want "security" and "easy to use"
because they don't want to LEARN an OS, they just want to
turn it on and use it. When they make a flavor of Linux as
dumbed down as Windows, that is compatible with the windows
software, then people will switch. Most of us on here are the
"IT" department for family and friends....You know how it is,
they don't have a clue how the computer works, they just complain
when it doesn't. There are a lot of things I LIKE about Linux,
the PRICE being one:) But, it isn't at this point compatible
with the bulk of the software I use. With the price points that
have been listed for Vista, I think some will give Linux a look.
Our company isn't in any hurry to upgrade, nor are a lot of companies I talk to. Most like ours, have spent a lot of capital in the last 24 months upgrading from NT4 to XP, from Office 2000 to
Office 2003. We have XP tweaked out, locked down, patched up and running perfectly, sort of the
way we had NT4/Office2000 tweaked.
If we were to upgrade to Vista, to get the same performance, we would have to dump an extra 512 meg of ram into every box, since we have them running 512meg now. XP for our purposes runs pretty well with 512 meg of ram, but on a couple of test boxes, 512 meg with Vista is like running XP on 256. Yeah it runs, but you do a lot of swapping.
For now, we are holding off on Vista/Office07, until at the earliest Q2 of 07.
Any NEW computers bought/built, will be built with an OS update in mind, but will come configured
with XP, NOT Vista.
Has anyone noticed on kids toys (like cars, planes) that come in a box where you can
push the buttons to hear the noises it makes? Try popping those puppies out of the
box. Gee whizz! By the time you get all the wire wraps off of them, you've got 10
feet of wire! And whoever ties those stupid things has an evil side. They will
wrap some of them clockwise, and some counterclockwise. Grrrrrrrrrrr
the stupid politicians would get the hell out of the way and let them do their
jobs, without being "politically correct", or acting like a bunch of U.N. "meals on
wheels" bunch.
Given the job they are suppose to do, if you would turn them loose and say "do what
needs to be done regardless", then there is no way they can lose. But, we live in
"instant" times.....we want results in hours, not days.
I'm just glad we didn't fight the second world war like we have fought Korea, Viet-Nam,
and the gulf wars.....had we, and we'd either still be fighting them, or speaking
german or japanese.
Another punk kid who thinks he is above the rules, gets tasered and everyone cries for him.
SCREW HIM. He's just another idiot from another country who comes along and thinks he is
above the rules. If you don't like this country, get the H**L out! Bunch of socialist
screwballs have really screwed up this country. We have to be "politically correct".
Well screw that! If you screw up, expect to be thumped!
Ok, start your flame war......I really don't give a d**n what you think!
I'll PAY to NOT watch them. Or how about this....(I'm sure there would be a way to keep it from happening)...
You're in an automobile crash and try to dial 911...but first, a word from our sponsors.....LOL
It saddens me to see how screwed up they have become over the last 30 years.
I grew up with the achievements of NASA in its early days...Sheppard, Grissom,
Glenn, landing on the moon. Now, we have a overly bloated NASA, which, mirrors
the government...they have so many suits that have no clue what is going on,
over/mis-managed etc. NASA programs computers, used on something that goes into
space, without even thinking that it might be up there at the end of the year?
How stupid is that? Personally, I'd like to see NASA broke up, and let private
industry run the space program. They have too much "go fever". Screw safety,
just get the d**n thing in the air. So far, we've lost 2 crews to the shuttle,
something that shouldn't have been built in its present form. The original
design didn't have SRB's, but an air breathing launch vehicle, but budget
cuts after Apollo canceled that. The biggest mistake, IMO, was the cancellation
of the Apollo program. The Saturn V launch vehicle had a 100% launch rate (don't
confuse the Saturn V with the Command/Service vehicle). Had further research
with the Saturn V continued, just think where we could have been. Instead of
the crappy shuttle, held together with chewing gum and tin foil, we could have
a better launch vehicle. Is it any wonder that now we are going back to the future
with the new heavy launch vehicle?
This year about the outcome of the 2006 election? I don't hear one single "winner" complaining
that the election was stolen because of the electronic voting. I also don't hear any "loosers"
bitching about them either. Hummmmmmmmm maybe because it isn't so much the machines, as it is
the outcome of the elections?
Has anyone stopped to think that the SUN output is HOTTER?
Hello? If you turn up the furnace it gets hotter. What a concept.
I remember back in the mid 70's, in my teen years, everyone was so
worried that we were entering a new ice age. Scientist, what a bunch
of dopes. 2/3 of them are just spouting crap, to further their sucking
at the trough of the government nipple. They have nice research grants
for crap science. Any idiot knows that even 50 years of research is like
a few seconds in the history of the earth.
The people & government of the United States of America developed the internet (ARPANET)
which was a way the defense department could keep information saved in case of a nuclear
attack from the "peace loving people of the USSR". The internet developed from that!
If the U.N (useless nations) gets control of the internet, YOUR freedoms will be squashed.
We (USA) developed the net, if those that don't like the way it is run don't like it,
screw you and build your own. If it is better, then you'll have a great following.
Leave governance of the net to the USA. It's our party, and we'll run it how we see
fit. Bug off!
Everyone bellyaches about Microsoft, the oil companies having a monopoly. Geez! The diamond cartel has had a lock on the
diamond market for longer than MS or the oil companies. It's about time someone came up with a good alternative to
them. I'm sure if this catches on, Debeers will be dumping diamonds on the market to drop the price to cheaper than
what the man made ones cost to produce to run them out of business. It's been known for YEARS that Debeers has been
hording diamonds to keep the price up. With a vast stockpile of diamonds, they can afford to dump them on the market
to undercut the price of man made diamonds. I'm sure with the advance in technology though, hopefully the man made
diamond price will continue to drop, just like electronics. When first released, look what a LCD screen cost. Now
look at the price....
And there you have it. The main "push" for broadcasters in the U.S.A. to
switch to digital. Well, actually, the main reason the FCC is forcing
the broadcasters to switch. As an old saying goes, "there's gold in them
tharrree frequencies". The government stands to make a mint on selling
the frequencies. Who cares if anyone has a digi tv or converter. They
don't care, it's all about the money the government stands to make on
selling off the frequencies to the highest bidder. Unless you are on
cable, IPTV, sattelite, or close to a tower, I doubt you'll be happy
with the reception of digitv. Plus, with the CRAP that is on 99% of
the networks, why would you want to waste your time.

hasn't tried to pin it on Bush, Cheney, Karl Rove or some other "evil" republican. That seems to be the norm on liberal blogs anymore.
